South Park Season 24's premier episode is, of course, about COVID-19

Been watching season 1 recently. When you see the sheer quality of those episodes it becomes clear that South Park has become a mere shadow of what it once was.
Season one wasn’t the peak, and for a show that’s been on as long was sp it’s still pretty damn good. I don’t mind the current events stuff but it does make it hard to rewatch

There's the thing. That first season will be funny for as long as that style of humour remains funny. It's no hostage to time and place. Sure to an extent it takes me back to a time just as part of nostalgia and memory, but it exists outside of that too, where topical comedy is more of a one and done thing. In 10 years when we've all forgotten about Trump will the topical stuff of the last few years hold up in the same way? I suspect not.

Is South Park still good? I haven't seen it in years... and Simpsons and Family Guy have definitely declined in quality.

Not as great as the gloy years but still good.

Actually some of the latest seasons are better now because they have become more relevant.

The season about the trolls before Trump was elected is funnier and more relevant today than it was back then.

Troll season (2016 season) was great. Everyone needs to rewatch it with 2019/2020 eyes.

The whole sub plot with Cartman getting a GF, going to Mars, Girls are funny, dropping out of social media, and all the troll stuff is actually way more relevant today than it was in 2016. I rewatched a lot of the episodes recently and it really works. I mean the whole thing about the trolling and social media is on point for what we have been seeing the last few months.

I really suggest to watch that season again with fresh eyes.

I couldn’t stand that season, but I’ll give it a go.

Just finished my second watch of that season last night and couldn't agree more.

Not bad.

Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but why did Butters' dad change so suddenly from pro-mask to anti-mask?

I recently decided to get back into South Park after not watching it for like 20 years

Started on a random season and ended up on season 20 since it was a nice round number

Ended up being the troll season. I have one episode to go until I finish the season but it’s pretty fucking great. Not sure where to go after season 20. Haven’t decided if I’ll go back a few seasons or just move to season 21.

About to watch the pandemic episode rn

Loved the special. Although they should've just ended it and rolled credits after the flamethrower scene instead of wrapping up Randys storyline. Would've been funnier.

Read his follow up tweet. He's not trying to censor it, he's surprised that this made it to air in an era of triggered people cancelling things.

He's not the one trying to cancel it. People using that video ARE though because they're idiots.

It's only a matter of time now before everyone and everything is cancelled, so hopefully we can all regain some sanity soon. The gays are fighting with the feminists, who are fighting with the terfs, who are fighting with the transgenders, who are fighting with the gender pronoun people, and they all continue to circle the drain. I have no energy for any of it anymore.

Thought it was good but like many said it lost some steam towards the end.

Still good to see south park back.

The rioting stuff fell a bit flat and I liked the police jokes, but they covered it better with the SodaSopa epiosde where the cops were all fired and the kids dress up like "Ninja's".

Was pretty good overall if not quite great, it still got some good laughs out of me.

I do think, however, that Randy's Weed Farm still being such a big focus is getting kinda old after few seasons.

A lot of good things in this episode and even though I'm pro-police, I laughed at how they were portrayed. I do love the meta about the specials though, and the ending was great.

I watched it late at night and I'll have to watch it again, but I'm trying to understand the fire scene at the end. It's likely a commentary on the fires in California but it sorta came out of nowhere and I wonder if it means the end of Tegridy Farms.

Can someone photoshop Randy's mustache on Trump LOL.

I did find some inconsistencies in the episode, since we know Randy can cum like a madman based on the Internet episode, so he should of had no problem getting all his DNA into his pandemic special. All he needed was some Brazilian fart porn.

I can't get enough of Randy and Mickey on drug fueled benders. Thus far nothing has topped Winnie the Pooh being taken out with garrote wire.... Randy is the true star of the show

Just watched it and it was pretty enjoyable albeit grimly on point with the school dystopia.

Pretty much the only old school cartoon of its kind that still holds up. Randy is the fucking best. Oh, and the writing just keeps improving

It was funny for the first 10 minutes or so. The series has really lost the edge in the last 5-6 seasons. There are many episodes in seasons 4-12 that have an almost endless rewatch-value.

It was pretty poor imho, a few good running gags but it felt kinda labored and stretched out.

Go watch season 19 instead, its shockingly prescient.

dont forget this was nearly 50 minutes long while most episodes are 25 or so. There have only been a few 2 or 3 parters over the 23 seasons.

If they want to really push it I would have Garrison run for re election, but as Ms. Garrison, to be the first ever woman POTUS.

That's not an inconsistency. Randy came a lot (encountered a spooky ghost) because he hadn't cum in a long time so it was building up.

The majority of the volume of human make semen doesn't come from your testes. Testicles only make sperm, those microscopic gametes. Most of your cum consists of fluid generated by your prostate, seminal vesicles, and Cowper's gland.
