•Q: Do you have plans to release titles that were once popular?
A: Wada noted that the new Tomb Raider does not have a number attached to it. This is because Square Enix is looking into reviving a number of titles. They're always investigating how to "reboot" past titles.

•Q: Are there plans to release a new Mana game?

A: Wada said that Square Enix will be doing ports of Mana and Saga titles, but there are no plans at present to release a completely new entries/series.

•Q: Are there plans on making a real life casino like the casino in Dragon Quest?
A: Square Enix is releasing games like Battle Road in arcades, but there are no plans for an actual casino.

•Q: How much did Square Enix lose due to PSN's downtime? Will you seek compensation from Sony?
A: PSN-related earnings losses were in the hundreds of millions of yen, but specifics are not clear at present. While they expect consultations with Sony, they don't expect something like compensation.

•Q: Front Mission's reviews were terrible
A: Wada replied that he sees all the reviews at Amazon and in magazines. He believes they should have worked harder on the game.

•Q: How will Square Enix use social networks for promotions to reach fans?
A: Square Enix feels that it has at last gotten the hang of producing games for social networks. It hopes to release its IP content on social networks from this year.

there goes your Romancing SaGa 4!

Good. Each and every release gets worse and worse.

I wish they hadn't gone to shit in the first place, but I'm happy to not see them be butchered over and over again.

Based on their recent track record this is probably a good thing. They're already dead, we don't need to drag the corpses through the street.

Mana is obvious since Ishii left. SaGa is unfortunate, but the DS remakes didn't meet expectations.

Well looks like they are going to rely more and more on FF DQ and KH. I have zero expectations coming from them about creating a new worthwhile franchise.

Nooooooooo! :(

The Last Remnant was a good SaGa game without actually having the SaGa name. Was hoping they would get a few ideas from that and do a new game in the series since I doubt a TLR2 will ever happen.

I'd be happy if the trade off were that they'd be trying new RPG properties instead of more FF/KH-based games, but I'm not so sure of that yet. :/

The rate they are pumping out games I wouldn't expect them to be released anytime soon anyways. It's probably for the best.

This will one day apply to the Final Fantasy series.

(if it doesn't already)

Just gimme another turn based RPG with music by Ito and an imaginative art style. SaGa name doesnt have to be attached.

Last great SaGa game I played was SaGa Frontier.

I'm hoping they continue Tactics Ogre though. I think that one actually beat expectations.

Tri-Ace's last game was with Sega, they're currently making two with Konami, and they said their tech demo with Star Ocean wasn't actually related to any games they had in development, so things aren't looking so healthy right now on that front.

The remake of 2 on DS?

Edit: Oh yeah, they did another remake on DS didn't they? Remakes don't carry the series forward though.

I feel like any hope for another Last Remnant game was killed when Hiroshi Takai was put on FF14 as part of the salvaging plan.

Didn't Saga 2 sell pretty well? Last number I can find was 160k; that seems more than reasonable for a remake of a mid tier franchise, what were they expecting? But I guess Saga 3 bombed big enough for both of them...

Am I missing something? I thought Lufia was a Natsume property.
Natsume published the localized versions.

Taito was the original Japanese publisher, who got bought by Square Enix.

Wow. That is weird. I can't imagine why Natsume would publish Curse of the Sinistrals and not Square Enix. That's quite interesting, to say the least.

By the way, for every strike you used on that list, I'm going to make a strike in my wrist.

We've only been getting remakes anyway since blasted Unlimited destroyed the franchise.
And theses remakes...OMG they're the perfect template of how to do a remake to make the most impressive homage to the game rereleased.

They'll probably fuck it up the way they fucked up FFT - > FFTA.

They just released The 3rd Birthday... so take out Parasite Eve with the benefit of the doubt...

Srsly. Children Of Mana was already super stupid.

Actually that's the last playable one, the others are unmitigated disasters.
I don't even know how they could fuck up Dawn of Mana and Heroes of Mana was expected I guess.

Nah FFTA was fine, the problem is FFTA2....

The remakes are great, but not making them reach outside of Japan kills off the series. It's a shame as the originals were great and the remakes better. But the series was dead long before those.

To be fair, if tri-Ace is still sticking to their usual style in regards to sequels, SO5 wouldn't happen until next gen anyway. Dunno about Valkyrie Profile.

Have no idea just how good (or bad) their relationship is with Square Enix at the moment however.

It bombed really badly. They released a SaGa game around the same time and killed off the series for the same reason.

Dunno what they'll do with Valkyrie Profile.
I think they would still be working with Square Enix though if they had planned to continue relations.

Resonance of Fate was their first non-Square Enix game, and now they went and signed up two more.

I was hoping it would get new life once he left as hes the one whose done all the harm to the series. I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that the reason the Mana games kept changing was he didn't want to make the same game over and over again. Which is fair enough, its just when those games keep sucking maybe you should stick to what worked for you.

That said I will say that Children of Mana is a good albeit flawed game, it had potential to be a great game, but just is way too grindy and samey. Every one of the quest you do is the exact same thing, do X amount of floors in a dungeon. If they had of added a little variety in missons, made magic alot more useful then I think the game would of been amazing. It looked great and had the usual standout Mana soundtrack. Oh and smashing enemies around with the hammer was way too much fun.

fixed [everything but Dragon Quest scratched out]

LOL

I can't say about Kingdom Hearts (was never interested) but FF has been dead to me since around FF12. Dragon Quest is about it for me too.

It's too bad they screwed up Mana. Fun multiplayer RPG like Mana / SD3 would be great on XBL or something.

well still waiting for FF versus 13 how long ago did they first show that? SE next new game 2016?

I really hope they working on some new IP if not.................

Really it's like the company has lost of its drive and inspiration.
A complete shell of its former self.

They're at about the level of Konami as far as I can tell.

I remember in the PSone days how the big releases were from Eidos or Squaresoft. Now Square have to rely on Eidos and Enix IPs :(
