Sony Paris Games Week Conference 2015 Thread

Some of you probably have said this before but Jim Ryan is just terrible. He doesn't how to speak (I mean, there is no hype when he talks, Shawn Layden at E3 was MUCH better), he puts long pauses where it's not needed, not a fucking smile for the entire conference, you just feel like he don't want to be here (you feel that it's painful for him). Sony seriously needs to stop letting him host press conference.

For me this was a really really bad show...

Gran Turismo Sport - Dont care i dont like racing games
Detroit - Dont care for these kind of games i find them boring and so slow.
Dreams - Could be good but it was a pretty boring show, atleast we know you can make adventure games. Question is how hard is it to make something like that?
Uncharted 4 - Excited for the game but this multiplayer trailer was crap. No info on maps, loadouts, player count or game modes. If they just showed a live played match it would have been more exciting. Also give me a horde/mass effect 3 multiplayer mode.
Horizon - Im really looking forward to this game but this "trailer" or whatever it was were just the same thing s as E3 just worse. The ropetrap arrows didnt land where the player were aiming, there was this weird cut when he paused the game and floating rocks. The least they could do is change the weather or time of day.
Gravity Rush 2 - Never played Gravity rush but this does not look like my kind of game
Wild - It got my attention but this game could go either way.
No Man Skys - I will buy this game dont need to see more.
MatterFall - CGI trailer fuck off
Ratchet and Clank - not my kind of game
DriveClub Bikes - Dont care for racing
Street Fighter V - Dont care about competetive gaming
Black Ops 3 Zombies - Dont care Cod
Star Wars - Looks and sounds great but i dont care for competetive gaming
Rigs - Dont care about competetive gaming
Until Dawn and the Crytek Game dino game - On rails point and click game? dont care

I agree with this, even mentioned it in the other PGW thread a while ago, it should've been Michael Denny or someone else. I think Jim did better than he did at Gamescom last year, but he's still far from doing a good job.

Hmmm, four days later that account replied to someone writing that they'd have "exciting news about Rime" to share soon. Maybe it'll get a new trailer and release date somewhere between now and PSX then?

It's all a ruse. They simply want to dampen your spirits just so they can raise them again when Spanish Ico appears on the screen. Nothing to worry about.

uh oh

Lol.

Maybe they thought he meant the press conference and they will be at the showfloor? I'm holding some hope myself :p

Yeah he looked bored and unexcited by it all and it came across strongly. That didn't help the presentation of the conference which seemed a bit dull and lifeless because of it. This guy could have announced FFVIIR and Shenmue 3 and still looked bored.

Ok here is my theory.

Sony knew that after that amazing E3, everything they did at the PGW would be seen as dissapointing. I mean, other than showing Half Life 3 there is really nothing you can do that would top having The Las Guardian, FFVII Remake and Shenmue 3 in a single show.

So why try to have a great show if it's going to be seen as dissapointing anyway?.
Now that this is out of the way they can focus on PSX, and chances are that coming from a dissapointing conference like this one, it's going to be easier to make PSX look good. A decent conference will be recieved better if it comes after a dissapointing one than after a great one.

Because that was boring. Even the games I actually care about had borin showings. Here is the same segment of Horizon we showed at E3 except slightly different and with framedrops, here is a boring Uncharted online trailer which does a terrible job at giving you an idea of how it will actually play (they should have played a match live or at least show some pre recorded in game footage). Here is a super short Gravity Rush 2 trailer that's all about the combat.... without really explaining the combat.
Wild is probably the only thing that looked great. And I guess Gran Turismo for car fans, but they could have shown some ingame content, some nice shots of cars just makes it look like every racing game ever

Good Art™
Boundless was really cute! That's what i preferred in the conf.

Also Dream even if the showing did not do a lot to show the possibilities i think.

Boring show that had some cool looking games and announcements. Did this have one of the worst openings to a conference? Let's list some games already released earlier this year and pause for applause between each one. Really killed the mood.

Eugh, that part was horrific, I cringed the whole way through. Whoever thought that was a good idea needs a smack upside the head. And then trailers for CoD and Battlefront followed afterwards. It really was one of the worst opening portions to a Sony conference that I can remember.

Where the hell is Level-5?

Funny how they said months before E3 that their game would appear at the event. So much for that!

At this point I would guess that they did finish Alienation and the game is just waiting for a right moment to be released by Sony. So from their perspective that's true.

There are a lot of stuff which really fallen under the radar and I wish that instead of showing what was already known or giving so much time to SFV characters reveal SCEE would provide more info on games which were new or haven't been in the spotlight lately. Alienation is obviously one of them, Rime is MIA, GTSport unveil was rather bad and they should've shown some gameplay, UC4 MP showing with a CG trailer was really weird, etc. Basically the focus of the conference was wrong, less talk, CG and known stuff, more actual gameplay next time.

