Some small details from the 'Nintendo Switch Online Lounge' app

By fiddling around with the Switch it's been discovered that the lobby function is already implemented in the Switch OS, at least to some degree. It seems to be done through a web applet that makes requests to https://web-lp1.znc.srv.nintendo.net/lobby/. Looks like the name of the app will be Nintendo Switch Online Lounge. And yes, there's a typo in the logo.

Also I found the following messages on the source code of the page:

Your room has been created.

You can invite friends to the room via
the Nintendo Switch Online Lounge app.

Some additional strings:

Pass_Code
Code for friends to join the room without an invitation

Allow_Friend_To_Join
Allow Nintendo Switch friends to join the room using a code

Available_Free
You can use the pre-release version of the service for free

Service_Name
Nintendo Switch Online Lounge

Lets_Invite
Invite friends and enjoy voice chat while gaming, all via your smart device!

Need_To_Play
The Nintendo Switch Online Lounge app is required to use this feature

Send_Notification
Send Notification to My Smart Device

Join_Success
You can use voice chat from the Nintendo Switch Online Lounge app.

Create_Room_Success
Your room has been created.

The logo was extracted from https://web-lp1.znc.srv.nintendo.net/storage/icon/usEn/ico_lounge.svg. Nintendo.net is the official domain the company uses for their network (like miiverse.nintendo.net).
Look's like the app is 100% needed for lobbies and chat. Also found a QR code that links to http://lounge.nintendo.com but it's not up yet.

Edit:

Looks like Nintendo removed the pages. But I archived them anyway :)

Thanks for sharing.

Pretty certain it's going to launch alongside Splatoon 2, so we don't have much longer to wait until it's properly revealed.

From reading this, it seems almost like the app is literally just for voice chat and whatever "Need to Play" is and that the actual lounge/room features will also be on the system. I'm assuming you'll have text chat while in rooms

Won't be long now until we get a proper introduction. I'm just hoping Nintendo can show us how this app can actually be useful for the Switch, and why we would want voice chat on a phone. Yes, I know there's that terrible headset solution from Hori, but I want answers from Nintendo themselves, not some random third party.

wait so this app was found on the switch itself? whats the point of the phone app then?

I imagine all the execution is done by the Switch hardware itself. The app just tells the Switch to create a lobby or voice chat. Similar to how Chromecast works. It's still unclear how exactly this works, so let's wait for Nintendo to actually show us.

No. It's a web page basically. The Switch opens a web page where it displays info about your current lobby, but the lobby itself is managed by the mobile app.

So it's really just discord right? Like you meet up there but having to group up or party for a game is still don't manually with each person booting up the game and finding a lobby, etc. It even a party is done on system level? Yikes.

It's still a little early to tell, honestly. That's all that we can piece together with the information available, though.

I am actually pretty excited for this app, it makes sense since most ppl have a smart phone and it enables the switch to go online on the go.
