Star Wars Pod Racing recreated in Unreal Engine 4

Pod Racer was one the first PC games I got. The graphics amazed me but my system was not powerful enough to do it justice. Would love to play it again.

I remember playing this on my cousin's PC years ago and having an absolute blast. Probably my only good memory of the new trilogy.

The arcade game was so much fun. I spent quite a few bucks at the New York, New York casino in Vegas playing that thing.

Also, loved the PS2 game Revenge. Would be amazing to get a contemporary pod racer game but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Probably a student project right? No way this will ever be even playable?

Its just a pretty scene set up in UE4. Doesn't look playable.

edit: yep, on the polygon thread he states that its just a diorama
Hey Guys in my spare time while not working I have been making a couple of environment projects. I figured I start a thread for one of them as it is getting to a good place where I can showcase it. As a load of Artists at work are making Star Wars Environments at the moment I thought I would jump on the train and start making Sebulba's Podracer, the plan is also to make a diorama desert environment to pose it in.

Not when EA see it and shut it down.

I don't understand projects like this. If they are planning on making it into a playable game, why not take the idea they like (Pod Racers arcade game) and just theme it differently / remove the visual similarities to Star Wars.

The ships could control the same, just look different, maybe an FZero vibe.

Chuck it up on Kickstarter with the promise of 60fps.

Edit - read it's not a game, just an art project. A shame :(

Those beauty shots of the Pod racers up close are rendered in Marmoset Toolbag, not UE4.
Marmoset is probably the nicest rendering engine going, meaning the final in-game podracers won't look that nice - I'm sure they'll still look great though.

That said, I need this. My childhood consisted of playing Ep1 Podracer in the shop Currys as my mum looked at washing machines and shit. If this becomes a full UE4 game, sign me the hell up.

Man I wish there was a new podracing game like the one for PS2 * . *

That star wars kinect racing or whatever does LOOK decent visually.

I am looking for any excuse for a new game, but I'd love it [the excuse] to be from VII. So new racers, mix of tracks, and it would just look and sound amazing.

Come on! Maybe this is that rumoured exclusive?! Hah...
