Fem Shep >>> Male Shep.

But I've already played these games and frankly they weren't good enough to deserve a replay, remastered or not.

A trans man roleplaying as a Female space cop, that's some meta shit.

That explains this abhorrent bit that no man would actually write:

Look, there’s nothing wrong with men. I’m one myself! It’s totally OK to be a man, and in most circumstances, it’s perfectly OK to choose to play a male character in a video game when given multiple gender options. Many men find it very affirming of their identity to see their body type and masculine presentation reflected by their choice of on-screen simulacrum.

Who writes like this? What is it with the pedantic tone every fucking time?

Yeah I rolled my eyes so hard at that part. Like you can’t just say “lots of guys like to role play guy character”. He had to wrap it in some woke-speak bullshit.

that and the part where he points out that he voted for Elizabeth Warren to bolster his claim that he supports accomplished and empowered women.

I mained femshep in 2007, without Slate guilting me into doing so, because I heard that Jennifer Hale's performance as femshep was the better of the two. Next time I will main dudeshep because fuck Slate, that's why.

Or just do 2 playthroughs, one of each? It's not like you pick one and you're stuck with it forever.
fuckin' wokes.

I mained both male and female shephard back in the day. Didn't offer much of a difference. The characters are written so that they can feel attracted to both sexes anyway, it depends how you react for them. You can't romance Wrex anyway.

The reason the female version of Shepard is so remarkable is due to the voice acting of Jennifer Hale, who elevates the character beyond the realm of superlatives. There are other reasons to play as FemShep (as fans affectionately call her), but if you miss this voice performance due to male insecurity (or because male Shepard is the quick start option), you’re missing what may well be the greatest voice performance in video game history.

I've played the trilogy four times. The last one was as Jane Shepard. It was the best. So I have to agree, her acting is better compared to rather wooden performance by whoever voiced John. John isn't bad either, just not as good.

Seriously though if anyone has not played the game with a female Shep I honestly can't recommend it enough.

The voice acting is vastly superior on the female Shep. Male Shep has his moments, but there are also times where the voice acting is very off and I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is. But Jennifer Hale knocks it out of the park in every game.

The writer should have left out the quoted paragraph and just cut to his actual reason for recommending girl Shepard - he thinks the voice acting is real good and too many people are missing it.
Personally, I’m not big on customizing characters in most games and I just play as whoever is on the cover art.

Hale's performance isnt better than Meer's

They are just different. And to me, Meer is Shepard. No question.

Maybe its due to nostalgia, since I've played a male Shepard back then, so it stuck

Don't play Bioware games without Minsc in them.

FemShep is great especially as renegade but Mark Vanderloo will forever be the real Commander Shepard. I don't like the default FemShep model at all. Should have been a scanned model like male Shepard.

But here’s one choice you absolutely shouldn’t make: Do not, under any circumstances, play the protagonist as a guy.
Does this include the following circumstances?

A. I bought the game, I'm entitled to pick what I want.
B. I would enjoy the game more playing as male.
C. I enjoy Mark's voice more than Jennifers.
D. You're a pussy.

Look, there’s nothing wrong with men. I’m one myself! It’s totally OK to be a man, and in most circumstances, it’s perfectly OK to choose to play a male character in a video game when given multiple gender options.

Only in 2021 America could this sentence possibly exist. We're so damn lucky Hitler attacked the wrong Era. If the Third Reich happened today, we'd all be speaking German.

Many men find it very affirming of their identity to see their body type and masculine presentation reflected by their choice of on-screen simulacrum.

Right. I'm sure many gamers can identify with Male Shepard's body type. We're all built like a brick fucking house.

According to BioWare, more than 80 percent of Mass Effect players chose to play as the male version of Shepard over the course of the trilogy’s initial release, and I’m sure most of these players simply didn’t know any better.

I know so many Femshep fans and cucks like this that absolutely seethe over this fact, ever since this data was released 8 years ago.

That’s why I’m telling you before it’s too late that the female version of our hero Commander Shepard is the superior Shepard

Quick! Before ya'll can't play a 10 year old game for some reason!

and I insist you play as her.

Dude's fighting the good fight.

People only say they prefer FemShep to be unique little butterflies. There's a reason male Shepard is an internet meme icon.

Except for you guy reading this and about to reply angrily. You the real FemShep fan.

Funny story, I played as femshep for ME3 (I think it was 3, might have been 2) and i even turned the case cover inside out so femshep was on the outside. When I traded the game into gamestop, the clerk was kind of taken aback and was stated that out of all the copies they had gotten back, mine was the only one with the cover turned inside out like that.

Anyway, I'm playing as femshep now in the remaster and honestly shep falls flat as a character. I don't find them that interesting. I dont' think it would make a difference whether I played as male or female character.

I''m still 50/50 on this being a troll article for easy clicks. Most of it is just gibberish:

in most circumstances, it’s perfectly OK to choose to play a male character in a video game

What the hell does this even mean? When is it ever NOT okay play as a male character?

ME 1-3 are amongst my favorite games ever but I think both performances are shit to be honest.

FemShep sounds like she is doing an impression of a 90's tough guy half the time which doesn't fit a lot of the dialogue at all. It seems to veer wildly between a nuanced performance and pure over the top cringe almost like two different people recorded it.

Mark Meer gives a super boring performance but at least it's fairly consistent and he does have his moments so I tend to stick with him.

I preferred Kassandraa in AC Odyssey, Evie in syndicate but Shepherd will always be male for me.

Doesn't surprise me, given my first thought to your post was "Wait, you could do that?"
Sure enough, I just pulled down my copy of ME3 and it's right there.

Pure mental illness. Society will continue to decay as long as these people aren't given the help they need from specialized institutions to deprogram them.

People who write this shit has no idea what men are like. They live in an echo chamber where a bunch of females, trans or not, tell each other what men are like without ever actually bothering to ask a man.

I've never needed reaffirming my manhood or project myself onto a video game character. The very idea of it is just weird as fuck to me. What insecure babies need to feel familiar with a mass of pixels.

I tend to play as women when possible, but that's because I like women, I like looking at them, and I'm not ashamed of that.
