I dont know what you guys were expecting of Suite, it was clear from the begining it was going to be a platform for sony to re-release psone and maybe PSP games for android devices. The whole "it is going to be a Sony APP store omg" was crazy talk.

Now if it really works on nintendo consoles, that is really crazy hehe.

Nah, Hirai-sama noted that Suite would be a subplatform that would host new exclusive content alongside PSone Classics, and the such.

I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for all of this.

The Cafe is actually made by both Nintendo and Sony, they are teaming up next-gen against Microsoft!

Sony is making a BD-ROM drive attachment for the Wii.

I don't understand, how come iOS and Android marketplace can get away from being rated while Mini's, PS Suite and DSi store get rated. Also does Xbox Live Indie games get rated.

I think it's a voluntary thing. Nintendo and Sony could opt out of this, but they probably think it's of worthwhile value for consumers to have an independent age rating, or they just in principle support the idea.

The Sony and Nintendo booths are right next to each other at E3, maybe an announcement?

Sony and Nintendo share two letters in their names. We should have seen this coming ages ago!

Yeah it's a bit bold and surprising, but we really have no reason to doubt this. After all it does say FINAL in the rating summary, caps and all. Seems pretty final to me.

Final Fantasy helped the playstation seize the console market, playstation will die with a final fantasy. Fitting.

This all started when Ken Kutaragi came back from 2001 to warn Nintendo and Sony to not go ahead with the SNES add-on. Instead, they should split and feign a rivalry, so they could do a pincer attack on the "evil black X" that would release in 2001.

But it's not just for PSone games and PSP ports :) They want new mobile content for Suite, it is very clearly being targeted as an alternative to the Android Marketplace for games, and devs who perhaps want to try to extract more value from games.
Maybe, but that sound too much like hopes and dreams to me. I will belive it when i see it, dont want to get excited for nothing.

ESRB Rating Shows Sony Going Third Party

In a recent ESRB rating for Simon LF TEST 4/7 PSSuite, the site states that it will be available on the Nintendo DS, Nintendo DSi, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Certified Device and Wii.

Not much goes into details about what the game actually is but it seems that Sony might be going third party with their products or this is just a simple mistake from the ESRB.

What are your thoughts on this? Will Sony merge with Nintendo on a few aspects?

You guys seem to forget the difference with the Japanese compared to their American counterparts. This is not that big a deal.

Finally 3rd-parties will be free to bring PSX/2 to the Virtual Console without having to completely rework the games

sony games.... to the wii!?

do not want...!!

And why not?

I mean, ignoring the whole fact that this is probably just website tinkering, if it *were* true, I don't actually see a downside to it from a consumer standpoint.

ESRB had created a test to probably see how many platforms one of their boxes could fit. Interestingly this shows PlayStation Suite titles (PSSuite), and PlayStation Certified Devices. Does this mean PSSuite games will have to go through ESRB ratings like Minis? Will they be PS3 compatible as well? That's the real news here. The Nintendo platforms were just likely the ESRB fooling around.

ESRB Listing
they have been doing this for a while. the test will be deleted soon :p

Iwata: (laughs)

This will cause a rift in the space time continuum.

It's pretty fucking cool if true though, multiplat store linked in with the NGP - giving games far more reach to other users and maybe cross platform play, which is always a win.

'Uncharted 3? Dead to me'

'Dnt want no fuggin Uncharted Party games wit da week gfx'

I'm surprised Sony would let Suite titles come out on their competitors platforms, also if the Suite titles need to be rated by ESRB doesn't it make it hard and slower for games to get released on it, it won't be like iOS or Android store.
why would Sony have any control on where a publisher puts a game. PS Suite doesn't equal first party software only.

Isn't ESRB the industry from of protecting themselves against the government censorship and litigation? Apple is very strict with its approval process, but I wonder what would happen if porn games/rape sims start appearing on Android. Or if concerned moms suddenly are appealed that they children can easily buy Call of Dutyz and Grand Theft Autos on their iTouchs.

I can't believe how many sites posted this non-news. smh.

A few of them said this was Sony trying to make money since the PSN outage will surely cripple them and force them out of the hardware side. :lol

I see what Sony is trying to do (having the ESRB things because of the NGP), but I really think though that Apple has basically made the ESRB irrelevant.

Young kids are far more likely to own a iPod Touch than a NGP or an Android Tablet/phone. And Apple doesn't do it. Granted, they don't allow AO games, but then neither does Sony.

And beyond that, probably the worst danger kids face is not any actual game content, but the "free to play" schemes used in many of games aimed at children, like Capcom's rather dastardly Smurf Village
