The problem with getting any traction for change on this is that the "problem" is the absence of something. Specifically any sort of dissenting/deviating opinion from the boiler-plate progressive/intersectionalist rhetoric.

Its a hard thing to pin down because as with all the rest of authoritarian leftism, they hide behind legitimate concerns. Its basically "think of the children v2.0". The desire isn't for voices exclaiming "fuck the children!", its for people to point out how conveniently faddishly performative all this stuff is.

The big lie is that everything operates on a binary morality, where being tired of the chatter about inclusiveness means you must be pro exclusion! Which is bullshit of course, but precisely what they'll connote it as.

So what you are saying is morality is a non-binary spectrum?

As someone who is neither a liberal or conservative, it just boggles the mind why so many in tech and gaming hate conservatives so much. Judging someone as an individual and not generalizing entire groups of people used to be a very liberal way of thinking. If there is a conservative who is an asshole, then hate them because they’re an asshole.

It’s just so out of touch and really makes them come off as ignorant.

Every conservative belief is considered horrible and asshole-ish these days by people in the gaming industry. Even very lukewarm ones like not wanting all guns banned and being pro life. Even if you disagree with their point of view, I don’t consider those beliefs offensive at all and logically you should be able to agree that you can make a good case either way.

I’m not in the industry, I don’t know how hardcore the hatred runs. But if one doesn’t think if Person X goes into an interview with a gaming site or publication and somehow it comes up that they’re a conservative or voted for Trump or are against abortion or something... if you don’t think they will get pushed to the back of the line for that job, you’re just naive.

In the same token though, I think if you’re a really well respected media personality who has built up years of a good reputation, just coming out and saying you’re a conservative may not be enough in itself to destroy your career, but I guarantee you people in the industry will start looking at them differently and waiting for them to say something they don’t like because they’re now going to be viewed through a different lens. I think liberals just get more leeway. Two people might make the same joke, but if one is known as a conservative, they may jump down his throat because there’s this belief that conservatives are innately racist or bigoted. Meanwhile, the liberal guy who made the same joke won’t even be noticed.

They were all taught by Communists in college. Conservatism and Religion are the biggest blocks from implementing Communism. You will notice that religion, outside of Islam due to having a mutual enemy, is also a big target for the same people. Conservatism is based in individualism. Its the antithesis of Communism and its collectivist mindset. While religion is usually collectivist as well, communism puts all power in the state. Religion puts that same power in otherworldly forces, God, Karma, etc.

As EviLore pointed out earlier, it isn't right or left.

Look at the Battlefield 5 controversy. The Gaming Media wanted the story to be about Gamers hating Female inclusion. They didn't stop and wonder why women were suddenly a problem when the previous 3 Dice games (Battle Front 1 & 2, Battlefield 1) had Female Soldiers. That there is crossover between Battlefield, Call Of Duty, Siege and many other Shooters in their player base... All of which had Female Soldiers prior to Battlefield 5.

In reality saying the negative reception to Battlefield 5 reveal trailer was because of Female Soldiers is = to saying people didn't like Season 8 of Game of Thrones because it had Women.

Would having more Right or simply not Extreme Far Left members in Game Journalism pointed out the inconsistent/hypocritical narrative? Probably not. Maybe at best they just don't print that type of story. But it doesn't combat the issue much.

I have a different read. I went to art school and it was heavily skewed on liberal thinking but part of that was opening one up to different cultures, ideas, and perspectives. This was not to invalidate one or the other, but to expose yourself to it. At the end of it all, there was a push to think for ones self but remain critical.

This "new progressive/ neo-progressive" is not that. This is more of an indoctrination on one set of values and beliefs and seeing it as morally superior to others. This is an echo chamber that has to attack other perspectives to crush them under its heel lest you lose control and power.

I said it before, there is nothing liberal about this shit. It's totalitarian and authoritarian. This is not the real "liberal" as it once was, but a power play subverting itself in the trappings of it. But now, it's wholesale unrecognizable of what it once was.

In this industry, you have a hoarde of journalists and the loser wannabe activists over at ResetEra ready to dive on anyone who says anything incompatible with SJW beliefs.

People keep quiet because they don't want to deal with the harassment. Thankfully these idiots don't represent the gaming industry at large, hence why their websites are all dying and the likes of Colin and Yong are raking in a shit tonne.

I would say your read and mine aren't exactly different. I just think the indoctrination you are talking about comes from Communist/Socialist college professors.

What ideals are being imposed upon the readers of gaming reviews that you won't find in every other critique of popular media? Can you provide some examples? It would seem, if the industry were to adopt your preferred method of appraisal, that the reviews would read something to the effect of, "These graphics sure are pretty. The guns were very loud and went "BOOM!" The colors were bright and fun to look at. This game is awesome."
Are you just a troll? Your previous post trying to compare conservatives to NAMBLA didn’t catch on, so you came back and tried this embarrassingly stupid strawman?

Well, for example there was a person (actually multiple people, I think) that gave Monster Hunter: World shit because “colonialism” and “animal abuse”.

