I've just won my first store :_), using my regional Firespray list (Missile Boba + Andrasta Emon). It's official, I'm not a scrub anymore \o/

Barcelona Regional (100 players) is next week, although this time I'll use my ARC list (Norra-Thane-Biggs) for some variety. We'll see how many games I fuck up by myself :p

Bought the Punishing One expansion and flew Dengar a couple hours later yesterday and man, he's insane. All my victories were because of his firing arc counter attack.

Nice job, Nete. Hope the upcoming regional fares better for you than the last one.

I got to try a dual K-Wing list yesterday that I have had waiting in the reserves for a while. Miranda and a Wardan with TLTs, tons of bombs, and Sabine on Miranda. The local group kind of had a 'game day' at a store yesterday and some people who were new to the game showed up. I didn't get to fly my list in an ideal 1v1 match to fully test it: a guy I've played with before teamed up with me to go against two people who were new and learning. They flew Imperial, a quickly thrown together list of Vader, Inquisitor, Echo, Fel, Ryad, Mithel, and some other named TIE. We explained a lot of the rules to them and then helped them with their lists and gave them a lot of guidance and loaned out some cards to them like Autothrusters on Fel. We flew Thane, Tycho and Arvel in A-Wings, and then my Wardan Sq Pilot and Miranda. It was a learning game for the other two, so we didn't set out to crush them or anything and helped explain more rules and give them guidance on optimal moves during play. I lost all shields on Miranda but was okay not regen-ing them as I got in a good position to launch a 5-die Homing Missile at Ryad. My Wardan Sq Pilot didn't get touched at all. My partner lost an A-Wing and had Thane at 1 hull by the end. I was a stranger to bombs and still didn't have much K-Wing experience but all of my SLAMs were great and I got some great Connor Nets off and even laid down a perfect Thermal Detonator that hit the two TIEs (killing one of them and dealing two damage to the other). I found out that I am not as bad as I thought I would be with judging distance and space for SLAMs and dropping bombs that hit. I dealt the killing blow at the end with an expertly dropped thermal detonator.

It's not a list that I think I can do really well with against a good competitor at this point but I look forward to flying it soon.

Rebels really need some help. There is very little lists that are actually competitive. The u wing is garbage. 1 agility small ships blow up too fast too. I mean all the original ships are all garbage. Xwing/ywing/bwing/awing, all shit. It's just kinda wild how must of these ships are shit besides casual use.

Photo Time!

Anyone on the fence about painting. Do it, just buy some paints, get some brushes and have a go at a simple recolour. It relaxes the hell out of me

I finally took the plunge and recolored my 'TIE Advanced Prototypes' based on your comments and examples of using a pure blue wash. I added a little bit of green to mine and finished it off with a "Gun Metal Grey" pass on the cockpit frame (which is shinier than the standard Fantasy Flight paint jobs, but I think it really makes the model pop).

Here is a regular 'TIE Defender', my painted 'TIE Advanced Prototype', and a regular 'TIE Advanced Prototype' for comparison:

For a first try at painting, I'm quite pleased with the results.

That looks spot on. What wash did you use? the citadel one? What was your wash to water ratio? I'm curious because it looks very smooth, much smoother than mine, actually.

Does the Millennium Falcon not count as an "original ship"? It's still pretty competitive, isn't it? And the Y-Wing is good when you put Twin Laser Turret on it.

I think B-Wings are being ignored by the metagame; they've always been pretty good ships. I just flew three of them with an Attack Shuttle last week and they did decently against a Dengar and a Moralo Eval (I pulled out a win, but barely).

I had to sell my entire collection due to some unforeseen life expenses. It hurts, but I'm actually looking forward to rebuilding a more focused collection, since it was getting out of hand and I was hardly playing to begin with.

Probably just stick to Imps or Scum next time around.

I'm going to miss the Tantive IV though, even if I never actually used it. Love that model.

Thanks!

