Just passed 10 hours put into the Steam version.

It's certainly not perfect but man I'm loving the shit out of this game. Despite the shortcomings of the gameplay the levels are FUN!

Except for Seaside Hill and Planet Wisp. They're trash.

I know this has been covered but allow me to add to the chorus: WHERE THE FUCK IS THE DLC FOR THIS GAME?! I'd pay at least $5 a level for some more remakes that match the quality of the main game (i.e. not Casino Night Zone).

I want more!

Yes, I've seen a couple people mention on the steam forums that this can happen. Unfortunately the only way you can get the achievement is to make a new save files and do it again.

speaking of the pinball DLC, will it ever be available on US PSN? if I'm not mistaken Europe and Japan seem to have gotten it, yet we don't, if that's the case then what gives.

Perhaps they are holding back DLC until after sonic 4 episode 2 is released? Speculative, of course, but we shall see. Biggest letdown for potential DLC EVER if nothing is done..

It's not up on the US Xbox Marketplace either. I think this one may stay a GameStop exclusive. :(

Yesterday I picked up 3DS Sonic Generations and I must say I'm really loving it!
I like how the classic Sonic stages play like classic Sonic games
until he learns the homing attack anyway
and the modern Sonic ones like Sonic Advance 2/Sonic Rush series, the music is excellent and it looks really good.
Also classic Sonic is sosososososooooooooo cute!
What I don't like is how you have to use play coins to unlock some of the side missions, this is probably the closest thing 3DS has to iOS stile IAP but oh well.
Another thing... Sadly the online seems to be dead but I guess that was to be expected.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that 3DS Generations has basically sold me on Sonic Generations for PS3, and Unleashed, neither of which I've played.

They really have no reason to.. unless they are actually making them as we speak ....
And in that case we probably have more chances to get a "Generation 2" in style than a dlc ...

We just need DLC to fill in the gaps. 3, CD and Rush levels. Rush is portable sure but to me it's equally as important to the Sonic canon as any of the other post-Adventure games included. Give us Dead Line, the lack of levels set in space is a shame. And 3/CD obviously need including- not sure what to pick from 3, probably Ice Cap Zone as that would fill the ice level niche, but Wacky Workbench from CD would be a nice one to see.

Man, if you like Generations 3DS, your mind is going to be blown when you play the console version!

And yeah, no one I know around here got Generations 3DS so I had to end up unlocking missions myself. The Classic Sonic physics are alright, but the entirety of 3DS version is... lacking somewhat. The Dreamcast Era is perhaps the game's lowest point for me.

On the topic of Unleashed, I should really get going on writing up how I feel about Unleashed now that I've played both the Wii and PS3 versions. I feel more positive towards the game now, and I fell in love with the soundtrack all over again.

But Sonic CD was... kind of in Generations. >.> (Alright, I guess it doesn't count.)

I'd take Quartz Quadrant, actually. Wacky Workbench strikes me as... tricky.

Yeah, Metal Sonic fight doesn't count :p

I'm mostly saying Wacky for the music, but seeing as they'd use the JP music it might as well be Quartz. :( I'd love to see the time travel in Generations though, if they put in Wisps for the Colours level they'd definitely do right by a CD level.

I got Sonic Generations 3DS for 15 dollars new, I should expect it in a week. Online better be good in this game, it's what I'm looking forward to most.

Don't expect much since you probably won't be able to get in a game since online with this game is dead.

Beware of the level design in the Dreamcast era stages...!

But I like Wacky Workbench's JP music...

I'm a little surprised put more substance in the Sonic CD level now. That level could have been really creative. 3-4 levels in one! But I'm unsure of how they'd execute it since they took the concept of the wisps and abused them to high hell in the Colours levels...

None of the JP soundtrack is bad, it's just certain tracks on the US version completely outclass it. ...IMO. At least JP got the superior Palmtree Panic song :p

I think they'd do a CD level properly. Past, Present, Bad Future and Good Future. Like you say, they use the Wisps so much in the Colours stage- a gameplay concept seen nowhere else in the game- that I think they'd treat the time travel mechanic as well. The cheap route, of course, is to include scripted segments where Sonic dashes past a sign, time changes, and then the next segment is set in another time.

I'd bet, if they did it, they'd have full time travel for Classic and scripted travel for Modern. The amount of faffing around time travel requires compared to most Sonic games doesn't fit with Modern at all, so it might as well be reverted to an automated system. Also, Modern Sonic can probably hit 88mph pretty damn quickly. :p But I don't think they'd force people to time travel to finish the level, that seems odd. Probably just spread all the red rings out in past/future.

For some background I haven't enjoyed a Sonic game since Sonic and Knuckles. I tried SA1 and SA2 but they didn't win me over.

As of 1:39AM March 18 2012 Sonic Generations is the best Sonic game ever made. It's hard to articulate but the 2D modes are more fun than the original 2D versions and the 3D versions are much more polished than before.

If this is the new Sonic paradigm, then please, take my money.

Not actually that important
Got the game.
Looks fucking incredible on my PC. Incredible. Can't wait for next-gen Mario.
Although I have to say that at the moment that Sonic/characters/enemies blend too much with the backgrounds, hopefully I'll get accustomed to it?

Sonic Generations was one of my favorite games from 2011, everything in the game is perfect to me and the 2D Sonic sections are a blast to play
