Tsugumomo - #12

Guess this is the last we'll ever see of Tsugumomo in anime form though, which is a shame since the Mayoiga and Kanaka arcs that come after this were where things finally got better (even though it's still chock-full of fanservice). Oh well...
Why? Did it bomb or something?

It's still better than ToLove Ru, which did get multiple seasons, but there's so much trash fanservice in Tsugumomo I really don't think it'll get the chance to go anywhere past this season.

The worst part is that most of the fanservice is about non-consensual lewd situations were one party abuses their power or authority over the other to do sexual stuff with them, which is a pretty low place to go when looking for comedy; but then there's also the thing that the mangaka has shown that we can have some interesting stories and battles in there, even though that content is almost completely surrounded by cheap smut.

Edit: Basically, I'd rather not live on a timeline where Tsugumomo gets a season two while other shows that deserve it more do not.

Ymir and Historia are both fine characters to me but, and that's one of the anime's biggest weaknesses, they got too much screentime without developing their relationship and conflicts, really. They were essentially yelling at each other about living for themselves, not lying, trust and so forth on like 4+ different occasions.

Starts with the episode on Utgard Castle ruins where Ymir transformed at the end. Then the following episode where we got the flashback that went into more detail of essentially the same thing. And, well on the three 'charge after Reiner' episodes, they still argued about the same thing. Including the flashback detailing her past and arguing about taking Christa with Reiner and Bertholt, where she kept reiterating what we already knew constantly.

Where was the real development there that justified THAT much screentime?

Honestly, I find even the starting point of the relationship so utterly ridiculous that I can't even get past that. Ymir decides to devote her life to someone she didn't even talked to, met or saw but just because she overheard some talk that made this unknown person's situation somewhat similar to hers earlier on. The cynical Ymir, the thief Ymir, judging by those flashbacks, who cherished her new found freedom and life, chose to join army and even the Erwin's corps where she could die or out herself daily for that. For complete stranger. Like, I'm trying but my suspension of disbelief is absolutely not allowing me to take seriously such disregard for self-preservation instinct.

But yeah, a lot of their relationship is them screaming platitutes and each other, Ymir flip flapping about what course of action to take and taking, after due consideration, the dumbest possible one under the sun.

Little Witch Academia 24

I can't quite put my finger on why this is so toothless, even in its climax parts but it really is.

Where the hell did that
nuke even come from?

Ehhh I mean it might. Not holding out hope for another season or anything but I was just wondering why people were so sure it's done.

I want it to get another another season though, some of the stuff that happens later on is fucking awesome.

Yeah, the two arcs right after this one are pretty awesome. The latest arc is absolutely yawn-inducing and as much of a stock plot thread as they come, though.

I'd rather not have more anime that perpetuates awfully creepy smut for the luls while stuff like Kokoro Connect or Umineko don't get completely adapted and SNAFU is still kept on hiatus or something. Oh, and they can probably take their 2016-17 Berseks while we're at it.

I mean the latest arc is still cool to me, fights are still great and I can't wait to see Kazuya ruin the old dude. It's whatever though, I won't be torn up if it doesn't continue but it'd be cool if the future stuff did get animated is all. In any case there's probably still going to be trashy anime being made and it doesn't really correlate to any other shows not being made or continued. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh god, please don't remind me about that old geezer... he's gone past the moral event horizon in every possible way, so I really hope he ends up groveling for the rest of his life or something.

And while I'd say Tsugumomo is indeed better than other trashy shows from previous seasons (such as Big Order or that Ataraxia HxH thing) thanks to the shonen parts actually being good , I really am not a fan of the way fanservice is spiraling into an ever-increasing ball of lewd that thends to alienate lots of people... or assimilating them into thinking it's okay. There's no rule stating that more Tsugumomos mean less wholesome anime, but then again it kind of does since the entertainment industry tends to rely on fads, and these kinds of shows doing okay means more companies might want to try their hand at adapting or coming up with series that are basically whatever genre... IN SPACE BUT LEWD!

The Laughing Salesman New 12 END

mCTHATo.jpg

This is what my nightmares look like.

I would like to say first and foremost - fuck this show. Don't watch it. Its mean spirited, morally empty and without a message.