I used Blue and Green Vallejo washes. I had practiced on some really bare bones looking Micromachines and settled on a 3-to-1 ratio of blue to green (not watered down at all).

My approach was to do a 1st pass, let it dry for a few minutes, and then go over it again. Then, I pooled up some water next to my wash puddle, and brought in a bit of the wash to the water pool and did a final coat on the model where needed. After that, I painted the cockpit trim.

That being said, a lot of it was luck. The 1st model turned out better than the second (not shown) as the wash started pooling oddly on one of the wings and I had to rub the paint off and redo it a handful of times.

That sucks. At least this time you probably have a better idea of what cards/ships you'd really play with.

Millennium falcon is only good now because of Rey. Ywing tlt is OK, scum ywing tlt way better with unhinged or r4. Bwings are meh, 1 agility is pointless and the dial is the worst sans hawk, FCS is the only upgrade that makes them remotely useful. The OG crew is too expensive for what they are, worst action economy in the game.

Back from Barcelona regional with Norra (PTL, Tail, title, Vectored, R2D2) - Thane (R2D6, Lone Wolf, Finn, title) - Biggs (R4D6, Integrated), with a 4-2 to finish 27th of 100, just 77 MOV points shy of the top. I started 0-2, so I'm pretty happy with how it ended.

Game 1
38-100 against Maarek-Rexler (both x/7, Juke and Stealth) - Scimitar shuttle. He finished 6-0 in the swiss.

A game it could have gone quite different but I'm and idiot and played 50 minutes without using Finn as I keeped forgeting I had it. I mean, Maarek was at 1 hull for several rounds and Rexler ended at 1 or 2 hull... and Thane did attack both several times. Oh well :p

Game 2
48-100 against Doom Shuttle (!) - can't remember which Defender - a generic TIE/sf - Dark Curse.

He had Target Locks with all the ships that could during all the game. He only needed to spend one. One of those games.

Game 3
100-26 against double Ion /D Deltas and a Tractor/LRS Firespray.

A weird list, but he has played it *a lot* with good success, winning some tournaments. I managed to obliterate a Delta in the first pass which meant Biggs survived a coulpe more turns than I expected at the start. Which also meant Norra and Thane only had to worry on dealing damage, something they are pretty good at.

Game 4
100-60 against a Fat Han - Luke (!!)

I tried to focus on Han but he keeped dancing all around evading my arcs, so I was forced to smash Luke to pieces first, losing Biggs in the process because Han and crits. From there, it was a cat and mouse game between the rocks while I tried to force him to divide his shots between both ARCs. It worked kinda well, until I forget (again) to use Finn in a certain attack that left Han with 1 hull left. In the next turn Han killed Thane with a Range 1 shot, and with it any hope I had left of getting a good MOV for the top.

Game 5
100-26 against Ryad-Quickdraw-Zeta Leader.

I went for the head-on on Ryad, destroying her after two turns. Both Quickdraw and Zeta Leader were quite a pain with their shots, but I managed to strip all Quickdraw shields in one turn so it became more manegeable. Once Biggs died, it was just a matter of time until Norra and her Tail Gunner would destroy Quickdraw, while Thane smashed Zeta Leader after surprising him with an unexpected turn.

Game 6
100-26 against Fat Rey-Miranda

The game was decided in a round where Rey could have either go with a 3-sloop to the right or a 1-2 left turn, while I *had* to choose to go for one or the other as there was no way I could cover both options. I chose to go against the left turn... and bingo. All the ships at range 1-2 outside Rey arc, dealing *a lot* of damage. She ran for her life for a bit, but next time I had her on arc she died. Miranda followed her a bit later.

If everything goes as it should, next stop is Madrid in two weeks with my Emon-Boba list. There will be over 200 players (!!!).

EDIT: The rebel lists in the top 16:
-4 X-wings (3 t65 + Jess)
-Han + Miranda, Miranda + Y TLT + Jess + Z
-Corran + Lothal + A-wing
-Miranda + Poe
-VCX + Y TLT + some Zs
-Roark + Jess + Biggs + Zeb

Nicely done. Really good write up, too.

