Sony Exec: "Team ICO working on 'the sequel' " - OPM UK

So I sent a couple hundreds of e-mails to OPM last month, right? And they've published one of them in this month's issue:

Me: "I have just read the PlayStation Legend page on Ico at the back of OPM, issue nine and can't stop wondering what Fumito Ueda and the rest of the team will come up with on PS3. I'm a big fan of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, like many others in the PlayStation community, and we're all waiting impatiently for the day when the next game will be announced. It's pretty unnerving that the only thing we know about Team ICO's next effort so far is that there is going to be one. Any chance of some inside info, OPM?"

Them: "We asked Sony boss Kaz Hirai what was going on with Team ICO a couple of months back. As he was pleading ignorance, one of the other execs present blurted out. "I'm pretty sure they're doing the sequel." Our fearless reporter immediately asked. "What, the sequel to ICO or Shadow of the Colossus?" Then the room filled with knockout gas...

So, it seems they don't know anything concrete. But it's encouraging that the next game is referred to as a sequel of some kind. That would mean it's based in the same setting as the previous games. Right?

I hope they mean the term "sequel" pretty loosely. I'd hate to see Fumito Ueda's group just do a repeat of ICO or Shadow of the Colossus, as much as I loved both of those games. Part of what makes this team so damned unique and refreshing is they currently have a perfect track record of coming up with totally original approaches to the adventure genre and not doing what anyone expected of them. That's what I want to continue to get from them.

I want Ueda to keep surprising me.

Breaking : Developer "working on game" rumour , no concrete details.... more to not follow.

Lets have a Parallequal - you play as one of the Colossii... squishing villagers , slamming yourself into scenery to knock plucky heroes off you before they reach your weak points, then going up against other more evil Colossii in a BIG GIGANTIC ULTRAMAN STYLE BATTLE TO THE DEATH.

I personally would LOVE to see a SOTC sequel, but either way I'll still be pleased.
O and for fuck's sake, show us something pleeeeeeeeease. Screens, trailer, gameplay vid, I don't care, just show me damnit!

I personally hope it is SotC 2 and not Ico 2. Both awesome games, but I do not like escorting people around.

Seriously. Crushed has to be an alt of Anihawk or something. "Oh, I just lurked here for a long time" doesn't cut it, especially not with stuff like this. Too awesome.

Team ICO will have to add something original then to keep their reputation for original game concepts; there are already far too many games in Japan that involve that.

I don't care how it works... they are the devs, they need to MAKE IT WORK:D

There are 2 games that would make me buy a ps3 today right at this moment. Te release of a remake, sequal, or prequel to SOTC....I just want the giant boss puzzles, or a remake of FFVII. These 2 games bring out my inner fanboyism.

I just want to see how their next game looks and plays on PS3 wow. Finally have hardware they can really move with. Oh and I like their games, but I like the visuals in their games a lot.

I know they must have been working on a game, but seeing confirmation is very nice.

Edit: and btw SotC was also rumored as a sequel of Ico, but turned into something totally different. I have no doubts that this will be turn out to be the same. It's a sequel to their game portfolio.

No, it's not rained on. Whatever they create is good enough for Team ICO fans. Going by ICO, and SotC. Both very great games, that stir up emotions, and exploration. Very subtle in story, and very subtle in beauty (Yes I went there!).

Then for the framerate, they'll dedicate hey wait a second.
