SHOCKING NEWS: The Last Guardian could be a PS4 game

I always assumed Half Life 3 would come out as the showpiece for Valve's next engine, whatever that ends up being. But Gabe seems to think the episodes are basically Half Life 3...

I assume the same. I mostly can't wait for that proper new CS. This got me thinking though: when HL2 came out I was single and living in a townhouse with a bunch of dudes getting drunk every night. Since then:

-Have two kids, now ages 5 and 7.
-Moved to another city.
-Worked for the NFL for 8 years and have since moved on.
-Married.
-Divorced.

CRAZY

On topic:
I think because of the fan outcry and the meme it's become, Yoshida actually will push to announce this at an E3 conference rather than at TGS as history would imply. It may even be a "one last thing" announcement to make waves. It will be total fan service and faces will melt and Y2Kev am cry.

the same. I won't lose sleep over it, until I do my next playthrough of Episode 2. God damn, that's the best FPS (campaign) experience I've probably had.

But but why?, But I want it .. :(
:P

Because one of the finer points of Ueda's games is that they take place within a shared universe (or at least appear to) but aren't direct sequels like every other goddamn video game? There is nothing left on the table for a sequel anyway, the game design of SOTC was tapped out with that one game.

One of these days they're going to get sick of making The Last Guardian, just release what they have, then say we'll have to buy DLC for the complete experience later on, also the game will crash randomly in the mean time.

(first NG post!)

My guess is the game has been completely overhauled, the dream of this game actually coming out some day still makes the PS4 the next gen console of interest for me. That and No Mans Sky. Otherwise I'd just go for a cheapie Kinectless XB1

I doubt after all this time they would release it on Vita, my guess that portable is going to slowly fade to obscurity, they would have to release it on their premiere baby to have any chance at recouping the money TLG's production has been bleeding since 2009.

I think this is the year we'll see something new. I hope anyway.

Biggest single issue with the game design and the reason for the delays is most likely the AI requirements for the catbird. Since the behaviors and reactions of the catbird in relation to the boy's movements and commands seem to be the crux of the game, this is imperative to get right, particularly when the environments themselves pose such a challenge to path finding.

It's been so long since the reveal, I don't honestly know if I care anymore. I certainly don't feel the same I did when I first saw it. And Ueda's statements don't sound very reassuring. If this game has not been a top priority, even within the last 12 months, then what chance does it have? I still think the game will be shelved at some point.

Calling it: TLG = Project Morpheus flagship.

Ueda said he wanted to do VR after he left Sony. The new conditions were that they INVENTED Morpheus just to suit Ueda's initial hunch for the game, which at the time back in 2011 were seen as crazy. But when they say Occulus they were like "ok, we can do that", so they fast tracked the Morpheus, wooed Ueda, and then he went back and remade it into a VR-title.

For reals.

why are you so excited about this game? my question is serious, not trolling. :)
If I know right we barely know anything about that game, they just released a trailer with a bird-dog (or a griffin) or what and a kid and few pictures. the plot is nothing special, neither the art, we saw many settings like this. seems like an average game, i Think it's a little bit overhyped :)
but you all want this so I hope it will be released and it will be awesome so that makes you people happy :)

I always think this would be a good idea. But from a marketing stand point they need the hype for people to buy into it. The more people are aware, the more likely you'll buy it. Than if you don't hear about it, then it goes missing.

i think 1 to 2 months are more than enough to hype up a game. Rather it can be effective if they decide to release some info daily from the announcement till the launch

Couple of us played Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

*sigh* games that go through developmental hell never end up quite as good as their original premise but I hope this one will be different.

Also, what's up with Ueda's relationship with Sony? Is he out or is he still a part of SCEJ?

it's better that way.

I don't understand what it is they're having such a hard time with. From the trailer the game looks very complete, graphically as well as gameplay. The only thing I can think of is they're having difficulty with the AI for the creature. Could that mean the creature in the trailer was purely animated to show what they ultimately want the AI to do?

Maybe not a sequel, but I'd totally buy a rerelease that worked some of the unused colossi back into the game.

If it exists (don't worry, I'm joking kinda), I already expected as much. If it was re-revealed as a PS3 game then that would be incredibly, incredibly disappointing.

This has been the most painful wait for a game. They give us nothing to work with - except from very small hints from time to time.

But when the game finally releases - and it will! - everything is going to be forgiven.

It's been a painful wait, but I'll survive... I have enough games to keep me entertained for a long time.

I just want it to be amazing whenever it gets released. I don't want to be disappointed. If that requires they take another two years, then so be it.

Thought this was obvious? Releasing a PS3 exclusive is suicide at this point. Even cross-gen isn't worth it if you're not a mega-franchise.

I think this game will be a huge disappointment when it actually comes out.
Expectations are way to high and after a troubled development and all the stuff that happend it seems like they aren't putting much effort in anymore.

I'm telling you, after Last Guardian is out, i still want more Team ICO games, despite the fuck up with this title.
People say Sony should fire Ueda's ass and all that, but i don't care man, Shadow of the Colossus was that good.

Well, Ueda is leaving after TLG is complete.

Honestly don't even give a crap about this game anymore.
I'm like this too, you know.

A few weeks ago, I was looking at the last slice of a Strawberry Forest Cake on my table, but then someone else took it. It's okay. It's not like I really wanted a slice of cake that day, even though the memory seems to be vivid in my mind after many weeks. I just drank my tea, and that was enough for me.

What does this mean?

Thanks for taking the time to bump this thread for that.

My bad, I saw the link on the other locked thread and thought this one was still active. On mobile so I didn't realize the dates. I do seriously hope that this comes out, just was being a bit snarky since it seems to be tease, tease, tease, nah we are not showing it but it's real we promise...