Yeah, could be. Speaking of Alienation, here's a new trailer:
https://youtu.be/85lZTRx_whM

And Housemarque's blog post:
http://www.housemarque.com/alienation-when-twin-stick-shooters-meet-loot/
ALIENATION: WHEN TWIN-STICK SHOOTERS MEET LOOT

IT'S A SCORCHED NEW WORLD

At the the beginning of Alienation’s development cycle, we sat down and looked at what had made one of our previous title, Dead Nation, so successful. There were of course a multitude of reasons for why people liked Dead Nation, but some stuck out, for example co-op play, the amount of enemies on screen, and the way we managed to squeeze out every drop of power from the physics engine.

With Alienation, not only we’re doubling down on tech, enemy numbers and destruction, but we’re also focusing our efforts on two more things: online co-op and loot. While the campaign is perfectly playable in single player, Alienation is built with collaboration in mind. Up to four players can take control of one of the three classes available (Bio-Specialist, Exoskeleton and Saboteur), and combo their powers to make sure the Xenos get their fair share of lead. Take a look at the following video to see what we mean:

While multiplayer is something we explored in the past, with Alienation we’re dipping our toes on loot for the first time. There will be nine types of resources to collect, and combining them will allow you to expand the capabilities of weapons or “reroll” their stats. On top of that, we built a solid XP system: the higher your level, the cooler the talents your character will be able to pull off.

Rest assured that Alienation is nearing completion – but as grandma used to say “the pie is not ready yet”. Stay tuned for more information on release date and gameplay details in the near future!

For me, you have really really bad taste. wtf do you like? Rhetorical question, I don't care.

Why even take the time to post a bunch of stuff about what you don't like? I would have just ignored the the thread, or simply said, "nothing spoke to me". This list, is meaningless.

More important, where the hell is Let It Die/Deep Down?

Hopefully, Suda woke up from whatever the fuck he was taking, and went back with Lily Bergamo concept.

And Deep Down is obviously, forever lost in the deep corner of capcom, whatever the fuck engine troubles.

Still though, I'd like to hear some official updates from these two.

You're just being a contrarian at this point.

People genuinly think a conference is bad because the game(s) they like/expect was (were) not there...
For all the pacing issue and the CRINGE WORTHY moments, this was a pretty solid showing with tons of titles.

This trailer has some numbers in it btw, I watched it yesterday. Don't know if that means anything. An example:

Alienation and Shadow of the Beast are up for preorder in PSN as well, both have release dates shown for them -- 2 March for Alienation and something something January for SoB.

I don't know where to post this exactly (and can't make a new thread) but Michael Denny, SCE Worldwide Studios VP, told VideoGamer at Paris Games Week that PS4 consoles sales are "well over 25 million". Was it already known?

Michael Denny said:
"Our installed base now is well over 25 million. That gives us a massive community of gamers, supported by a lot of new community features. We've got great games out there, more coming through. We're looking forward to 2016, it's an exciting time."

That and Japan Studio's JRPG are bound to show up soon. Hopefully PSX!
please?

I hate to be the bringer of bad news but apparently Japan Studio may not be working on a JRPG at the moment.

*Sony’s first party developers won’t make any JRPG in the foreseeable future (again, the answer was a clear cut “no” to whether we can expect any or not).

Unless they have already finished it and are just waiting to announce it (fingers crossed!).

Finally tried PS VR, damn it's pretty nice.

Got the game Hypercube on demo and I couldn't get it at first but once you get into it it's really good. The gamepad appearing in your virtual space is a nice touch too. Really was impressed by it, it's like a futuristic version of Tetris. Will try to do other games tomorrow.

Also met Adam Boyes, really nice guy!

Now that I think about it, it was a little weird Ubisoft didnt have a spot on the Sony stage. Being France and all. Get Yves on stage doing his thing with the home town crowd.

Does Ubisoft have many teams left in France these days outside of Ancel's team at Montpellier? I want to say The Crew team is french?

At least they threw AC on stage. What I will say, I am surprised how much stage time they gave SFV and Ono. Good decision I say.

Sony always loves to give Japan speakers a bit too much stage time. lol.

Ono is always fun to watch though. And getting Harada in on the fun is good. Its like a big ol' fighting game bromance they got going these days.

Microsoft has marketing rights on Rainbow Six: Siege and The Division, Assassin's Creed Syndicate just came out and there was no way they'd have Far Cry Primal and WiLD in the same press conference. Didn't really leave anything except maybe For Honor. Pretty sure Microsoft will get marketing rights for Ghost Recon: Wildlands as well.

So what are all the psvr games on demo there?
