So..... where the hell is Rallisport Challenge 3?

Seriously, we need this game!*

*especially since Sega has dropped the ball big time with Sega Rally series.
 
If RSC3 was to happen it would not be developed by DiCE (confirmed by a member of the RSC team on his blog IIRC), so I guess it's better for it never to happen.

As far as I know, as one of the developers on both RalliSport Challenge 1 and 2 here at DICE, that isn't the case. At least not at DICE since we are more or less a part of EA now and they aren't that big on platform exclusive titles (or titles that sell less than one million copies). But since Microsoft owns the RalliSport IP they can develop the game themselves or let another studio do it for them. That would be kinda cool and interesting to look at but I doubt it will happen since RSC2 unfortunately wasn't really a commercial hit for them.

Don't really care if it's called RSC3 or something else, but i would really like to see what DICE could do on next gen consoles. On xbox, their efforts pretty much shattered Bizarre titles, technically at least, and if their next racer was to gotham3 what rsc2 was to pgr2...
But i guess it's not happening, since they are forced to go multiplatform.

This is terrible news. I hope EA changes its mind and lets the DICE team once again work their magic...terrific series. They could just make it multiplatform and sales would surely improve....

Yeah, they could still create an arcade rally racing game and call it something else. Knowing EA, they'd probably just buy the WRC license or get exclusive rights to it, call it EA Sports WRC 2007, and remove the DICE logo from the opening.

Then again, I would rather see a stylized arcade rally game under the EA Big label... from DICE.
 
I've heard there's a racing game coming from DICE. But it probably won't be called RSC3 for the reasons mentioned in the blog.
 
My god, and I thought my day couldn't get any worse :( am cry indeed. The OP described what I want perfectly, could you just imagine what that would be like? Hopefully some enterprising developer will realize this and fill the gap.

You know, if MS would get crackin' on the backwards compatibility, we could be playing RSC2 on the 360 and it should look pretty similar to those shots. He says it's just dev shots of RSC2 running at 720p with good AA. Upscale the 16:9 frame on the 360 and hit it with some 4x AA, and it would look pretty damn close.
 
yeah, i dont think its happening. i hope the team gets to do something involving racing again, even if it isnt rally related. speaking of rally, where the hell are all the games? for a while there, there was quite a few coming, now, not a single title that i know of.

where is the colin mcrae series?

did anyone pick up the wrc license?

how about warthog, surely they'll be back now that giz is dead...

Hey Shog? When you say "especially since Sega has dropped the ball big time with Sega Rally series", are you refering to not liking Sega Rally 2 on the Dreamcast as much as Sega Rally on Saturn? Or are you refering to the insane amont of time that it is taking Sega to release Sega Rally 3?

i think hes referring to sega rally 2006, which by all accounts sounds pretty bad
 
yeah add me to the 'shattered by the D.I.C.E announcement' list.

Such a shame.

Just imagine how good it could've turned out with the next gen consoles. Full damage support, an even more realistic mud/water effect, total customization on car from sponsers, possible co-op mode where the passanger tells you of upcoming turns, etc....
 
What's the status of the Colin McRae series? Haven't seen or heard anything since Colin '05. I wonder if a next gen version is in the works...

I'd also like to see Shox 2, although i think odds are slim on that front.
