Someone made a 9/11 game/experience for the Oculus Rift.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?

Can't watch the video now, but what's the context exactly? Do you play a passenger on one of the planes?

It's an empathy experience.

But a largely unnecessary one... I mean, how much more attention and reminder do we really need about 9/11 at this point? We've already allowed it to be used as the wedge to get us into 2 draining, disruptive wars, whose consequences continue to haunt us now.

So games that glorify the invasion of middle-eastern countries are ok, but not this?

The initial reaction is a hard recoil....but something along these lines would be good for educational purposes l. But going further than this....i.e. Rebuilding all kids of historical moments in vr.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.

Well, I don't know.

I don't want to play something like this, but if games are going to advance as an art form, shouldn't there be alternative games that cover brutal, emotional reality in the same way something like United 93 might? On the other hand, I don't know if we're ready for it, and I don't know if this is a well-done, respectful experience.

I'm 1000% ok with people developing experiences like this, particularly if they aren't exploitative.

Face value... this isn't a shock value game.

Wounds are still there for 9/11, but there is something interesting and potentially powerful about putting people into these experiences.

I get what they're going for and I can respect them and their effort, but there's no way this won't cause a shitstorm.

Well this would be interesting to play, if not terrifying once the collapse starts to happen.

I think it's an interesting idea and something that's never been done before. What's wrong about this? Movies about 9/11 can be made why not documentary experience?

You can see the fox news headline "They're making 9/11 the video game!" then they'll show a reel of Mario games and the plane crashing and try to make middle america think this is supposed to be a fun game...

An interesting idea and I'd be all for it, could be a very powerful experience, but I'm worried about the execution.

Pretty much my thoughts on the matter. These things can be done in a way that's not distasteful.

It's interesting and I hope for the best of the experience.

I might not ever want to touch it but... keep on.

This. People stop getting mad for no reason - use this no reason rage for stopping your fucking guns in America.

I think it is interesting and it looks well made. I would like to try it just to get an impression how horrible it has to be.

So when can we expect Auschwitz: the VR experience? Exploitation movies were quite popular once, perhaps the same goes for VR...

You know ?

Of it was meant to be a healing type of narrative I wouldn't be as pissed.

Something like the movie Source Code , where you keep hitting yourself against an inevitable outcome until you do the things you really need to do to get closure.
