Sonic Generations Announced [PS3 / XBOX 360 / PC / 3DS] - No Wii Version Official

I liked the music and loved the theme/settings. I still consider it one of the most original Sonic zones.
Hill Top Zone was more slow paced and chill than the rest of Sonic 2, so the music fit. It's like they put it in just to give the player an intermission.

If any zone from Sonic 2 gets in please let it be either Wing Fortress or Mystic Cave.

Hill Top Zone grew on me A LOT after playing through on my iPhone. The music is irritating... but sort of endearing haha.

I think it's because the tune sticks out and the stage itself is beautiful above the clouds and with the earthquakes and lava raises, no other stage in sonic 2 really has that much going on without being boring (metropolis)

lack of Ice Cap is disheartening
they could have comboed Classic Sonic Ice Cap from S3 with SA's Ice Cap for Modern Sonic
I know. That and Hydrocity Zone, and you have arguably have two of the most iconic Sonic stages. For Sonic 3/and Knuckles you can only choose between those two stages.

Thought I do believe that list is bogus.

I don't mind the Hill Top music much, but the level itself is pretty boring.

Although Hill Top also has my favorite badnik: that purple fire-spitting brontosaurus.

Honestly, I don't. Sonic Team seems to have a completely unnatural obsession with Seaside Hill and all the other garbage to come out of Sonic Heroes, while poor old Sonic CD constantly gets booted to the sidelines.

Lets face it, after that comment about Game Gear stages and the rumours about how difficult it was to get classic Sonic into this game, it's obvious they don't really feel like celebrating anything outside of the last 10 years of Sonic.

I'll agree with the second portion, and the second half of the first statement.

My problem with Hill Top's music is not the composition, because that is some good composition. It's the instrumentation--I don't like it very much. BUT I do not have issues with this remix, for example: http://youtu.be/At3pOmrPOaw.

Now that remix is pretty chill.

Boo, original is still better.

People keep mentioning this, but is there actually a source for it besides Iizuka blathering on regarding Sonic 4?

Alright, I'll agree to disagree re: Hill Top. And I will concede that the level plays better than a lot of modern Sonic levels!

But I shall play Hill Top Zone on my Genesis to give it one more shot. Despite the fact that looks pretty blurry. I would play the Sonic's Genesis Collection version, but meh. I like the Genesis controls better for nostalgia's sake. My desk is now extremely cluttered with four systems, lol (Launch Wii, 80 GB BC PS3, SNES and Genesis). I should just break out the NES, PS1, Dreamcast, Pico and Slim PS2 while I'm at it, though they will not fit on my desk and I need the work space.

Sitting here, as I type this, with the Sound Test playing in the background... the only thing to complete the scene is a Sonic popsicle. Or a Rocket popsicle. Also, Casino Night + Aquatic Ruin + Chemical Plant = <3

Er, Debug mode was... 1, 9, 9, 2, 1, 1, 2, 4, right? I swore I had these burned into my memory, but I forgot all of them. I know that level select is 19, 65, 9, 17. I forgot the All Emeralds code, but it doesn't matter, really.

I searched the first 5 pages (100 posts per page) and couldn't find anything so here goes:

Does the title need to be updated, or has a PC version still not been confirmed?

I don't own a Genesis. :( Dreamcast was my first Sega console. Should get around to picking one up when I have extra cash.

...Or I should check craigslist!

Get one! It's a good system, and it complements the SNES library quite well, imo.

Don't feel bad about getting one used. My NES and Genesis belonged to my older cousins, so they're pretty worn (I also got all of their remaining games they had). The NES and Genesis used to have stickers all over them (well, the NES still does, the Genesis doesn't). When I opened up my NES to replace the 72-pin connector last year (since the old one was corroded), you wouldn't believe how much muck and dirt was in there. Had to get a toothbrush, isopropyl alcohol and some other nice electronic cleaning stuff to clean it, along with fixing the connector. :/

I got my Dreamcast w/2 controllers + Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi for $30. Bought it at a yard sale in 2001. The kid I bought it from was saving up money to get a PS2 instead. I asked him if he was absolutely sure he didn't want any more cash for it, and he said no... so I guess he really didn't want it. I had to buy a VMU, though. And then I got a bunch of games from my cousins when they decided to begin primarily playing PC games. So it was all good. The Dreamcast was in need of a cleaning, though. So trusty toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol saved the day again.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to play through all of the Genesis Sonic games I have (Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 + K, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Spinball) and Contra: Hard Corps this weekend since the Genesis is hooked up to the TV right now. I wanted to play Yoshi's Island, Shadowrun or Illusion of Gaia during the day this weekend, too... decisions, decisions...