I had a tourney the other weekend, only a small store kit with 18 people. I placed 6th with my ARC list:

Biggs Walks The Mums (100/100)
=============================
ARC-170: Norra Wexley (29 + 9)
+ Push the Limit (3)
+ R5-P9 (3)
+ Recon Specialist (3)
+ Alliance Overhaul (0)
ARC-170: Shara Bey (28 + 5)
+ Adaptability (0)
+ R5-K6 (2)
+ C-3PO (3)
+ Alliance Overhaul (0)
X-wing: Biggs Darklighter (25 + 4)
+ R2-D2 (4)
+ Integrated Astromech (0)

I had so much fun with it. Shara pulls some dirty tricks at PS7 with the droid/crew combo. She fires first, spends target lock, uses the druid to roll an evade to get it back, uses 3PO to guess 0, guaranteed TL regeneration. Norra then fires, uses Sharas TL to modify blanks, uses hers to add another focus, spends focus to fire 4 hits a round at range 2-3, 5 at range 1 and all kinds of pain out of the rear arc.

It was a great day, my dad came with us and was on a losing streak, coming last in the last 4 tournaments. He hates the idea of net decking and enjoys coming up with his own stuff. Hes gotten much better with it and came up with a Kath Scarlet list with expertise and tail gunner with Asajj and beat his losing streak by coming 11th.

My friend finished 1st in Swiss, the best he's ever done using a Dash Miranda list that hes dedicated himself to. Was really impressive. He lost out in the finals, but he got store credit. His 3rd game was against our stores equivalent of 'that guy' who is a bit of a dick. He's known for taking the game way more seriously than he should. He once motioned that my dad be disqualified for bringing the wrong pilot card for a generic Z95 at a casual tourney last Christmas (no one listened to him, obviously). He went up against my friend in the 3rd round. He punched the table when my friend beat him. Which made it even better when I got him the round after that, at the start of the game, he told me exactly how he was going to beat me. Telling me that he was going to kill Biggs first, then the ARCs would go down easily. After I won, he told me he 'would've won in 2 more rounds' and left the store in a bad mood. I'm going to endeavour to do that more often, because it felt great.

My new cards arrived and I love the system open style ones, they turned out great. But this is the 2nd time I've ordered from makeplayingcards and the order has had print errors. Some of the cards are so off centre that you can see white space from waaaay into the bleed area that I've not seen before. Others look like the ink is running out and are blurry. Really disappointed.

Can't you reclaim those? I mean, yeah, they add those red lines in the preview to cover their backs, but white space doesn't sounds good even with the red line margin. And the blurry ink sounds even worse.

I'm still waiting the Asajj deck, we'll see how it comes out.

They were super cool with the first issue I found. I had an alt art Rey card that had scratches down it. I emailed them and they sent me 2 replacement decks! I was extremely happy (and my dad basically took an entire deck for himself, because why not).

I emailed them the other night, but it was late on Thursday so I'm guessing they'll get back to me early next week.

EDIT: Here's proof of what I mean

Tx3rlNS.jpg

Left is a card from my first run, right is a card from this run. Both using the same template. Both the same image size when submitted. Both the same card type and print quality. Both scanned on the same scanner 5 minutes apart. As you can see, the quality on the right is just poor compared to the left. It's like an ink cartridge is misaligned.

Finally got ready the new Target Lock tokens for the Emon-Boba list :D

I've needed months to get enough Armada Firesprays at a decent price. I also have a couple Lancers to do the same with the Banshee, but I want to paint the big one first.

Been a week, haven't heard from MPC yet. I've resorted to contacting their social media team, normally works as a last resort.

Last night, I got beat by my dad 2-0. He's not beat me in over 2 years and I wasn't going easy on him. I played to win and he just schooled me. Was amazing to see a list finally click with him. I love the fact that my dad and I have a hobby to share like this.

