Sonic Lost World v3.0.0 update coming December 11th (JP for now?)

(Original thread for the glitch, it's a funny read! http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=707393)

http://board.sonicstadium.org/topic...rsion-300-update-coming-around-december-11th/

Looks like it's going to fix the GROOVY broken universe, seizure inducing glitch of Frozen Factory's casino level. Coined the Strobe Glitch.

The message is in Japanese so it seems to only be official for JP at the moment but I'm certain other regions will get it soon enough.

Translation:

Thank you very much for your continued support of SEGA. At this time, we apologize for your trouble related with Sonic Lost World. We are deeply sorry.

In regards to your message, the company responsible is investigating this phenomenon. We apologize for this happening.

We plan on having this fixed on the Version 3.0.0 Update coming approximately December 11th. Please excuse us for having to ask you to wait until delivery. We are resolving to fix many other issues that different customers have reported as well.

Sincerely, SEGA.

Glitches were the least of this games problems. Frankly I'd say patching in 100 rings = life should be a higher priority.

As SSMB folks said, I also would love for a Cutscene Viewer and Sound Test as well.

But the 100 rings = extra life would be nice as well, and would NOT break the game at all, so it should be a cinch to implement.

They should patch out Lava Mountain Act 2 and its stupid bomb carts.

(But seriously, I hope they patch in 100 rings = 1up. That was such a dumb decision because the levels were designed to encourage you to collect loads of rings in hidden areas most of the times.)

Seems kinda weird to bump it up a whole version number when it's just a bug fix (unless they're adding other things they aren't telling us).

I played this game quite a lot and I never encountered this glitch. Was it really that bad?

Game wise no, you can simply pause it and leave with no damage done. It's annoying to have it happen when you're Red Ring hunting though (3RD RING UGH).

Health wise, YES, I can imagine it being disastrous to sensitive people. Hurts my eyes and I'm not sensitive!

This was a pretty risky thing to leave there for sure, as it could cause health issues. Not the kind of thing you want to deal with.

They should probably add some volume sliders to shut up the Deadly Six for mental sanity as well. :D

They should really freaking disable those dialogs for replays at least. It was annoying hearing the same dialog over and over when I'm trying to collect all red star rings.

I wish they could add Pro Controller support...

That's another thing that should be high priority. Patch out the gamepad bullshit. Every wisp should be able to be controlled with the analog stick and buttons. No touch controls. No tilt controls. I can see that being hard for the musical note wisp, but everything else seems like it should be doable.

Oh my god, yeah, especially the god awful Asteroid wisp. Gyro was the worst idea for it... That was unplayable, making getting 2 certain red star rings a complete annoyance.

Well who knows the context of:

We are resolving to fix many other issues that different customers have reported as well.

Glitch-wise the Strobe glitch is the only real vocal one, maybe the missing features are what they're referring to?

I seriously hated the Gyroscope support in this game, how the heck do you control the bird wisp?

Well for one, the game doesn't even give you the present it promises you when you do all the missions. That's missing, literally.

erm wow wtf

I really wish they delayed this game by 6 months or something. It really felt rushed halfway, you can sort of tell when the game starts to show how rushed it was halfway through. The sub-par level design in the later half, along with reused assets (hi Sky Road who is totally not Windy Hill and Desert Ruins) is kind of telling.

There's missing features...? What were they if you know them by any chance?

Well as others have said a Cutscene Viewer and Sound Test are glaring omissions.

100 rings = 1UP is completely absent as well, a first IIRC.

Others have even reported the reward for beating all missions is "fuckingnothing.gif", seriously, I heard it just shows you sparkles in place of the item, says congrats here it is, and nada!

Edit: HA! Beaten! LOL

Thanks for the shot, now I see it indeed is exactly that! WTF?!

Don't you think that was a conscious decision?

Likely is! But for a game like this, talk about the least good time to remove it!

Reviews mention this a lot. IIRC. So it is an issue with people.

It's a strange one too. You can really tell the game originally had that because the game often leads you to secret/alternate areas with tons of rings...

Yep, and really, rings are WORTHLESS sans for you know who when unlocked. Just have one and your good, your only incentive.

Does it fix the glitch where if you press forward on the controls you automatically win?

I kid

You joke but that glitch actually did exist in Sonic back in the day. Sonic 2 had that glitch in Emerald Hill act 1. Thankfully the glitch was fixed in act 2 and beyond.

Yeah, honestly, it's my biggest complaint with the game. I ain't even mad about the wisps since they are optional most of the time. The fact that they throw so many worthless rings at you is such a weird design choice.

It's weird that this game doesn't have a ranking system...

You collect all of these rings, yet there's no reason why you need to collect a mass amount of them...

A number of minor things that could fix this game...

There's actually a ranking system, but it's exclusive to time attack. ...But the rings are just as useful! :D!!! (because they really only rank you by time clear)

Well points more are for the leaderboards. BUT, ranks do exist for Time Attack IIRC, haven't tried it, but I saw a vid with an S Rank on the map.

Oh really? But I meant for the main game mostly. Thanks for that info, though!