I've been recently rebuying old games I used to own as a kid (considering I lost nearly my entire game collection from the 8bit and 16bit era over the years) as well as games I've never owned (such as DKC, Kirby etc). I've been thinking of getting Contra for the Genesis. How much does that go for now?

DO IT ALL!

I've actually been playing a bit too much SMW lately. My 5 year old sister is absolutely obsessed with Mario games, so I have been slowly working her through them. That's actually how I wake her up in the mornings: By telling her it's time to play some Mario!

eBay says around $20-40 used. Amazon says from $16.75 (used) to ~$25 (collectible) to $149.99 new

I hear you, though. I've been trying for ages to get a copy of Castlevania Bloodlines. SNES games seem easier to look for than Genesis games... Or at least, I know the places to go for SNES/NES games locally and online for cheap.

I wish I could! There's only 48 hours this weekend, and I used some of them up already because of working and sleeping. Tomorrow's Ocarina of Time and Father's Day and I need to bake a cake. I'm trying to speedrun Sonic 2 right now though, so it's going well.

But awww, that's cute. Does she show a preference for the older games? Great that she's enjoying it. I think she'll love Yoshi's Island. I effing love that game based on its artstyle and gameplay.

Kinda reminds me of how my cousins got me into Mega Man and Sonic. The first game they made me play on my own was NES Battletoads--you can guess how well that went, lol. They had me watch them play Mario rather than try to play it, so I picked it up myself after playing MM1 and Zelda. And I still died at the first Goomba in SMB.

Which begs the question: which is the better game to have a first-time gamer try out? SMB1 or Sonic 1? Not Battletoads. It could possibly scar them for life.

Far from old. We were wondering if it was confirmed a few hours ago.

Perhaps an incoming demo for the PC version alongside the console versions?

It would be interesting if this were announced at Summer of Sonic/Gamescom. I was thinking about a situation of whether or not the PC version might be announced at either event today, actually. Nice find.

Turns out it was added a few days ago, I just didn't notice it before. Only reason I now noticed it was my laptop hasn't logged into steam for about a week, so that was the newest entry on it (About 100 have been added since, that is 8449, Valve is upto 8545)

Not watching it myself because I don't want to spoil the demo for myself, but I've been told it's a really good video to watch.
Dude sounds like Vince Vahgn. He did a really good job explaining what was going on without stuttering and pausing in his thoughts, like I probably would.

I can't wait for this game. Unleashed really impressed me with it's visuals and speed, but I had to give up in the end. The warehog platforming sections...I just didn't have the time for it.

Most recently Alice 2, shortly after Crysis 2 got pulled and everyone was wondering what was up with EA and Steam. It calmed some nerves and the game hit the storefront shortly thereafter.

At 1:05 Sonic hits a speed pad, slightly slows down and goes through the loop at a seemingly automatic speed. That's worse than Sonic 4.

You're wrong. I went over the video and there's no boost pad. (In fact, classic Sonic has no boost pads as far as I can remember.) He's just going from medium to top speed. He slows down a bit in the loop because it's a large loop and he's losing a little momentum in it. That's proper physics.

Why are you always so wrong? How can you watch any of these videos and try to deny the existence of the automated parts?

Let me tell you that proper physics doesn't involve slowing down when rolling down an incline.

How am I wrong? There was no speed pad and he lost a tiny bit of speed going up the loop and sped up running down. Also, I was one of the first to mention and complain about the automated rolling inside the tubes when you walk up to them. Also, I was the first one to complain about the "Dimps-esque" physics in the 3DS classic version. I've been watching the physics of this game very carefully.

Watch from 1:13 and explain to me what causes the massive boost at 1:17.

I think he's still pushing forward. As you push forward, you keep gaining speed. This may also be true in rolling form, but I'm not sure. It does look a bit unnatural.

Then go to 2:05 and explain to me why he uncurls

I dunno. He's not uncurling from the lip of a curve but rather while on the ground so it doesn't affect gameplay.

I don't see why you're getting on my case about this when NONE of this had to do with what I was discussing with BlueBlur1. I'm not saying the physics are perfect, but that what he said was wrong.