So, anyone tried any decent wave 10 builds? I tried a jakku gunrunner and it got tore to shreds in 1 turn. There's something there with them, I just cant quite figure it out, yet.

Sure thing, he was flying:

100 points

Pilots
------

Asajj Ventress (45)
Lancer-class Pursuit Craft (37), Adaptability (0), K4 Security Droid (3), Shadow Caster (3), Gyroscopic Targeting (2)

Kath Scarlet (55)
Firespray-31 (38), Expertise (4), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Tail Gunner (2), Engine Upgrade (4)

Asajj comes in, stresses and fires first with hopefully a target lock focus. This then hits to give a tractor token for a TL'ed up Kath to 4 dice blast you. He flew it really well against my 2 arcs with Biggs.

Biggs Walks The Mums (100/100)
=============================
ARC-170: Norra Wexley (29 + 9)
+ Push the Limit (3)
+ R5-P9 (3)
+ Recon Specialist (3)

+ Alliance Overhaul (0)
X-wing: Biggs Darklighter (25 + 4)
+ R2-D2 (4)
+ Integrated Astromech (0)

Tore them apart. At one point, he intentionally bumped his Kath into Asajj so he would get me in his rear arc for a 4 dice shot with no evades from me. Utterly destroyed me.

I flew a list I was feeling pretty confident about and got tabled quick. I faced something very similar to it a few months ago at an OP when I flew TLT Miranda, Stress-Stramm, and M9-G8 Tarn. It was a pretty standard Rey (sloop title, Kanan, Finn, VI) and Poe (PS9 ver, Pattern Analyzer, R2-D2, Black One, Vectored Thrusters instead of typical Autothrusters). I got tabled pretty quickly by a Countess Ryad w/ Juke, PtL Inquisitor, and Backdraft. I should have split both of them up at set-up but I just threw them in a corner with Poe on the inside. Poe wound up being killed in the first volley with all three ships getting him in arc, and then Rey died after a few more turns. She took the crit that makes my PS 0 for the rest of the game, something I suffered from last week on my Miranda in a match where it got dealt to me by an IWSYTDS condition. That crit is the death of me every time I happen to get it because it always winds up being on a ship that can't work with it. And I always get that crit when I face this guy. I'm tempted to begin flying Determination on all my ships when I fly against him.

MPC replied to me. Told me that printing the cards on plastic will cause the quality issues? Then why are they considered the highest quality cards? I'm a little confused and I'm going to press them on it.

Tensketch

Member
Their exact words:

Thank for your inquiry and sorry for our belated reply. First of all, I appreciate to bring your concern. I must let you know that there is certain limitation on production of plastic cards, it will be unavoidably to have certain deviation about 1-1.5mm. If you want to keep the deviation in minimum, I will recommend you to use paper cards instead of plastic cards.

Although I think this is from my concern with the image being misaligned with the card. I don't think they've even looked at my other image showing the bad quality of the print itself.

Double post madness!

I pushed them for another reply (pro tip, contact them on facebook and they'll contact you the next day guaranteed). They've agreed to reprint my order in the hopes that it comes back at better quality. He also confirmed that the drop in quality is also a limitation of the plastic card stock, and recommended that all future orders be on the 330gsm card as the quality will be better.

Fingers crossed this one comes back better, I like their service and I don't really want to stop using them because of this.

So the Yavin open (UK) is this weekend. The UK meta tends to have a problem in that it just copies whatever is hot in the US meta so I'm expecting the results to come in with A LOT of Parattani lists.

I'm not going this year, but I may make the journey next year instead.

