Spike VGA Award Nominees

Apparently these are also going out over time, so we'll just put them here as they come.

Game Of The Year: (Voted By Journalists Who Already Have Review Copies)
-Batman: Arkham City
-The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
-The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword
-Portal 2
-Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Most Anticipated: (Viewer Vote)
-BioShock: Infinite
-Diablo 3
-Halo 4
-Mass Effect 3
-The Last Guardian

For the curious, these are the people who chose the nominees and will choose the winners.

So you now know who to be angry at/thank/etc for including/not including your favorite game.

Hilarious that they include games that aren't out yet.

Arkham City and Portal 2 seem good choices though, surprised that BF3 and MW3 aren't there but I'm perfectly ok with that.

No Gears or CoD is a huge surprise. Not a surprise however: they're all fall games except for Portal 2.

VGA nominees are determined by our press advisory board. They have advance code on games, hence why you see nominations for games out soon.

There. Explained.

Game Of The Year:
-Batman: Arkham City
-The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
-The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword
-Portal 2
-Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

2 of the games aren't out yet, one came out 2 days ago, and another barely just got out of its post release hype.

so there is a 60% chance Nolan North will win GOTY. 80% chance if he is in Skyrim somewhere which isnt hard to imagine.

Go North!

The judges have played all the games. They get early copies.
Well, even than not everything has already came out. And it is a bad option since this is a user vote.

To clarify, I mean that they probably haven't played something like Rayman: Origins, just my guess.

It isn't a no brainer, there is a lot of quality this year although Arkham City is very good.

I'm also ok with Dark Souls not being in it, there are a lot of things wrong in the game that the new patch will fix.

I think Nolan North should host the VGAs......dressed as Drake. He certainly would probably perform better than Brokeback Jake and whoever else they got to do the crappy hosting job in the years prior.

And not Dark Souls.

Love the whole DS zealotry thing I really do. But why would you ever think there are enough people out there that think like you guys do. Its niche and polarizing. There is just no way it would show up on that list.

Game of the year is NOT a user vote. The OP's been updated to reflect that.

Is that the final official list? Very surprised Zelda got on there although it's well-deserving of a GOTY after seeing the early reviews.

Also surprised MW3, BF3, and Gears 3 isn't on there.

Kinda odd to release the list at this time.

And Gears isn't on there? Way to skip the best TPS this year.

I'm really surprised to see The Last Guardian even mentioned. I don't think alot of mainstream gamers have even heard of it.

It's critically acclaimed, and the votes were made by journalists.

Since 3/5 of the game listed are not even released i guess the VGA game the year award is more a popularity/fanboy contest.

No Pokemon Black in the GOTY category? I for one am shocked and incredibly disappointed. How could such an illustrious and important award show fail to add such an original and revolutionary game to it's list?
