How good was Rome? I never saw it.
It's the most all-around impressive show I've ever seen on television. The 1st season specifically, before the show's high cost prematurely ended it.

It's good, but somewhat overrated on GAF.
Fixed.
Eh, Rome falls into the B-tier of HBO shows alongside things like Carnivale and Big Love. Compared to The Wire, Deadwood, The Sopranos, In Treatment, Curb or the better seasons of Six Feet Under it's nothing special.

Rome was terrible. avoid it
Rome was terrible. avoid it
I would have words.
WhatthefuckisthisIdon'teven...
Also, the writers are too attached to Ashur's wolf pack. Team Spartacus needed to cut down some of them to make the fight more interesting, but they just couldn't get rid of any of the cool characters.

All of this makes her attempt to kill Ilithyia both understandable and completely gut-wrenching. The look Law gives when realizing how badly shes misjudged Spartacus intent is devastating, conveying just how much connection she fears has been lost in a moment between them. And if Law rises to the occasion tonight, so too does Liam McIntyre, who honestly hasnt been given many different notes and shades to play since leaving Capua early in the season. Yes, its jarring to see his face inserted into scenes from Blood and Sand while reliving his one night with Ilithyia. But seeing him struggle to stay righteous in the face of easy opportunity to balance the bloody scales with Glaber yields some of McIntyres best work of the year.
Damn good ep, even if I knew exactly how it would play out; Glaber no longer loves his wife, and Spartacus is no animal - he was never going to kill her.
I'm confused by Gannicus' stance though. He would be branded a traitor and dead man regardless of whether Spartacus decided to kill her or not...so why was he pissed? It's not like he could waltz back to Rome if Illythria had been killed.
Gannicus didn't kidnap Ilithiya for selfish reasons, he did it do that the rebellion could end and no more innocent slaves would be crucified. That's why he got pissed that Spartacus didn't take this opportunity to end everything.Damn good ep, even if I knew exactly how it would play out; Glaber no longer loves his wife, and Spartacus is no animal - he was never going to kill her.

And the Rome hate on this page is embarrassing. May the Gods strike such opinion from existence. Rome is GREAT.
There is literally one post on this page saying anything negative about Rome.
"Hate" at this point just means "do not like as much." So yeah, let's cease all the Rome HATE and accept it as the great show it is.
There are some things in life that are black and white, no grey. When talking about Rome, you either think it's great, or you're wrong. Sorry man, I didn't make the rules.
Ow, my head... Carnivàle and Rome are, together with Six Feet Under and Deadwood, by far my favorite HBO shows.Eh, Rome falls into the B-tier of HBO shows alongside things like Carnivale and Big Love.

Also, Agron and Nasir. <3 Longest kiss yet, but stupid Mira came along and interrupted their hallway sex. >:/
Yeah, Carnivale and Rome are some of my favorite HBO shows. The mythology and aesthetics of Carnivale was superb.
Ashur is such a disgusting fuck. The rape scenes are brutal. Need him to die at the hands of Oenomaus or Crixus soon.
+1
Carnivale was A-tier. We used to have parties weekly for Carnivale.
