So that scene in Death Stranding...

Was it bizarre and quirky? Oh, totally! But it didn't break any immersion, or make me lose respect for the game.

Certainly wasn't the first time I played a Kojima title and the dialogue made me go, "Wtf?"

I swear Kojima puts shit like this in his games just to fuck around with us, because most of the scenes that follow this chapter are excellent. Its honestly hard to believe the same person that made this scene made the others. Now that I think about it, that whole chapter, including all the Higgs crap, felt like it was from MGS4.

Am I weird for thinking it could have been a romantic relationship? As messed up as that sounds.
Why would it be messed up? She's not Sam's real sister in the same way Bridget isn't his real mother. Hell they werent even raised together like family, she's just always been someone whose been there for Sam. And yes I'm aware that sounds like the set-up to a porno but there is clearly meant to be some romantic overtones, like Fragile's insistence that Sam's love for her is his connection to her.

Not sure where this falls, haven't played the game yet, but the tone of this scene, with the Andromeda smiles is simultaneously disconcerting, and strangely alluring.

It’s wonky af, don’t get me wrong, but I think it plays better in-game. The beach pun works better, you know these people and their relationship, etc.

It is kind of hilarious, though.

Like MiguelItUp MiguelItUp says, if you’re a long-time Kojima fan, you’re... pretty much inoculated, lol.

Honestly? I laughed and told myself "Man, Kojima, you did it again".
I mean... you're basically expecting scenes likes this from him. I was shocked there weren't many more of those in the game.

Worst early beginning part was when you appear naked at the beach for the first time and you see the chiral network necklace around you....but you don't get the necklace until *after* that event. Sam wouldn't have known what it would look like. It should have been the dream catcher around his neck, but it's just one of those odd things I saw.

I noticed this too! Thought it was super weird but possibly explainable as I learn more about the game as I progress..Maybe not?

The all amelie stuff is bullshit mumbo jumbo of the highest order.

The shower scene with the invasive deadman was incredibly painfull too...

The game has high highs and very lowest low...

I loved that scene. The serious tone, the awkwardness of what was happening. The whole game is like this. Dead serious but silly.

I dont know why this is seen as so bizarre. This quirkiness is strewn throughout japanese culture and has been for a long time. This game was made in Japan just an FYI. But Americans find it offensive. Didnt Jeff from Giant Bomb almost end his life from viewing this scene?

Its an in-joke/reference to "The Bionic Woman". You know the show that made Lindsey Wagner a household name back in the 70's. Sam is just taking the Steve Austin (i.e. the Six Million Dollar Man, not the wrestler, as played by Lee Majors) role.

You start already with the necklace... you received it in the past... you are only having flackbacks about how you received it.
