Sony Pictures making Metal Gear movie!!!

Maybe he was laughing at his grabbing an invisible boob gesture.

Kojima could always team up with his jap director buddy Ryuhei Kitamura (he knows English), who's had experience doing MGS stuff with Twin Snakes and has been trying to make it big in America.

Also before the Twin Snakes haters start chasing me with forks: Kitamura originally did TS' cutscenes in a more passive style like the original, but Kojima specifically instructed Kitamura to go as crazy as he wanted
I hope not.

Metal Gear Am Ruined?

Columbia Pictures, Division of Sony Pictures, is in negotiations to acquire the rights to adapt "Metal Gear Solid."

Michael De Luca (Ghost Rider, Zathura: A Space Adventure) is producer,
Hideo Kojima (MGS Creator) and Rick Privman (Siren) are executive producers.

Sony producers Doug Belgrad (The Grudge 2) and Sam Dickerson will also be involved with the live-action adaptation; and Josh Bratman, who works for De Luca and introduced the project to Sony, will continue to act as a consultant.

The only good thing about this is Hideo Kojima being executive producer.... the rest... well... everything else is a bad sign...

I already made the comment and people were laughing at me.

Yeah, well you know what?

I haven't read through this thread and I know its full of bitching, crying, laughing and people with dry vaginas.

But if anything, this movie should use a 007 template (as far as story line and progression) with Kojima quirkiness.

I'll be good with just that.

i predict this will end badly. The only way it will work is if they turn it into some generic action flick. Try and translate the MGS game's sillyass plots and story telling style into a full on movie will have people laughing out of the theatre.

yup I hope Sony learned from their winning formula in Casino Royale and implement it in MGS The Movie

Another question I have....

Can Sony use the same strategy with Capcom's Devil May Cry to lock in the series exclusively to PS3?

With all this hate on for David Hayter playing Snake, how about we just have him write the movie instead?
He did a kickass job on X-Men.

Also:
Big Boss: Kurt Russell (passing down the "Snake" crown)
Liquid: Sean Bean
Snake: Hugh Jackman

Otherwise... whatever!

David Bowie as Psycho Mantis... :lol :lol

I never see movies for the "it's so bad, it's good" appeal, but I will make an exception if they make it faithful to the series.

Metal Gear will be the:

of movies.

They cannot take the "oh noh, we must change everything because regular movie goers will not be able to follow the game is properly adapted" route unless they are trying to get Uwe Boll on the directing chair.

That WOULD really end badly: MGS fans would certainly not flock to the movie theaters and the non-MGS fans/regular Joe's would not flock to the movie theaters either because it would still be a silly movie based on a silly game and they would have even one good reason to feel this way which would be the movie producers telling them and the press that the game is silly and if they do not change it a LOT it will make the movie incredibly silly.

It would be a disaster!

Park Chanwook is the only man wacky, yet talented enough to adapt this.

If this turns out to be a generic action flick (and I'm betting 99% that it is), I will be sad :(

If they cast that broadway singing tap dancing piano playing Hugh Jackman as Snake, I'll wipe my hands clean of the Metal Gear Saga and never look back.

Yea, I Hope they get this guy to play Snake cause...well...he looks like snake if he had the same hair cut/color.

someone might have already mentioned him but I am not gonna read the whole thread, too long.

Close the thread, I've found the perfect man:

He's the spitting image of him, plus he's worked with the guy that can play Liquid:

Sadly, unless Kojima puts a lot of stress on getting a good cast and a good director, this movie's going to suck.

Kojima needs to write the screenplay too.