You know anthology shows like The Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock Presents usually give a scenario where you are waiting for a character to "get theirs" or to see where a single mistake can lead you. The setups and endings are different - you could be following a character you want to see succeed or one you want to see fail, and the supernatural aspects they sometimes encounter vary wildly and the shows make good use of plot twists to throw you off the trail.

The issue with The Laughing Salesman is that it does none of that. Let me explain to you every single episode - every single story, of which there are two in each episode - of The Laughing Salesman.

  1. All people in this world - young and old, male and female - are lonely at heart. My name is Moguro, they call me the Laughing Salesman but I'm no ordinary salesman I deal in peoples hearts, oh no I don't need a single yen the best thing is to see the face of a satisfied customer
  2. Introducing our Japanese worker bee who will be ruined for no reason, ****-san
  3. Something goes wrong
  4. Moguro appears and does his shtick then gives them a device that solves the issue, warning them that if they misuse it or use it to much there will be consequences. Or sometimes he causes the issue himself?
  5. Heres where you might see some variation! The customer either misuses it or is led into scenarios where they have to use it.
  6. PUNISHMENT TIME DOOOOOOOOM
  7. Uneven punishments that usually don't fit the scale of the crime or have an ironic Sisyphean nature to them

And thats it. The issue is that the show never bothers to stray from these tight confines. It is usually not a fulfilling show to watch either, as good people - some who Moguro purposefully creates a situation for them to be trapped into so he can punish them for misusing something he gave them to solve the problem he made - get punished through no fault of their own and for no moral reason. There are stories where the person is pretty shitty and gets whats coming, but I can't think of a single one where they would have ended up at that point without Moguro.

So is the issue that its far too depressing, bleak, pessimistic and fatalistic? Yeah a little bit. But I think the issue is more along the lines of the show just being not very good. Aside from the strong visual direction (aside from flashing to pictures of Hell all the time. Stop doing that its the opposite of clever.) I wouldn't classify this as a good show. It has plenty of things about it that seem interesting and I spent the majority of the season trying to decide if it had some deep commentary on Japanese society, fate or Bystander Syndrome locked in there but I really don't think so - its just a mean spirited show with no human soul. This is in no small part due to the series mascot - the ever smiling, fat and mysterious Laughing Salesman, Moguro. Moguro isn't a human, angel, demon or god. He's not anything. He's just a force, I guess. No story in this happens without his direct intervention, and he seems to have reality bending powers that require the viewer to just roll with it. Want a natural story about a fall from grace? Well fuck off because Moguro's only method of tricking people is to design most of the failure from the ground up. These people aren't bad, even the ones with bad tendencies or those who abuse the power because Moguro is always the one behind it all. Nothing happens without Moguro. Since he is essentially the narrator, I would say he is similar to the Cryptkeeper but with more direct impact on the story. But since none of these stories would happen without Moguro its like...whats the point here? Trying to make a statement about fatalism? Why have the direct hand of Moguro unnaturally steer people in the wrong direction then? Free will? None of these outcomes would have come together without Moguro setting them into a situation which causes the things to happen, and one of these people choose this. Moguro just leads them there, by force or foul play if necessary. If someone denies his requests he will just steal their purse or some shit and runaway until they listen and are connived into a scenario of shit. Its just...ugh. Have a message. The message is never "misuse of power is wrong" or "this is the morally wrong thing to do" its "Haha here is Salaryman Takamoto-san, drink this water that makes you feel better about your shitty life. But don't drink too much or else you'll be punished, probably in a way that doesn't reflect the theme of the episode at all BECAUSE WE HAVE NO THEME."

You know whats scarier then the Devil? The fact that there is no Devil, and humans don't need the help of any evil creature to be evil themselves.

I spit on this show.

Rin Daughters of Whateversyne END

Pretty high on the trash scale, yet low on the entertainment value scale.

The World YAMIZUKAN 11

I make fun of this show a lot but I actually don't dislike it. Its definitely uneven but the variations in the pulpy art style really make each episode interesting - although it is literally just stills - even if the story is out there or odd (scept for that clown what wtf)

This part was really, really good though

For people who want more detail from the pics I post.

Following its release last year, Kimi no Na wa (Your Name) became the highest-grossing anime film of all time, nudging Spirited Away from the spot. Now, to no one's surprise, the movie has another, quite different spinoff on the way: a porn parody.