I had a go of Kylo crew on RAC and I gotta say, he's really good. He's not meta smashing and he's definitely beatable, but I really liked the use of giving your opponent blinded pilot to stop them from shooting and I also busted someone down to PS0 and that pretty much won me the game. May stick with it for a bit. Few things I noted:

- You need to be high PS. Shooting first to deny your opponent the opportunity to shoot that turn is devastating
- You need to actually achieve crits. You need dice mods in order to score that 1/8 chance. RAC is great for this. However...
- Optimal builds are expensive! RAC is pricy as is, but the optimal build is with Ren, HotCop, Gunner and Predator and that does not give you much space to play with.
- The Ren mobile's weakness is quantity. 2 ship lists get hammered by this. If you have more ships throwing dice, however, his ability weakens significantly.

The new shuttle is great, not the swiftest of ships, but a 4 dice primary coupled with its upgrade bar and the coordinate action, I really like that ship.

I'm really excited right now. In the summer I came up with a dual Phantom list that I was really pumped about. A guy was selling some stuff locally and I was going through the list of what he offered trying to see what I needed. I bought my sixth Interceptor (because I needed more of the PS1 and PS3 pilots) and a second Lambda. He had a Phantom on the list and I kept telling myself that I didn't need a second Phantom. Finally I got deep into list-building one night and decided to see if I could come up with something good using two Phantoms (that wasn't ONLY 2 Phantoms). I made a list I liked using Whisper, Echo, and an OGP Lambda and then the Phantom the guy was selling sold. I figured "Okay, next time I'm at a store I'll pick up another one then." Me being the dummy I am though, I didn't save that list anywhere. When it came time to buy a new Phantom, I wound up passing because I couldn't remember the list at all (I couldn't even remember that the Lambda was the third ship in the list). Fast forward to a couple hours ago when I was reading about some cool tricks with Echo and thought about how badly I wished I could remember that list. I started toying around in a squad builder for a while and after a ton of checking out of different things, I finally built either the list I came up with last year or something really close to it. I'm kind of pumped to try it one of these days too, but I'll need to still buy another Phantom.
I came up with a 4 ship list back then that used two Lambdas also, but I don't think I'll ever remember what I had on them and which aces were flying with them.

Tonight my goal is to out together an Asajj + Dengar list to fly at the local group's open play tomorrow. I've flown against a ton of Dengars (and hate flying against him, whatever I am flying can never escape his arc and sees me get whittled down to 0 hull as I forgo shots to avoid the double tap in favor of trying to get better position), but I know people have wildly different preferences for what to use on him. I've never flown him or Asajj, so it'll be interesting. I've never flown any Scum in fact, so my experience with the salvaged astromechs, crew, and illicits is very limited. I can read what they do, of course, but I don't know what works best and looking up Dengar or Dengar + Asajj lists turns up quite a few different builds. Asajj is tricky too, because the gyro mod seems like a good one to use but I know I've read people who prefer EU in favor of it, because they want to skirt the outside of the map with the turret pointing inward as much as possible. I'll figure something out though.

Recent waves have seen some really good cards coming out for Phantoms and I'm genuinely surprised that I've not seen more of them. Twin phantom list sounds fantastic, especially when flown right.

I look forward to the inevitable "we cannot play test our game thoroughly, so here's a nerf that impacts unrelated ships" overreaction from FFG.

Back from Madrid Regional, my last for this season. I played with the same list I used in Valencia (Emon-Boba, where I finished 2-4 with two terrible games by my part) with a much better performance in my opinion, although the final result could not seem that great.

Round 1
PS9 Poe Dameron (PTL, R2D2, Patron, Autothrusters, title)
Red Squadron Veteran (R2, Integrated)
Jess Pava (M9-G8, Integrated)

Won 100-25. I deployed for a head-on on his two "small" ships while Poe tried to flank. Jess got obliterated after a round of fire from both Firesprays plus a couple hits from a Cluster Mine, while Poe had a similar fate after moving over the three Cluster mine templates and eating a missle. Red Veteran couldn't do much after that.

