EUROPEAN MARKETSHARE BY VALUE (HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE)
In the graph it says its down by 14,7% to 11691m €.

From a HD twins only perspective, the PS3 is kicking the shit out of the 360. If this pattern is similar across all of the EU (other than the UK) then that can more than make up for the shit-kicking in the US.

Explains why things are getting so close worldwide.

I think PS3 has the upper hand in many continental countries, but Spain is known to be very favorable to Sony. The sales should be more balanced in the other countries.

France, Germany, Spain and Italy are all favorable to Sony. Europe has always been an uphill battle for MS, except for UK.

Interesting data. Thanks!

From what I know France is usually pro-Nintendo, and Italy counter-Nintendo.

PS3 is huge in the south, as in, Portugal/Spain/Italy. In Scandinavia last I heard it was the 360 kicking the shit out of the PS3. And in France/Germany/Benelux it was more or less even, with a slight edge to the PS3. UK is the closest to the US though.

Only MW2 and FIFA 10 in the top 50, ouch. Expected it though (well, I expected MW2 and PES 2010 but close enough :lol)

From what I have visited Spain, there were stores that weren't even selling 360s. :lol It's like a mini-Japan hardware preference wise.

Interesting how FIFA 10 on the 360 is outsold by the PS3, PS2 and PSP versions, and the PS3 and PS2 versions of FIFA 09. Wow...

Really? What stores?

I've yet to find a store that doesn't sell 360s

Nintendo seems to be doing fantastically in Italy.
Yep. Italy seems to be a bit like Spain, just not that radically anti-Microsoft:p

Just to note that Portugal showed an increase of 19,8% of marketshare value. We're doing our bit.:lol

*I already saw this graph on GAF a while ago. I remember doing a similar comment! :D

edit: I don't know in other countries but Microsoft completely ignores Portugal in terms of marketing effort. Sure our size is negligible comparing with the UK/France/Germany markets but it should be no surprise to anyone that MS has a residual presence in our country if they don't take the effort to change that.

Sony and the football market. They are one of the big sponsors of the UEFA Champions League and EA partner with Sony every year to promote the game for Playstation. They have that market sewn up.

Even in the UK EA had an advertisement that spanned the entire Half-time ad break that pushed FIFA on PS3. Chelsea Vs Man U game. Must have been a couple of years ago now, but I was surprised to see the lengths they'd go to co-market it.

I love footie, but sometimes FIFA gets a little too much hype. OPM UK and First Play seem to talk about FIFA all the fucking time.

PS3 has been kicking the shit out of 360 after the 399€ price drop for PS3. At least in Finland.

PS3 has a bigger marketshare in the Netherlands. PS3 games have been topping 360 versions in the Dutch games charts for at least a year.

Its not specified but I guess top5 counts bundled software while top50 doesn't (?), at least on the DS, because Wii Sports is lacking and its on every Wii SKU. #5 More Brain Training should be DS as well...

The difference in game sales is about 32% PS3, 20% 360. Console share is almost equivalent to game sales.
Sweden's game sales is almost the same with 30% PS3, 24% 360.
PC gaming though is not dead in Scandinavia, so PC still rocks the charts.