According to The Hyped Geek, the upcoming porn version will be titled Kimi no Nawa, a play on words which changes the meaning to 'Your Rope(s)'. The story will revolve around a girl destined to become a shrine maiden whose body must be purified by the ritual of bondage, because of course. There is also mention of the merging of mind and body, though probably not quite in the same way as the source material.

While the anime movie tells the tale of two people bound by fate, the porn version tells the tale of people bound by… ropes. Kimi no Nawa will star adult actress Ayane Suzukawa, who you might remember from classics like Pure Lesbian Love and Young Beauties Quick to Spread Their Legs. The live-action video is being produced by adult movie company KM Produce whose last foray into full-length movies was an adaptation of the much darker Rape manga.

According to the specs listed on Amazon, the 130 minute long DVD is not region-locked, so anyone worldwide will be able to experience the movie, if they so desire. Kimi no Nawa will be released on June 23, 2017, and you can already preorder it on Amazon Japan for a discounted ¥3,036. You can also get a limited edition deal which includes the DVD and a set of panties. There are only 150 of these sets available, so hurry, I guess?

Sonic Generations was a good game with a horrible final boss fight. But was it worse than Sonic 06's final boss? That is the question.

LWA - 24

This was a very toothless first parter to the finale. I'm actually really disappointed, seeing as how straight out crazy some Trigger finale tends to be I was expecting something more but who knows, maybe the final episode would be something spectacular, I'm not hopeful with how the series has been though.

But who's the evil scienetist who's plans of revenge are going to be recorded by the miliary? Where's the giant lizard that's going to get a giant space station stuck up his ass? Is Akko going to gesture wanker to all of us as she goes super???

I would rather beat No More Heroes 2 on hard's, Drakengard 1 AND Drakengard 3's final boss then fight Generation's final boss.

Ok maybe not Drakengard 3 but still

Sonic Generations was a good game with a horrible final boss fight.

Omg yes. I got fed up with that crap and never bothered to finish it because I hated the final fight so much. Someone gets me. Yay.

Also: Code Geass S1 - Fin
What a cliffhanger. Too bad I already decided to finish Gundam X, watch a movie and start Turn A Gundam before I get back to this. Also I find it cool that Funi included the audio picture dramas. Though not sure how I feel that one is basically pure fan service.

Edit: er, two of them are pure fanservice.

It means Trigger is the anime equivalent of Sonic Team where they never stop being a disappointment and make the same mistakes every time

Nah, I think you're way off with that comparison. There's a world of difference between Trigger and Sonic Team. I would say that the video game studio Trigger is closest to would be Grasshopper Manufacture.

I dont think Generations is a good game but it certainly isnt a burning trash fire like most Sonic games so yeah it looks way better in comparison until you look at Mario Galaxy 2 which came out a year before it

The final boss of Generations was bullshit but the entire game up until that point was well designed Classic Sonic stages that people have wanted for a long time.

Colors is where they finally nailed that Modern Sonic feel to make the game actually enjoyable.

Yeah it's no Mario Galaxy 2, but I can still recommend both games as legit good platformers.

Sonic Generations had input delay on the 360 version. Sonic always jumped a second too late.

It was a bad game.

Then the PC version came out, and all was well.

Dear AnimeGaf

Are we really ready for this in real life?

Update: Got the pic from another source so, you should able to see it now.

It took me forever to see the rope, then I went "oh". Then I saw the shape of the comet, and went "OH".

I thought this was just a regular live-action adaption at first.

Shokugeki no Soma Episode 9:

So it's not very often where it's the rival character who is an absolute try-hard. Though I like that Takumi is actually not portrayed as a complete joke, and is actually about as skilled as Soma t what he does. He's just such a dork that he keeps embarrassing himself by trying to act like a badass.

the best thing about post adventure sonic games is the never ending cascade of hilariously bad butt rock

Honestly NMH2's final boss isn't any harder on hard. It's just as bs on normal.

idk he has more health doesnt he

I never beat Henry in 1 but it took me about 45 minutes to kill Bad Girl on hard

Wow that's literally the exact opposite of my list.

I dunno whether to be impressed at our diverse tastes or consider you my mortal enemy.

EDIT - So I haven't been watching LWA, does Akko have to collect the seven chaos emeralds or something?
