So the game is out today. I know a lot of places are already selling. If you have it give us some impressions.

No reviews seem to be out yet. They're probably checking it out on the public servers for a while before finishing their review. But I'll post here whenever they come.

EDIT: Just got word from a good source that Trophies and Match-Making/Party system aren't in the final game, but "they are coming".

I would love to see the Trophy list for the game since I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Apparently it has no trophies at launch.

You could also take a look into the SOCOM thread in the online forum because there are some impresssions.

I'd like to get this, but unfortunately this fall some games had to give and this was one of them.
Maybe I'll pick it up early next year. I hope they do a demo like they've done for Warhawk.

Not from what I read. And the beta was already fun despite the glitches. It's all been fleshed out.

The game has been getting nothing but praise so far in previews, and people who actually have the final.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.

Sony clearly wanted this game out the door ASAP regardless of quality, I guess they want to push R2 as their 'big' shooter for the year or maybe SOCOM just isn't that important to them. I know I'll be playing it everyday but I wanted to see the series get the proper PS3 treatment it deserves but it doesn't look that way. Promised features are missing, only 4 new maps, noticeable amount of weapons missing, lack of polish, and no advertisements. I know we'll get DLC/patches but the whole situation is just disappointing to me.

PSN down for anyone else?

It's going to be down for another 2-3 hours.

Maybe the game will pop up on the PStore tonight and shock everyone, as well as fuck over GS for a few sales in the process.

My EB is getting it tomorrow :(

Anyways aren't the impressions on the headset somewhat useless right now! The real test or impressions should come after the 2.5 firmware update.

From Sony...
Support for the PS3 Official Bluetooth Headset - we’ve told you about the upcoming Bluetooth Headset and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation Bundle on the Blog. This latest firmware installment enables High-Quality (HQ) mode, which delivers clear and wide-band online voice chat. On top of that, an added on-screen indicator shows battery status, volume level and use of HQ mode.

At least Sony will be getting the sale since the game isn't sharable.

That's exactly how I feel; I mean I want the game to be a gem, but the whole situation with the beta and now no reviews is just so suspect. I'm sure it'll turn out to be fun, just not the same kind of fun I remember about the series online.

I thought the beta was really underwhelming and a mess tech-wise. Any indication that framerate and things have improved for the retail release?

Sony didn't have much of a choice. After this week, when could they have possibly released SOCOM?

It ticks me off that they couldn't finish the game after delaying it for so long. This was originally a winter 07 title, then July 08, then Sept 14th.

Yes they have immensely. Check the thread in online gaming.

Apparently, tech-wise, its all fine now. The framerate is solid and the loading is quick from what I'm being told.

How is the game not shareable? was/is WarHawk the same way?
1 account per 24 hours. Kinda deters the sharing of the bigger retail games. Be thankful stuff like Wipeout is sharable. It's sharable but not for more than 1 user per 24.

But beta's always have flaws, and for the most part the version used is never the final version.
So basically how can anyone give proper reviews at this time? You can't review the beta for the reason mentioned above, and because Confrontation is an online only game the reviewers have to wait till today to give it a proper try before forming opinions.

That's great news. I was looking for an excuse to take advantage of the Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal at ToysRUs this week :D

I had mixed results during beta, it seems the frame rate was a little linked to server/lag. I had plenty of solid 30FPS games and also plenty of crappy barely 20FPS games.

I'm getting the game anyway (for the headset) but I really hope they fixed the frame rate issues.

I feel the same way. I've been hesitant to buy the game, headset or not. Unfortunately Amazon decided to give me a good deal, so it will be here Friday. :lol

As long as Slant Six supports the game after release I think it will shape up to be a quality game. I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

I didn't play the beta, but I'm getting the feeling that although people are looking forward to playing a "now-gen" version of Socom, maybe this game should have been left in the oven a little while longer. But like Doel said, this was probably the best time to release the game, with so many other games coming out in these next couple of weeks. Maybe if they would have delayed the game till at least Jan.?

Any possibility that you can save the game on your system, that way you can launch it like a PSN game without putting the disc in?

I would really love this feature for online games like MGS4.

Wait, is that the full install ... meaning you don't need the disc anymore?
It's presumably like Warhawk, where it installs the whole game, but you still need to have the disk in the drive to play it.

gas is down to 2.85 stop being poor

I thought it wasn't out retail until the 15th.

Ill be buying the 39 version, i'm done trying to use those crappy blutooth headsets. I hope i can find some friends on socom, so I can get some teamwork going.

Oh ... meh.

I may get the bundle and then sell the game (and buy the PSN version).

Now that I updated my HDD, for games that are reasonably priced, I'd much prefer to have it on HDD even if I lose the ability to resell.

damn the logic so backwards

so if someone wants to save HD space by getting the disc version, it installs the entire game on the PS3 anyway, and for your troubles you need a disc every time to play it
