Should I ignore the Terminator movies after 3?

I didn't think there was anything wrong with Salvation. Solid action, most of the effects have help up well (outside of
CG Arnold
but that's only for like 10 seconds), and it's one of the few (only?) Sam Worthington roles that I thought was alright.

T3 just banks too heavily on nostalgia and it's filled to the brim with cringey jokes and non-stop references. It's a very early 2000's action movie, where it's trying to be more of a comedy, but also take itself seriously still, and it doesn't really work.

I haven't even seen Genisys yet, been a bit scared to (same with Independence Day 2). :\

Independence Day 2 is a lot of fun. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I saw the first one only a month before. Sure it doesn't have all the wit but it's still well done.

How bad is Genisys? It's on Prime.
It's bottom tier trash.
Bad plot, horrible acting, shit characters and everything else is just terrible.

The only good moments are nostalgia driven or when Arnie is making fun of himself.
It's a waste of your life span and you should choose something else.

I saw Genisys in the theaters. I had the choice between it and Fury Road. I chose poorly.

Genisys is the worst type of movie: It's a bad movie with a premise that could've made a great movie. The idea is great; reboot the franchise with spin on the first movie taking the best parts of Terminator 1 & 2. The first half hour of Genisys is great in that regard, it has so many little homages to the first two movies. Instead the film decides to run away from this idea as fast as possible and the rest of the movie really just falls apart plot-wise.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles is awful. You guys need to stop.

And it's obvious why Cameron was pimping Genisys. Outside of his best bud Arnold headlining the film, he already knew the rights to the franchise were reverting back to him a couple years later. It makes
much more sense to want to have a franchise do better and be worth something, then be handed the rights to a franchise that nobody wants to touch anymore. Genesys doing well would have been good for Cameron in that he acquires a stronger franchise/brand. Shitting on the movie would have been a bad business decision.

SCC is T3 levels of absolute trash. I suppose it's slightly better just for the fact Arnold isn't there pissing all over his best role. But, it's still trash that should be forgotten.

If you feel yourself rationalising the decision to watch terminator Genisis.

Save yourself the trouble and watch Stargate Atlantis season 4 episode 15 (outcast)

Its only 40 minutes and it has Jason Momoa fighting a terminator with the help of another terminator played by a former power ranger.

Yes. Genysis honestly wasn't that bad, but it has zero reason to exist.

Ignore T3 while we're at it, too.

He was hyping up Salvation too. (Partly to drive up Sam Worthington's career, too).

Cameron stikes me as just being too successful to give a fuck about being petty over these horrible movies.

1 and 2 are the only ones you should care about.

Genesis sucked but was better than the other sequels, I guess you could watch it as a time killer, but for most people the story ends with 2.

Skip 3 and stop at Salvation.

My man.

You know how to do it.

Genisys has a future with self-driving vehicles, yet it still had a T-800 driving a truck.

It was bad.

Salvation is one of the most boring movies I've ever seen, but it gets some respect from me for not just being a remake of the first movie like all of the other sequels are (though 2 actually does it well).

It also had a pretty sweet trailer, which is more than I can say for 3 or Genisys.

Wait - can people make their minds up about Sarah Connor chronicles? Was just about to buy the box set on amazon because people were recommending it, and now it's erring some backlash

The real problem is that even if you do enjoy it, it was canceled prematurely and there's quite a few plot threads that will never be resolved.

I agree to should stop after 2, the Terminators lose thier unrelenting, near invincible terror reputation. 3 is passable but the new machines looked silly, again felt like these were innovations for the sake of the movie and not necessarily an extension of a story set inside the same universe. Salvation is just bad, really shit Terminators and Genysis has no real point but is at least enjoyable with some nice nods to the old Terminators, so i put this bad movie above Salvation, which is another bad movie.

Its a rent not buy show. Its basically equivalent to an elseworlds comic. Its not the main canon but it has value as an interesting twist on a common theme.

Besides Lena Heady (Cersi Lannister) is Sarah Conner and she's pretty good. John(Thomas Dekker) is OK and Summer Glau (Terminator) is great at playing robotic.

Terminator 3 isn't THAT bad.
It's a silly sunmer popcorn movie with some funny one liners and a pretty awesome ending. Obviously it's not up to the standard on 1 and 2 but it's definitely watchable.

3, salvation, and Genesys are not great movies, but they all have some fun moments and the special effects are generally good.

You should have stopped at 2
This. 3 is okay but I don't consider any of the movies after 2, canon. Cameron's vision ended with 2 and they tried forcing too much humor in 3 and even Genisys. Salvation was eh and the only reason I saw Genisys in theaters is because I love Arnie.

I've managed to ignore them all despite growing up in the 90s. From what I think was the original, I remember a melting silver dude, gunfire, and none of the plot points. I haven't seen any of the sequels.

That's exactly what I meant, haha.

Yeah, T1 & T2 remain unsurpassed regarding how great they are, but some guys here act like the movies after T2 are offensive crap that damages the franchise. That's far from the truth, but we all know some guys love to post in a very hyperbolic way -_-

My big issue with T3, quality of the film aside, was the premise behind it. The message behind T2 was 'there's no fate but what we make for ourselves'. There was a powerful and inspiring message beyond the spectacle and effects. T3 subsequently pissed on that message by saying 'eh fuck it, Judgement Day was gonna happen no matter what.' That the film was also woefully sub-par by the standards of the first two was a double kick in the nuts.

I watched 3 on tv years after i saw the first two and liked it. The first two films mean a lot to some people so they get offended that studios want to continue hot property. I never saw salvation and genisys so i cant comment there.

Maybe watch the first two then catch the third a while later after you contemplate the message of the first two movies.

T3 takes everything that T2 established and throws it out the window. It's as bad as the "Rebellion" Madoka movie which was also trash.

Stop after 2!

edit: I am speaking strictly about the storyline, not the production values. 3 was a well-made movie, but its plot and ending are bullshit, if you loved the 2nd one as much as I do.

The Terminator, Alien, and RoboCop franchises should have all stopped after the 2nd movie. Terminator 2 pretty much has a perfect ending.

Terminator Salvation is basically the only post-T2 movie that's remotely watchable, plus it has the added bonus of not shitting on the previous movies as much

3 was great. The awesome action set pieces and fights more than make up for any qualms with the meaningless lore of this universe.

While some I feel may find then shitty and to ignore, I would recommend to just watch them then forget they exist. They at their best are 2 hour brainless action films that are forgettable after T3.

Salvation was between fine and good and I enjoyed it. 3 and Genisys didn't happen. This franchise is still worth saving.

If I'm in charge of the TCU I'm starting a trilogy for theaters coupled with a prestige series (3 seasons?) on Netflix to run parallel. The trilogy is Sarah Connor's complete arc and the series is John Connor's complete arc.

I just watched Genesys. it was shit, but I thought Arnie was great! Had some funny lines. He definitely made the rest of it a lot more bearable. It's an insult that this and Salvation are sequels to T1 and T2, but I could have hated this a lot more than I actually did.