Not only are those themes unrelated to the gameplay and story, but they are actually directly contradicted by both the story and Monster Hunter’s overarching theme of “there must be balance and synthesis between mankind and nature”.

The game was slandered simply because someone wanted to use it as a soapbox to virtue signal about an irrelevant topic.

religion? lol, these SJWs have their own religion.

they believe in unscientific bullshit with zero evidence, they attack everyone who dares to go against their doctrine and they hide their real believes if they differ from the established narrative.

saying religion is a block against communism is like saying salt water is a block against fresh water, these 2 things are basically the same thing with a different taste to them.

desperate, lost and dumb people will always fall for religions no matter what mask they're wearing

It's obvious that you're just trying to stir shit up, but you should really learn how to read. If you read my post, you'll see that I made no comment on who should or should not be hired. I merely pointed how absurd Jason's claims were. He has proven himself to be a coward with thin skin. He's too unhinged to deal with reality, and anyone who takes his side is similarly unhinged.

Reminder to everyone, the zombies are cute, but don’t let them derail an entire thread to focus on their insanity. Lots of interesting things to talk about here.

One might almost say that’s their goal, judging how they swarm on these topics, and these topics alone.
Bingo. Some people can’t help themselves, but to engage with them, even though it’s obvious they’re not here to have an honest discussion.

I’ll put them in their place sometimes, but I’m not going to waste my time thinking out and writing a multi-part response because it is oh so obvious that it will get ignored/deflected and the back and forth will go around in circles. You can pick the type from a mile away.

I either ignore them completely or just call them out for what they are and move on. I don’t have time to waste on duplicitous idiots.

Thanks mate, you said almost everything I could say on this matter. I couldn't have said it better.

I'm treated like I'm a "far right" Trump supporter (I'm not) and a terrible human being in the mentioned places when I just speak out my mind.

I feel like politics discussions in video games nowadays is too much, and I just want to game without having this shoved in my face all the times like in every other places. And apparently, I'm not free to feel this way.
I'm hated for not hating, this is insane. I get hate for not getting outraged at something, because in their POV everyone who is a "good person" should feel outraged collectively.
Damn, this world is really damned.

This is why nobody should even watch reviews or any type of content made by these so called proffesional journalists.
Independent youtube content ftw.

You're right. Unfortunately for many they are like rock stars. Hopefully all people will think for themselves and use their own criteria instead of putting it in the hands of others.

Ironic given the Easy Allies are (or were) massive fans of ResetEra.

Is that really a surprise? Easy Allies are huge SJWs, the only difference is they rarely let it affect their content.

Colin's asked Schrier to come on Sacred Symbols to discuss it. Bet he blocks him in response.

Lol you have no idea...
A shitload of people wait for reviews to decide if they are gonna buy a game.

Because experience and your hears and eyes are less important than what a mediocre skilled wannabe journalist has to say...
Reading reviews and political views are two different things. I couldn't give two shits what someone like say Jason Schreiers political views are when he is reporting on something non-politival in the gaming industry. When he reports something political I ignore it and don't take him seriously.

Eh, I wouldn't say that. Only a few are huge SJWs (Ian and Damiani in particular). But folks like Brad, Bloodworth, and Ben seem to just want to talk about games and enjoy them, not worry about what is/isn't offensive.

The others I can't quite get a read on.

Ugh, god yea, Ian is insufferable.

Bosman made a segment for condemning CD Projekt's "transphobic" tweets and I remember Huber getting worked up about it too.

Brad, Bloodworth and Jones might be more indifferent about all this shite.

Hey, Rick Hoeg is still sorting out his membership privileges (mods: maybe give the account HoegLaw HoegLaw a looksie, Hoeg is good people) so I'm posting this relevant video on his behalf:

Is games journalism secretly run by a political "clique"? Mere "conspiracy theory nonsense" or is it that conformity of thought tends to weed out dissidents?

So I went to check the replies to the "conspiracy theory nonsense" tweet and boy they are entertaining. It seems like Jason is blocking almost everyone that has replied to that tweet with legit questions. People are asking him to name a single center or right leaning games journo and - BLOCK.

Pretty shitty imo.

Nope don't listen to talk radio or watch Faux News, just a 37 year old gamer. I went to college with the same type of communism pushing professors. If I had them at my shitty college in Tennessee, they are definitely at the schools on the coasts.

So I watched in its entirety, and it is definitely worth a view so I subbed too. I will say GAF for anyone who is reading this, watch at least the last 25 minutes. HoegLaw HoegLaw gives pretty good personal experience on what sophnar0747 sophnar0747 points to in her article. #NeverHideYourBobbleHead

However I will say I avoid sites like Kotaku/Polygon because of the over the top Politics. While I understand why you read an article "RE2 and the Police Station", I wouldn't go near it. At best I would via an archive link. But I simply don't want to feed the machine if you will. I feel at best this stuff is going on for clicks, so I have no desire to encourage it. Similar to don't feed the trolls I guess.

But I do appreciate your prospective. Have a Soto on the House :messenger_beermugs:
