Sorry, for new page:

So, to review:

Andy Gavin, co-creator of Crash Bandicoot, said in May, 2013:

Crash needs a total reboot. There’s an opportunity to reset the history, and go back to his creation story and the original conflict with Cortex. In that context, you could reprise classic Crash 1 and 2’s settings and villains. It would make sense to use a more modern, free-roaming style. I would concentrate on Looney Tunes-esque animation and really addictive action. That’s what we did with the original Crash, and there’s no reason it couldn’t be done today. Given [Activision's] Crash games, people forget that he was once cool. [Naughty Dog's] Crash had a certain whimsical edge to him. Sure, it was goofy – but it wasn’t dumb.
In August, an Activision rep accidentally said that the Crash rights no longer were with Activision and had returned back to Sony. They eventually claimed it was a mistake.

Then, the PS4 commercial with this sign released:

Then, Kevin Pereira leaked info that Sony was bringing back a "classic" Playstation franchise at the PS4 release event. However, only Uncharted was announced as making a comeback, so no announcements relating to classic franchises were made.

In November, a Reddit user reported seeing a Crash Bandicoot page for PS4 on Amazon.fr. However, he claimed the page was taken down soon after posting. (decent chance this was fake):

Later in November, the official Crash Bandicoot website was taken down, and all references to the series was removed from Activision's website.

On November 21, the phrase #BringBackBandicoot began to trend on Twitter, making it to the front page of IGN. Sony made no comment.

On November 22, when asked whether they still owned the rights to Crash, Activision declined to comment.

Later, GameInformer issued a statement from Activision concerning the franchise (damage control?):

Activision owns Crash Bandicoot and we continue to explore ways in which we could bring the beloved series back to life.
On November 26, Playstation Brazil tweeted the picture:

with the statement

Crash needs a hug.
The original Tweet has since been deleted.

And now, this:

lol this is the worst kept secret ever

Please tell me they are outsourcing this and not wasting manpower that should be working on The Last of Us 2.

I hate to be the cynic here but I'm stunned people think that Naughty Dog or anybody that big would put in the effort on a big AAA platformer. Let's get real, 2013 had some absolutely fantastic platformers come out. With the possible exception of 3d Mario (it will have legs) not one of them saw commercial success. Rayman Legends, Puppeteer and Tearaway are all critical successes, fantastic games and commercial flops. If there were any plans for a AAA Crash/Jax/Banjo revival they've been put on ice super quickly. They just wont sell and make absolutely zero sense for a studio like Naughty Dog to make. Why make a game that might sell 1m at most when you could make Uncharted/TLOU/new IP that would sell 5m+? The audience just isn't there on consoles anymore - most of those gamers are on mobile platforms which is why platformers do well on the ipad and the 3ds. Even console Mario seems to have lost a little steam. The best fans of these series can hope for is a downloadable PSN/XBLA game.
they said the same thing about FPS before the PS2 era.

It'd be foolish to put Naughty Dog on this. Probably MediaMolecule or Sanzaru (Sly 4 dev)

I like that you casually forget to mention that Boyes stated Activision still owns the rights recently
It's not like it'd be difficult for him to play coy in order to keep it a surprise.

Sony seriously just needs to come out and put this dog to sleep. Tell the fans it's not happening before the hype/delusion grows to dangerous levels.
I think ND knows that ... Which makes this even more compelling :)

It's happening (as they say)

This. I just want someone from Sony to say "We aren't going to make a Crash game, ever again." so this shit can lay to rest. Sony constantly trolling us with the possibility of a new SCE Crash is starting to become aggravating.

I would buy a PS4 for a Naughty Dog Crash game.
I'd buy 2 PS4s for a Naughty Dog Crash Team Racing game

Don't worry. Then we'll start bugging Gavin and Ruben to team up again for a Kickstarter.

The old Crash Team Racing game has barely aged and is still great to this day. Just give us a new one of those with more features and content.

Stop! I'm giving myself not to believe, don't push me over the edge.
There's just too much out there to ignore. The only possible negative could be that Crash is just going to be a playable character in Battle Royale, but I don't think his inclusion in that game warrants this amount of teasing.

I also think that ND now have a third team.

I truly believe the Crash franchise, along with the other characters are just as good as the Donkey Kong franchise (post NES).

He's a really good Mascot... but not because of the game alone... the commercials, the attitude that mirrored Sony's attitude of consoles at the time, the look... I never got into Jak and Dexter, or Rachet and Clank, or Banjo, or Spyro but along with Nights, Crash was a really good Mascot for a platfromer on exclusive Hardware.

All the people getting excited. Should the game even get made, it would sell like shit. Do not waste time on this horribly dated character.

Yes, please don't waste time on reviving an old character when you could make yet another third person cover shooter, there's really not enough of those already.

Would a sequel really work to that game? Can't they leave it as a one off?
I view similar to the *TLOU SPOILERS*
walking dead. They have created a new series with a deep and interesting world. The next one doesn't need to have Ellie or Joel in it even though it probably will. Probably be in control of ellie and have to bury joel.

I'm probably going to be called a troll, but am I seriously the only one that thought this game was pretty bad when it released? How are they going to update this to make it good for present times?

Fantastic title change.

Listen guys, I was part of #TeamCG. The great CG war was intensely hilarious and sparked some of the most interesting and funny discussions I've ever seen. So if you really believe Crash is coming back, with all your heart, please try harder to make everyone believe. As of now, Crash is a late 90's icon that fizzled out in the most silent way possible.