Round 2
Manaroo (Attanni)
3x Tansarii M3A (Attanni, title, Mangler)

Lost 24-100. I fucked up big time here in two occasions. The first, not using Glitterstim when Boba was going to be attacked by *everything* (although I was expecting to kill one of the M3A first with a missile and Emon shots, but he survived with at 1 hull) in the first pass, surviving with 2 or 3 hull left after rolling a gazillion eyes in defense. The other, doing a 1-bank with Emon instead a 3 or 4 straight to minimize the risk of being block and, at the same time, bomb Manaroo. Alas, I was blocked and shredded by the Manglers, dying not much later.

Round 3
Backdraft (Adaptability, FCS, Lightweight Frame, title)
Vessery (Veteran Instincts, TIE/D, Tractor)
Inquisitor (PTL, Autothrusters, title)

Won 100-25. Similary to the first game, I deployed Emon in Vessery front with the hope Backdraft (my #1 target) would be there too... and yup. Placed Boba a bit to the side to give Emon some space for his wizardy, while the Inquisitor went for the usual flanking. Emon received some love from Back & Vess, but just as with Jess, a Missile, a couple Emon shots and a perfect cluster mine for triple token overlap got rid of him in one and a half turn. Vessery followed him quickly due no evades, while the Inquisitor danced quite a bit around the map until Boba shoot him down with the last missile.

Round 4
Corran (Veteran Instincts, FCS, R2D2)
Dash (PTL, Kyle KAtarn, Engine, title, Heavy Laser Cannon)

Won 100-51. Amazing game that was decided by very tiny details and a couple dice. I decided to focus on Dash, as without Engine Corran wouldn't be *that* hard to catch, and although I smashed him in the first couple rounds of shooting, he managed to survive long enough to bring Emon down to a couple hulls with Corran's help. Knowing my best chance was to try to get a *good* shooting turn with both ships on Corran I forced the close combat, but I only managed to took down a couple shields while Emon died. From there, my only chance was to kill Corran with Boba alone with no Missiles left before he dropped me to half hull and ran away to win the game. And somehow I managed to do it, thanks to catching him to where he would turn after a head-on pass (that left Boba at 1 hit over 50% and Corran at 1 hull left) of the three choices he had.

3-1 and I started to dream.

Round 5
Dengar (Zuckuss, Overclocked droid, Countermeasures and all those things)
Manaroo (Gonk, PTL and the usual)

Lost 29-100, and with it those newborn dreams of making a Regional top with fucking Emon. It was a much closer game that the results would say, with Dengar surviving at 1 or 2 hull and Manaroo not counting the 50% due the gazillion shields Gonk gave to her. He played better, had some better luck (the few crits he inflicted me were always the perfect ones for that moment, some rolls) and deserved to win.

Round 6
Omega Leader (Juke, Comm Relay)
Countdown (Adaptive Ailerons)
Pure Sabbac (PTL, Lightweight Frame, Adaptive Ailerons)
Captain Yorr (Darth VadeR)

Lost 53-100. A really trickery list to play against, especially in the way he used it, with some fortressing at the start and keeping the ships near Yorr all the time in combat, so the non-stressing Segnors and PTL gave him an amazing movility. I missjudged when he would break his fortress and he caught me for good. Still, I gave him some good fight and I wasn't that far of winning, with both Sabbac and Countdown surived with 1 and 2 hulls.

At the end, 96th of 200 players (there were around a dozen last-minute drops due Real Life Issues®) but with the feeling that with a bit of luck I could have been in the top (which was a top32 due the tournament size), so really happy. At the next day (that is, today) I played the Hangar Bay (Ketsu kit) using both, my Emon-Asajj (2 games) and Norra-Thane-Biggs (1 game) lists, and won the whole thing (100-0, 100-26, 100-25). And between both, the Regional with its gifts and the Hangar I got a nice loot (including a Rebel Ace pack) so yeah, it has been a good weekend.

I'm really looking forward for Tatooine Open the next month with the Asajj-Emon list (aka the Greek King), I think a have a decent chance of putting the crazy Azzameen guy in a good place.

