At first it just seems like a less effective roller, but then I noticed it basically lets you run full-speed into enemy territory without getting bogged down in paint AND it doesn't have the roller's slower speed. I think there'll be some interesting strategies for it down the line.
Seems kind of like the "melee" equivalent of the charge rifle. You can essentially be the bannerman for the team and lay a strip of ink down, creating a quick inroad for your teammates to charge into an enemy zone and start covering an area more thoroughly. The higher run-speed and tighter turning radius mean you have an easier time weaving and evading enemy fire and I bet its equivalent of the roller's "splash" attack has a decent fan-spread to it. Probably not something you'd really want more than one member of your team to use in any given match but there's certainly utility there.
