- Outsourcing as 3d graphic next-gen on the development of : Rush a Dysney Pixar Adventure (Asobo Studio, XBOX360), Test Drive unlimited (Eden Studio, XBOX360) and confidential game (Ivory Tower, XBOX360, PS3,PS4)

I never got around to TDU2, but I remember fans of the original being disappointed with it. What exactly were the issues with the sequel?

Man, TDU was an awesome game. If they did it again without the stupid license stuff and just allowed people to drive around and enjoy the world, then I'm all in. Might be enough for me to pick up an Xbox or PS4.

Now.... this could be very interesting. TDU was freaking amazing. TDU 2 was a train wreck in some cases. Actually most. The exception was Ibizu, night/day (so awesome), and weather (also amazing). Everything else was too limited or just straight up bad. I'd get on board if this game was good. If it's anything close to TDU I'd be game. I love just driving around.

The handling for one. Felt very nice in first one, and second one was just a horrific mess. It felt more like riding on rain slick roads ALL the time. The buying stuff for your house was too limited to be anything fun or interesting. Couldn't just move stuff in your house, was just extremely limited. Once you completed missions they were gone for good, so making money could become difficult. Some minor tweaks to Oahu kind of irked me. More specifically the house in the crater east of Honolulu. Name evades me at the moment. That was my house in TDU, but in 2 was gone. Lots of small things that added up to something large. For me though, the biggest issue was handling. It just wasn't fun feeling like I was always on a slip 'n slide while driving.

Not to mention the sheer number of cars missing. No Lamborghinis and virtually no Japanese cars. Also, it was not possible to customize a Ferrari or even paint it a different color. The first game allowed for customizing of all cars that I know of. Being stuck with a damn red Enzo sucked.

I hope it's better than TDU. I know I'm in a minority in saying this, but TDU wasn't a good game. poor handling, poor pacing, poorly structured racing, it was a game that was full of unrealised potential.

strange that durango / nextbox isn't mentioned. sony buying next gen exclusive rights?

If it's Ubisoft, then it'll probably come to multiple systems unless Sony paid for it specifically. Which I doubt. There's been no official announcement, so the only thing to get from this tweet is that PS4 is now on the list to get it as well as whatever other systems they were working on.

good point. I'm not getting too excited by this announcement based on their previous output though.

still, new gen, new opportunities and so on.

Genres Ubisoft has attempted to break into:

Skateboarding: Shaun White Skateboarding
Snowboarding: Shaun White Snowboarding
Competitive shooter: Shootmania, Ghost Recon Online
Fitness games: Your Shape Fitness Evolved
Flight simulators: HAWX
RTS: RUSE
Laser tag: Battle Tag

Have any of these been well received? Ubisoft seems to have a terrible track record with breaking out of their core franchises. Just Dance seems to be the only breakaway hit they've had.

And now they're trying to revive one of the most poorly received racing games of the generation? Glad that Eden is getting another chance but I don't think this will succeed.

Will definitely keep an eye out. TDU was a fantastic game. Shame about the faults in TDU2 but a new game maybe worth a look.
