Saw this on IGN and thought it was interesting. Looks like there's a new shooter box in town if Sony's marketing research has anything to say about it.

The first-person shooter audience is shifting to PlayStation 4 this console generation, according to PlayStation group marketing manager Lauren Bradley.

"This generation, the shooter audience is tending to switch over to PS4, so we’ve got high expectations for Star Wars Battlefront around both launch and into next year," Bradley told MCV.

Of course since these gamers are looking a lot at graphical performance (when they don't have a PC) and PSN is now on par with Xbox Live so...

Except Halo fans I see almost no reasons not to switch.

Well, they got marketing and content deals for Battlefront, Blops 3, and Destiny. No shit shooter fans are getting PS4s.

Many shooters fans are switching to PC as well actually, as CS:GO growth shows. People want that old school shooter feel.

lol, what a shit article. I clicked expecting actual metrics/figures that showed proof, or at least trends, of FPS fans abandoning X1 to go to PS4.

Instead, the source is literally a marketing manager saying "The shooter audience is tending to switch over to PS4"

EDIT:

I for one cannot believe that Sony's marketing people say video game fans are switching to PS4.

Basically, yeah.

True but its just that PS4 is the go to console of this generation much like 360 was during the last. And FPS is simply a very popular genre.

But I'd like to see Sony also doing some sort of Elite controller kind of thing.

On par as in you have to pay for it?

Sony: Did we mention we have marketing deals with the two biggest shooting franchises this holiday?

Ditto, I just want something with a better battery. I buy a lot of single player games on Xbox for battery life alone. Play my multiplayer on ps4 tho

The place to be for shooters imo but this has been said like 5.9 billion times
useless shitty reference... but I couldn't help to put 5.9 instead of just 1

Tbf it probably is true with Cod, Battlefront and Destiny all siding with Playstation for marketing etc. But yeah, even if it isn't true marketing people are not going to say otherwise.

XB1 controller and Halo 5 made it easy for me about choosing XB1 in that regard though.

Everybody is switching to PS4. It has the most variety, dozens of games for fans of any genre.

Biggest console shooters appear to be Destiny, CoD and Battlef. Sony got the marketing on them all.

I'm amazed they didn't react to Elite controller this fall. With the marketing push for all major shooters it would have been perfect timing.

Every COD pro player and most community members of groups have switched to PS4. It's the best platform out of the two for everything pretty much. If you have both, the choice is easy.

Well this matches my anecdotal experiences. Every shooter fan I know from my rather large university that played on 360 switched to PS4 this gen.

Not me.

Still prefer an Xbox pad for shooters.
This is my dilemma as well, particularly with Elite controller now out. I have Black Ops 3 and Battlefront pre-ordered for PS4, but I'm thinking of switching them to X1.
