They need to release a physical edition with all of the classic artwork released so far. Give me a retro-style box, an OST with a few tracks, and the aforementioned artbook. Please.
...Hell, at this point I'd be happy with just a physical copy, nothing else. It's a damn shame that we're receiving so many physical items regarding the game (such as the vinyl release), but not that actual game. DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!
Amazing art though, hits me right in the feels.

Classic original '89 Naoto Oshima's Sonic is the only Sonic that exists, as far as I'm concerned.
You mean Classic Sonic, right? There isn't anything inherently wrong with Modern Sonic's design.
From my perspective/opinion, there should be no "Modern Sonic" to begin with (sorry, Sonic Adventure fans!). Classic Sonic should be the standard Sonic.

That Sonic design is on-point. That Tails...is a little bit of a homely (maybe it's just the expression). I wish they gave a go at Knuckles, even though he was a later character to the originals.
I knew someone would say that (and it's true). We could give the guy a break. I'm sure he doesn't really do much art at SEGA these days, right?

Adventure is the best design, imo. After that in 06 and beyond not so much. Classic is alright.

The hate for Modern Sonic style art I won't understand. Especially following Unleashed - always believed that style suited 3D gameplay more.
I will admit when I was 9 years old Sega first revealed the art for Sonic Adventure - was not a fan of Sonic's green eyes initially. But it doesn't bother me anymore.
I really hope the Mania style gameplay is here to stay and run alongside Sonic Team's future efforts

Agreed. Both styles are great. The only bad styles from any of the mainline Sonic games are the Americanized "Ass-brow" look he got on American box art in the 90's and how he looked in Sonic 06.
Both the original Classic design and the modern design are iconic. You couldn't ask for a better looking mascot.

I think the biggest issue the modern Sonic has going against it is that it's currently associated with a lot of mediocre or just plain bad Sonic games. So, when people see that model, they don't really think of good times with that character like they do with the original design. Only Sega can really fix that by releasing great games using the modern design so that people can eventually forget about a game like Sonic 2006.

It is a really nice piece of art. I love the way the solid colors are done in the background, too.

That would require people to get off of the autopilot "Sonic was never good", "Anything not Classic is trash", "lol remember Sonic 06" and "Look at this bad fanart I found" bullshit that people who don't actually care for the franchise love to get into. It's amazing how Neogaf is probably the best gaming forum on the web for nearly everything EXCEPT for Sonic, the one thing everyone who isn't a fan assumes has the worst fanbase ever. Like, I can just go to Sonic Retro or even the Sonic Stadium forums and find more reasonable conversations going on than anywhere on here (besides the Sonic OT which is actually good). Sonic is known for having a fanbase that can never agree on anything and yet there's less arguing and "hot takes" on those forums than on the average Sonic thread here.
Remember the thread about hoe Sonic Forces has custom characters and the whole thread derailed into people posting gross fetish art they found and then the thread was locked with a mod saying "This is why people don't like Sonic fans"? Embarrassing.
Hopefully guarding the Master Emerald for once.
As a Sonic fan, that stuff is hilarious and true. Sonic deserves to get shit on as long as the IP handling keeps fucking up.

Those are the ending poses for from Sonic 2. (And well, Sonic has the same pose in Sonic 1 too IIRC).

I don't hate Modern Sonic, I just feel that the change in-design was unnecessary. That doesn't mean I hate it, just that I prefer Classic Sonic as that was the version I grew up with.
There's absolutely a place for both in the Sonic-verse, but I greatly prefer Classic Sonic personally.
Which is why they prolly should've thrown him out the window.
If Sega was all people that either love classic or modern, we wouldn't get these awkwardly segmented games where the respective audience spends half the game feeling like they're jerked aside to do chores before they can get back to having fun.
Nintendo has the dignity to have NSMB and the 3D Marios be separate, but for some reason Sega want to rub people the right way only half of the time.
