Although the costs of bringing existing titles over to the Wii U won't be high, Hayes said Sega is willing to spend more money on implementing the unique tablet controller, helping to distinguish the Aliens: Colonial Marines experience on Wii U from the same game on Sony or Microsoft hardware.

"That [Wii U] controller is absolutely brilliant and we have to think of innovative ways to use it. We're doing high definition Sonics, we're doing obviously Aliens: Colonial Marines, so you can bring them across, and that's relatively low cost, which is good news.

"Then you spend your money on how do you use that controller effectively to make it unique and differentiate it."
What do you guys think?

Oh god. It makes me feel so old to think that next year that game will be 6 years old.

There are actually people who like this game. I was stunned when I read some youtube comments saying how Sonic 06 was one of the best Sonic games ever.

Any game that makes me use 2 continues on the first level because everything is JUST SO BAD is not fine by me. Fuck that game.

Although I must admit that I am really tempted to finish it one day >_>

Yep! I tutored a few kids who really seemed to love this game despite how bad it was. Loved the final story too. Not. Kidding. For some of them, it was their first game and they really liked it. Perhaps they'll learn if SEGA stays on this trend of developing good Sonic game/if they try out some older titles with an open mind, or when they grow up a little. To be fair to them, there may have been some bad games out there that we probably liked when we were younger.

It makes me sad that that game was probably some people's first Sonic title.

YouTube is a strange place. There are people there who consider The Bouncer to be one of the greatest games of all time.
Hahahahahahahaha!

No, seriously. Wat.

...No, I shouldn't be in disbelief. There are people on YouTube who believe Beyond the Beyond was the best PS1 RPG.

There are people who believe that Virtual Hydlide is one of the best games ever and is "better than most of the games we have now".

I'm sure that there are people out there who sincerely believe the CD-i Zelda and Mario games gameplay-wise were amazing.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are people out there who believe that Hoshi wo Miru Hito is one of the best games ever made. That's what I'd call an insane person.

I could never beat Robotnik in Labyrinth Zone as a kid. I was in awe when I discovered the stage select cheat and saw there were 2 more zones after it :p

Lucky me, I was spoiled by Super Mario World and Sonic 2 being my first games, I was quite critical on games from the start ^^.

Has anyone considered that HD Generations will be the first time that Sonic Team has taken it upon themselves to develop a more traditional 2D platforming Sonic since the 90s? Dimps handled Sonic 4 and every portable 2D game that wasn't on a Sega system, including 3DS Generations.
...
It'll be very interesting to see if they still have any creative juice in them for level design.
Realizing all the key personnel from the early days are gone, but still.

Crush 40 performed Sonic Boom at some Sonic convention not too long ago. If that's any indication, we might be seeing some Sonic CD representation.
In the form of a stage? Possibly, but I highly doubt it. They may pull some sound effects, animations and even some music from CD (this is the anniversary game after all), but when it comes to stage remakes they'll be playing it safe, and there's nothing safe about that game.
(and I mean that in the best way)

Besides, they probably only know about that song because of Smash Bros :p

Nah. For all the grief I give Senoue, he's the one who put together the two recent vocal compilation albums and those had everything from Sonic Boom to Un-gravitify to Look-a-like, of all things. He might not be much good at composing anything these days, but he knows the series' musical history.

Mostly because
I didn't expect Ken Balough and RubyEclipse to appear.
At first I thought, "What the hell am I watching?" And then I chuckled at the "Dreamcast 2" being tossed in the garbage part. And then I felt bad because it was
two Dreamcasts masking-taped together
.

I think Ruby is handsome.

Edit: In other news, I'm planning on importing one of these to go along with my Tales of Xillia preorder:
Sonic Adventure 2 Original Soundtrack 20th Anniversary Edition

or Sonic Heroes Original Soundtrack 20th Anniversary Edition

I might go with the SA2 soundtrack. Interesting that they're not releasing a 20-year compilation CD like they did with the 10th Anniversary (even though that was a promo/packaged disc). But I think it sucks that the SA2 soundtrack is basically a gimped soundtrack. :/

I never purchased the SA2 soundtrack, so I'd like to have at least this one.

Playing through Sonic Colors now after not touching a 3D Sonic for... Well, close to a decade now, I guess. Still not quite sure how I feel about it.

I got all the trophies on Sonic 2 just to realize that there was no Platnium trophy.

Ah, well, it was great going back and reliving my childhood.

Are those pics from the PSP version? That doesn't look bad if so.

Hopefully, the 3DS version looks better than that, though.
Well played.

It will be a stage in the inevitable Shadow Generations! The theme of the game will be: "Anger and frustration across all Sonic titles" with the worst stages from every Sonic game.

So I'm not sure if this has been posted, and I'm not going to dig through all this to find out either.

A week or so ago TSSZ got a tip from someone they 'feel very comfortable trusting'. This is the supposed final level list for Generations:

Sonic 1 – Green Hill *
Sonic 2 – Chemical Plant
Sonic 3 and Knuckles - Sky Sanctuary
Sonic Adventure – Speed Highway
Sonic Adventure 2 - City Escape *
Sonic Heroes – Seaside Hill OR Casino Park / Bingo Highway
Sonic 2006 – Crisis City
Sonic Unleashed – Spagonia / Rooftop Run Day *
Sonic Colors – Planet Wisp
This is quite possibly the most depressing list I've ever...

They 'merged' S3 and S&K, and only picked a level from it. Why choose Bingo highway OR Seaside for that matter? No Sonic CD? I'm extremely disappointed with this.

Full story here: Sucky List

EDIT: I remember a tentative list from a while back. Is this the same one or has it changed any?

Maybe. Either way, I'm enjoying looking at the stages and listening to the music. The stage with the spaceships everywhere was quite a treat.
Music is so awesome in either version. I loved using my headphones for that!

No...no! Don't give them any ideas!

I'm pretty sure all the supposed "leaked" lists have been the same, save for one or two levels. Each time one of them pops up, it's always the same thing.

"HEY, I'M PRETTY SURE WE GOT THE REAL DEAL FROM A FRIEND OF MY AUNTIE WHO WORKS THERE GUYS"

Might as well ignore TSSZ until the game is released. It's like a new Sonic Cycle, but for stage lists.

Speaking of TSSZ, they pointed me to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2p0TvWgJW2Q

It's Green Hill from E3, but Aaron takes some time with it to mess around. (The part with the Crabmeat is a bit funny.) As the comments also point out, at 5:37, when Modern Sonic finishes his combo, his last pose is straight off the Sonic Adventure box-art.

Watched already, but this blew my mind a little bit

Now I'm wondering, how does one finish their combo string, as opposed to just landing without that finshing move? Is there a detailed explanation of the combo system anywhere?
