Sharin no Kuni - A Visual Novel Localization Project (Steam w/ Vita stretch goal)

Haha. It's made like $1000 since I made my post about an hour ago.

LRG's e-mail really lit a fire under this campaign. I was thinking of dropping my pledge down to $1 tomorrow since I thought the goal wasn't going to be met and I just wanted backerkit access in case they did a "we've changed our mind!" kinda thing; now I'm confident it'll make it.

It's almost at 106k, the surge is real. I hope they don't take the surge for granted and don't give a last update with new tiers and rewards until the end.

Vita tier gonna happen?

If the goal is met does that mean instead of a Steam Key I could get a PSN Key for the game at the 55$ tier?

If it reaches 120k during the campaign or BackerKit, it'll happen. If it happens, you'll be able to choose between PC or Vita for your digital or physical tiers. The PSN release will be North America only, for now.

Cool. I'd most likely go digital and physical Vita with the 55$ tier then. I'd have no interest if it doesn't make it though. Stuff like this always puts people in a tough spot when it comes to these kickstarters.

So nobody else is questioning how $40k is enough to fund a full port to the Vita since a Vita version doesn't exist? That's just a few months of cost for a single person and doesn't factor in the cost of QA nor the need of other people. I wish they were a bit more forthcoming of how they plan to handle the Vita version with the funding.

$40K is the quote we've gotten from the developer here in Japan we'll be working with to prepare the Vita port. The dev in question has worked on a number of VN ports for multiple Sony consoles in the past, so we don't have any worries about their ability to port the game to the Vita. The $40K also doesn't include the production costs, as those will be taken out LRG's physical version sales.

Hell, there exists people like Doddler who have built VN engines from scratch on unity by himself in the span of 4 months or so and it was the first time he attempted such a thing. As long as you've got someone competent it shouldn't be an issue

Any word on if it'd be PSTV compatible if it makes the Vita goal?

I don't want to give a 100% yes to this, but seeing as it's (as far as I know) just making sure the game can be played on the Vita TV and asking Sony to whitelist it, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be. I'll make sure to mention it as something we need to make sure happens.

Yes, please. I hate when games are incompatible simply due to negligence to check the right checkbox.

Yay! Thank you. <3

This is a big thing for me, PSTV is my primary way of playing Vita games anyway.

It's worth noting, according to the latest update, that the exclusive cover will be for those that pledge $40+ while the campaign is going, you'll get the standard cover if you use BackerKit later.

I wonder if the fandisc will be ported to the Vita in case it reach both stretch goals.

It says "free for all backers" but that may not be taking the Vita stretch goal into consideration (even though meeting the 2nd stretch goal requires getting the Vita one first).

But I don't know how they plan to distribute the fan disc content, whether it will be a separate program or put into the base game like the Hozuki chapter.

It seems to be getting a bump from hitting the stretch goal. 145k for the last stretch goal might be possible. The 48 hour notices go out soon so tomorrow will be telling.

Super glad this made the goal. I backed it a few days ago finally and I'm looking forward to finally being able to play an official version of it in my Vita.

Big thanks to everyone on GAF for the support! Other people on the team who don't even know the site noticed the high amount of referrals and pledges we've been getting from here, so it's definitely made a difference.

Wow, they're already 3k away from the final stretch goal. Those 48 hour notices (and maybe the Muv Luv shoutout) doing work.

We would've hit it, but someone dropped their $3100 pledge a little bit ago, haha. Better for them to do it before the stretch goal got hit than for us to celebrate it and then fall back below, I suppose.

Alright after considering which version to get finally settled on the Extra credit tear since I don't find the art especially great enough for me to want the art book and I genuinely don't remember any of the music. Will be glad to have this in my physical PC VN collection!

Is there a reason why censorship is so big in NA and not in Japan for Vita games? I understand that the Fandisk is 18+ but I feel like the JP rating system is more leanient on games with 18+ material, and is there any reason why Sony wouldn't be able to compromise in this situation only allowing the fandisk to be included in the physical copy's and not allowing it in the digital aspect to cover their bases?

The fandisc mostly consists of sex scenes. Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo do not allow such content on their consoles regardless of the region.

Not to mention even if they did allow it, it'd give the game 'Adult' rating meaning practically no stores would carry the game.

None of the console manufacturers in Japan allow straight up porn in games released on their systems, VNs that get ported from PC with such content are censored into "all ages" versions. No one allows it anywhere.

Ah I see I didn't realize it had straight up Porn Scenes makes sense than as to why it wouldn't be included, the game should be able to shine without those. Sorry y'all gotta read more up on this game I'm really happy that Visual Novels as a whole are garnering more attention on the Vita.

Huh, I thought I read that if the Vita cart could fit it, that they would include it. I guess regardless, they won't be able to, anyways.

Yay it made it and then some!

I can feel fully content now about my pledge now that Vita is confirmed and they seem to be close to certain about PSTV compatibility. :)

Only question is, which tier do I back?
