Sony Denmark reposts 15 year old Crash holiday image on Facebook, CONSPIRACY?!!?!?!?

If Activision still owns the IP, isn't it worse for them to keep giving Sony permission to use Crash (in the highly suggestive road signs in one of the ads and now here) and fuel these rumours?
Eh, it gets the character out there so no one forgets about him by the time they eventually release a game.

Agreed

I tried playing Crash 3 for the first time this past weekend. Nope. Nothing about it was good at all.

I don't understand any of this Crash hype. Are people hoping for a Mario Galaxy quality Crash title? Do people want older Crash gameplay?

some of the quotes in this thread sound ignorant.

"going from Last of Us to Crash is tragic"

"Naughty Dog going back to Crash is a waste"

Do you know what Game Developers do? That's right, they develop games. Do you know it's boring for game Developers to keep producing the same genre of game, over and over again? You only grow as an artist by taking risks.

I'll go one further, if Hideo Kojima would have taken a break from Metal Gear Solid, and did more stuff (Policenauts, ZOE) I guarantee MGS4
which i love
wouldn't have felt like burden.

This is all hearsay, but Crash is Naughty Dog's creation. Despite the fact none of the creators are at Naughty Dog, Crash is still in the company's DNA. Don't go writing them off. It would be nice to have a solid platformer, that doesn't involve shooting people in the face.

Not sure I want another full AAA Crash game. I'd love one at like $20-30 that has a lower budget (with about as much content as the originals).

And guess what? Naughty Dog designers have said nothing about wanting to return to Crash or making another Crash game. All this hype has been from the die hard Crash fans which I never knew existed. Naughty Dog should be able to develop whatever they want, Crash or not.

Yeah pretty much what I would want...with a noncontrollable camera they could make the visuals rival Despicable Me

that's fine, and not entirely true. Me beef is with claiming that for Naughty Dog to develop a Crash game is a step back. It's like claiming Dr. Strangelove is a setback after Lolita or Psycho a setback after North by Northwest.

I hate to be the cynic here but I'm stunned people think that Naughty Dog or anybody that big would put in the effort on a big AAA platformer. Let's get real, 2013 had some absolutely fantastic platformers come out. With the possible exception of 3d Mario (it will have legs) not one of them saw commercial success. Rayman Legends, Puppeteer and Tearaway are all critical successes, fantastic games and commercial flops. If there were any plans for a AAA Crash/Jax/Banjo revival they've been put on ice super quickly. They just wont sell and make absolutely zero sense for a studio like Naughty Dog to make. Why make a game that might sell 1m at most when you could make Uncharted/TLOU/new IP that would sell 5m+? The audience just isn't there on consoles anymore - most of those gamers are on mobile platforms which is why platformers do well on the ipad and the 3ds. Even console Mario seems to have lost a little steam. The best fans of these series can hope for is a downloadable PSN/XBLA game.

So, to review:

Andy Gavin, co-creator of Crash Bandicoot, said in May, 2013:

Crash needs a total reboot. There’s an opportunity to reset the history, and go back to his creation story and the original conflict with Cortex. In that context, you could reprise classic Crash 1 and 2’s settings and villains. It would make sense to use a more modern, free-roaming style. I would concentrate on Looney Tunes-esque animation and really addictive action. That’s what we did with the original Crash, and there’s no reason it couldn’t be done today. Given [Activision's] Crash games, people forget that he was once cool. [Naughty Dog's] Crash had a certain whimsical edge to him. Sure, it was goofy – but it wasn’t dumb.

In August, an Activision rep accidentally said that the Crash rights no longer were with Activision and had returned back to Sony. They eventually claimed it was a mistake.

Then, the PS4 commercial with this sign released:

Then, Kevin Pereira leaked info that Sony was bringing back a "classic" Playstation franchise at the PS4 release event. However, only Uncharted was announced as making a comeback, so no announcements relating to classic franchises were made.

In November, a Reddit user reported seeing a Crash Bandicoot page for PS4 on Amazon.fr. However, he claimed the page was taken down soon after posting. (decent chance this was fake):

Later in November, the official Crash Bandicoot website was taken down, and all references to the series was removed from Activision's website.

On November 21, the phrase #BringBackBandicoot began to trend on Twitter, making it to the front page of IGN. Sony made no comment.

On November 22, when asked whether they still owned the rights to Crash, Activision declined to comment.

Later, GameInformer issued a statement from Activision concerning the franchise (damage control?):

Activision owns Crash Bandicoot and we continue to explore ways in which we could bring the beloved series back to life.

On November 26, Playstation Brazil tweeted the picture:

with the statement

Crash needs a hug.

The original Tweet has since been deleted.

And now, this:
