Ah. That Reddit post, taking that with a grain of salt personally. An email to a random user is a far cry from official word.

They can spend time making a card game based on it, but they won't enhance the actual game for these new consoles coming out?

Anyhow, traded in some old consoles and a bunch of last Gen games for my pro. Can't wait.

This is wrong and the article which stated this was click-bait. It's actually quite the opposite.
That's not true. The report originally came from www.computerbase.de, who are a large and respectable tech site from Germany. Here's the operative sentence:

ComputerBase said:
Zen-Kerne und neue Grafik als Semi-Custom-Lösung soll es nicht vor 2018 geben, deutete AMDs Chefin Lisa Su in kleiner Runde an.
This does indeed claim that APUs with Zen will not arrive before 2018. The purported source is AMD's President Lisa Su from a presentation in mid-August, but speaking in small groups (e.g. in conversation afterwards, not from the stage as part of the presentation).

So this doesn't sound like official roadmap stuff, but it also can't be dismissed entirely as you suggest. The situation is unclear.

AMD have stated on their 12 month roadmap that they're actually ramping up for new semi-custom business, which has to be the Scorpio since AMD's semi-custom portfolio only consists of Sony and MS.
I believe this is where your assumptions have gone wrong. This AMD slide

states "Ramped game consoles and new semi-custom business" [emphasis mine], which suggests that the new business isn't a game console.

Is it worth getting this if you're a 1080p tv owner?

Not jumping on board the 4k train until i can get a 40 to 50 inch 4k hdr 10 tv for under £800.

I feel its a bit of a compromise and 4k will only be really relevant next generation.

I'll be using it with a 1080p plasma. I fully expect benefits including higher frame rates, higher fidelity graphical effects, and games running native 1080p. Many devs have already disclosed this is how they will approach 1080p, and as time progresses I anticipate this will be the norm.

From what I've read and understand, even if your TV does not support 4k and HDR settings you will still see the difference if the game is patched to have said difference.

IE, Final Fantasy XV is going to have a PS Pro... mode or setting/is compatible. So it should be the more optimum experience on PS4 to play the Pro version. Should get all the performance enhancements just not the 4k resolution and super nice effects ect. of HDR.

Has anyone heard if GTA 5 or Skyrim Remastered are going to benefit?

When was the cutoff date for PS4 games requiring a PS4Pro
Mode?
No news on GTAV, I wouldn't hold my breath. Bethesda announced Skyrim Remastered is taking full advantage of the Pro, and will be one of the few (currently) titles to run at native 4k.

As for the whole cutoff date requiring; that's up in the air. Sony has not confirmed if it is actually mandatory or if it is up to the developers, and there's been a lot of arguing back and forth between people about it.

Skyrim remastered has Pro enhancements.

I don't think we've heard about any GTA enhancements. But they are still continually patching this game because of GTA Online. So it's definitely possible it could happen as the game still been worked on.

They say SIE people contacted them today for the request of editing article to state PS4 Pro does support SATA Rev.3 (original said it only supports up to Rev.2), so I believe that's legit.
Oh man! I've been waiting to see if it had SATA3, but I wasn't expecting it. This can provide a massive boost for SSDs! I'm so excited to see this.

Only way I'll pick up a Pro, otherwise I'm content with the original PS4.
You think Gamestop will do their special trade in for the Pro? That $200 I'm ready for. Got 2 PS4's ready to turn in.
You guys can get a cool $125 for your PS4 and Xbox One. Not sure if the promotion is still going on, but that's what the deal was when the pro was announced. Yes, it's bullshit.

Has anyone heard anything about how quiet it will be? I know the slim is relatively quiet compared to the og PS4. I really hope that is the case for the Pro cause my PS4 sounds ridiculous when playing demanding games for a while.
I have one preordered and honsetly this is my biggest concern. I would like to think that for a 'pro' machine they have tried to make it as silent as possible but this is Sony we're talking about here....

That's awesome, and completely unexpected. By that, I mean it seemed like a no-brainer that the Pro would have SATA 3, given that's it's a relatively cheap upgrade and loading bottlenecks plague the current consoles... so I assumed it wouldn't have it. I'm still a bit bitter about no UHD Blu-ray.
Don't give a flip over here about UHD. I never watched a blu ray movie on ps3 and that will continue on my ps4 and ps4pro. The prices for UHD movies are ridiculous anyways. Doubt many people are willing to drop $25+ for one movie. By the time UHD movies will be affordable for the masses, next gen consoles will be released.

SATA3 is the big news for me. Console can finally take advantage of SSD's. I won't feel like I wasted $300+ on a SSD for marginal load speeds.

I'm guessing no one knows the answer to this, but is there any chance ps4 pro won't be compatible with some ps4 games? Thinking about giving my ps4 to a friend once I get the pro but it'd would need to be 100% perfect compatibility with my ps4 library.

Also it's still going to be region free, right?

And how easy will it be to move an account over and save games? I'm in the middle of like 3 ps4 50 hour+ jrpgs right now including P5 and I'm probably not gonna be done when Pro comes out, so I'll need to move my saves & dlc over without losing anything in the process.

Q: Will all PS4 games be compatible with PS4 Pro?
Yes, all existing PS4 games are fully compatible with PS4 Pro. Developers are able to add PS4 Pro enhancements to previously released PS4 games via a downloadable update if they choose to.
Yes to region free. You can upload the saves to the online storage or to a usb stick. Not sure about DLC, but I think it's tied to your PSN account, so you should be able to re-download it at anytime.

You can transfer all your games, save data, captures and even internet browser bookmarks using the new ethernet cable data transfer method that came with the 4.0 firmware update.I did it recently when i bought a cuh-1216a model ps4.It only took about 45mins to transfer everything.

SATA3 is a huge win if true.

Now we just need an affordable 2TB SSD.
That won't happen for a while right? They are all crazy expensive right now. 2TB for $600-$700? Yeah, no thanks.

That Seagate Firecuda 2TB SSHD is reasonably priced, but is there really a big difference between SSHD vs HDD? I'm probably just going to swap out the current 2TB I have in my og PS4 and put that in the Pro.
