Only to the individual but honestly how much does cumulative number of hours played matter to anyone?

The ranking is based on cumulative hours played across the playerbase, not on total number of players or sales.

This means that a game could have a low attach rate and not be significant to most but those who play it play it a lot more often. What would that mean to anyone? Manufacturer, publisher or those buying the console. I'll let you be the judge of that.

i've played 2 of those on my PS5.
Demons souls only because my PS5 came bundled with it. Valhalla only because i gameshare and thought my friend might want to try it (instead of me buying on Xbox where all my other AC games are).

My PS5 also came with Miles Morales. But i never opened because i haven't beaten the first game.

Fortnite & Destiny 2 i only play on Xbox because if ur going to play a shooter on console. It should be a controller with back paddles.

I wish i could contribute to the Demons Souls numbers. It's my favorite game of all time
Surprising spiderman dlc did so well... well mainstream so probably why i don't understand.
Although i can see those free2play games getting high numbers, people are broke from buying the console or paying a scalper.

Maybe in 2024 when we can go into stores or online and buy them without having to deal with bots , scalpers, assholes and companies that don't secure your shopping cart.
I gave up after 9 months of "the item in your shopping cart is no longer there to checkout" so basically people stealing from the cart.

Difference was I was able to buy a ps3 when MGS4 and GTA4 came out two top tier games. Now can't even get this console if i wanted to.

Also the damn ps4 is still priced at $399 and more due to supposed "Shortages" ....f sony. I have 100s of games I can't play as i can't replace my ps4.

No. Miles Morales is a stand alone game. Its surprising because this list is the most played games by hours and Miles Morales is a short single player game.

That was also only like $40 right? Much cheaper than $70. When that goes on sale (which it has been already) it’s a no brainer buy

PC is exactly the same, people with top of the line rigs are still playing Counter Strike, MOBAs, and MMOs. Multiplayer = more hours played.

Of my PS5 only games I can see that I’ve spent the most time in

First place is Returnal: 117h

Second place is Demon’s Souls: 86h

I’ve got the platinum in Demon’s Souls but not in Returnal, so I expect even more hours to go toward it.

For a reference, my most played games on PS4 are:

Dark Souls 3: 347h, got the platinum.

The Crew 2: 327h, actual wtf. Had no idea I spent so much time in that game. 73% trophy progression.

Dark Souls 2: 312h, 91% trophy progression, missing 2 spells for platinum(which requires two more playthroughs of the whole game, therefore I tapped out)

Jurassic World Evolution: 197h, got the platinum.

Bloodborne: 197h, got the platinum.

Dark Souls Remastered: 190h, got the platinum.

List makes sense. Sports games are highest on Playstation. Just because a new console has arrived doesn't mean people will stop playing it. Same with games like Fornite and COD. Demon's Souls is a launch game and requires a decent amount of hours so it makes sense that it's on the list. And Miles Morales is on the list based more on the strength of it's sales more than hours required from the user.

I played never winter alot. Played eso alot. And alot of mmo games on pc.

The problem with SP games is there is no social event. You are only playing with yourself. So the game has to get your attention to play it alot.

Also these f2p makes triple what games sold at 60$ make.

Right. For every genshin impact or apex there are like 15 arcadaggeons, hunting grounds, hunters arena etc.
