This game really can't come soon enough.

Fans of videogames in general really should be paying attention to this one. It's like everyone's favorite franchise is gettings its dues here.

Fantastic update. Music is awesome (love the remix of the Discover theme from MGS) and the Shadow Moses stage is really, really awesome. I half-expected Rex to appear, but Ray is just icing on the cake. The hint about a new Metal Gear makes me go :O.

Now that Rex has been shown, I wonder if that rules out Rex being Snake's final smash?

Also, where are people getting the character appearances from SSB making a return? I must've missed it in the video...

Best update evar and I'm not even a Metal Gear fan.

This game is already so fucking amazing I can't even believe it exists in this form...kudos to everyone involved...game of the forever indeed.

Best week so far?

- New character
- new movies and gameplay movie
Well, best first two days of a week so far, anyway. I'd say these weeks were better:

July 30th to August 3rd - Ike, Castle Siege, Subspace Emissary, and some other negligible stuff

September 3rd to 7th - Pit's Descent movie, Pokemon Stadium 2 (+ FLUDD double update, but that's unimportant), My Music + Pokemon Stadium music + SSBB main theme triple update, and other negligible stuff

September 17th to 21st - Wi-Fi Play, The Enemies of Subspace Emissary, Snake profile + MGS4 music + Snake's moves triple update, other negligible stuff

But we've still got three days to go this time around, so this is definitely "best week ever" potential. :D

When Snake is covered in electricity, and he says "Did you miss me" or something. It looked like an intro, and not a move.

They're inferring that snake's ground impact -> stand animation with electricity is probably an intro. It's a good bet.

Awesome update. Too bad it has to be rated T or else we could've seen a little more of the real Solid Snake. The Yoshi video was my favorite though.

Oh. I just figured that was done specifically for the movie.

Snake's moveset looks real badass too. I was afraid he'd be leaning more toward Ganondorf in terms of strength vs. speed, but he seems real fast. Definitely will be training with him.

We haven't really seen anything in any of the videos that was done just for the one movie, which is one cool thing. :D

The gliding mechanic would probably be the most prominent example... Most people kind of overlooked it in November 2006, but Meta Knight was doing it all along. And Samus' "cutscene" smash from the E3 2006 trailer turned out to be her final smash all along. And so on.

Yep. Sakurai thought ahead and maybe everything in the movies realistic in the game world. It shows alot of dedication to a product

This is true.

I'm especially curious now as to what Snake's final smash will be. Maybe he'll summon Grey Fox / the Ninja? :D

Ha, this update is hilarious. Shadow Moses Island looks like a great stage.

I hope we can choose between English and Japanese voices for Brawl like you could for Melee. David Hayter & Akio Ohtsuka both do a great job as Snake, yet they both play the character in a different way IMO. It would be nice to have the option to switch back and forth.

While I'm thinking about it, do we know the amount of space that Melee took up on the Gamecube discs? Because the mind boggles thinking how much more room they've got this time around...

I've always found it hard to understand how a voice like that could be spoken by any person for a long period of time. It sounds so forced and rough on the throat...

He starts contaplating Love on the battlefield and all the characters sit down to discuss this philosphical development

Midi music = underwhelming, worst version of the MGS theme I've heard.

Sakurai delivers on the content though. :D

I noticed that Snake's forward tilt looks like a two-hit combo, is he the first character to have this? I'm trying to think back to all the tilts in SSBM; can't think of any that were a combo...

Oh, and the music in that main video is awesome. Excellent stuff!

Samus' and Captain Falcon's up tilt.

That might have been Snake's forward smash in the video, though... Not entirely sure.

1.5GB Vs 4.7GB

Just watched all the videos. ****ing fantastic.

WHy are they not on the UK site though? :-(
Removed from the PAL version to fit all the PAL language translations of the rest of the game, amirite? LOL.

Duderz said:
Yeah, but did SSBM actually take up the full 1.5GB?

Probably not...
Probably got close to it considering they had to strip the Japanese version option out and remove the idle demo movie to fit the PAL languages.

We don't know that it's a forward tilt, it could be a smash. The pause afterwards makes me think it might be a smash.

Another thing I noticed, one of his aerials (neutral?) looks to be 4 hits long?

Hmm, those videos look like crap. No offense intended :-/

No offence taken, I wasn't the one to put them up. ^_^

Having said that, the quality on the last 3 are unimportant anyway.

SSBM is one of the few GC games that makes me wonder about its size, which is why I asked. I mean, there were a load of trophy models in there, plus all the music and some of it orchestrated...
I agree that it probably didn't take up the whole thing, but I'm curious how much it did.

Seemed so. Reminds me of Kirby's forward air triple kick, except hopefully it doesn't suck.

Well, Melee had plenty of content as well, and that was on GC. I don't think they are having many problems with 4.7GB

Looking at it again, I think it may very well be his smash - there are those grey "shock waves" that appear under him while he's attacking, the ones that appear beneath a lot of other smash attacks in Melee (I think Samus' down smash was one?).

Man I got very little love for this game but I have to say that was a great trailer. Good humor. Still doesn't look like it's for me but just wanted to chime in.

I don't expect the Subspace Emissary to be THAT big (I'd be surprised if it winds up any longer than 1 - 3 hours to complete), and even if they double the content, it still wouldn't fill up a DVD.