I was rooting for you to place a bit higher with that list after the last time you flew it but it seems like you had a better time and felt better about this event, so that's great. Great pics too. Do you have any more of that table from what I assume was your third match, with the Defender and TAP in it? I love love LOVE it.

I had two good matches yesterday at the X-Wing game day at the local store. My first list was a very slight modification of the Miranda, Tarn w/ M9-G8, and Stress-Stramm list that I flew back in November. I dropped Luke down to Gunner on Stramm and gave him Flechette Torps. Against him was 4-LOM, Talonbane Conra, and Fenn Rau. The move to the torps for Stramm was great; I was able to triple stress 4-LOM and kept him too stressed to be able to get rid of it for most of the match, even with him passing a stress off to R1 ships at the end of a turn. I took some damage on Stramm (I think he got taken down to one hull) but Miranda didn't even get shot at more than once. She deployed far away from Stramm and Tarn who were grouped together, charged forward at the enemy, and then SLAMmed away. My opponent then took his ships all towards Stramm and Tarn and I used Miranda to feint in from different angles to throw him off. It was a great match.

Match two was against the same guy. He flew a named Punisher (can't remember which one at the moment), Backdraft, and Omega Leader. I flew my first ever Scum list, my YYYZ list. It's three Y-Wings (Kavil and two Thugs, Kavil with Trick Shot and then TLT and Unhinged Astro on all three) and N'Dru in the Z-95 with Lone Wolf. Backdraft had Sensor Jammer which made it EXTREMELY tough to get damage through with my TLTs. I had to focus with each Y each turn and then use the focus on the first shot when he turned a hit into a focus. It was super tough getting damage through, but I finally did. It came down to Kavil and Backdraft as the only people left, Backdraft with one hull and Kavil with max hull. I finally got one TLT shot through and won that one too.

Tomorrow we're getting together at someone's house to play. I think I might try Dengaroo if I can pin down what a good loadout for each ship is, since there are a few slight variations.

I think we can officially call the Punishing One expansion the most broken release in the history of X-wing. I can't think of a single other expansion that introduced so many meta dominating pilots and upgrades.

Hell, many expansions struggle to have one good pilot.

96th out of 200 players isn't bad at all, Nete, nice job! You won a Hangar Bay tournament, too, which is cool.

Batteries the CRISIS!
Double post because FFG put up a new article this morning previewing the huge ship upgrades in the C-ROC Cruiser: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2017/2/20/merchant-one/

swx58-heavy-laser-turret.png
swx58-cikatro-vizago.png

Perhaps the greatest thing about the C-ROC's tremendous cargo capacity is that you don't even have to limit yourself to only the cargo with which you start your game. If you allow crime lord Cikatro Vizago to ply his trade for a time aboard your C-ROC, you can then discard him to swap one of your cargo upgrades for another of equal or lesser cost.

For example, you might start with a Frequency Jammer in order to boost the efficiency of the C-ROC's jam action, thereby allowing your other ships—perhaps some Binayre Pirates —to target the enemies you stress with their Black Market Slicer Tools . But once those Binayre Pirates have been destroyed, or after they've been lured out of position, you might discard Cikatro Vizago to swap your Frequency Jammer for Supercharged Power Cells to finish off an opponent's fighter. Or you might swap in Tibanna Gas Supplies for an emergency energy boost.
swx58_diagram_cikatro_upgrade.png

swx58-merchant-one.png
swx58-azmorigan.png

Best of all, you can amplify all these tactics by flying Azmorigan on your ship. If you have even a single point of energy at the start of the End phase, Azmorigan allows you to swap an existing crew or team ugprade for another of the same type of equal or lesser value. This means you shouldn't ever need to start with a crew member that provides only a situational benefit—such as BoShek—but if the situation arises, Azmorigan lets bring him into play for full effect.
swx58_diagram_azmorigan_upgrade.png

Maybe you'll start your game with "Gonk" and bank a bunch of shield tokens for later use, but once those shield tokens have been invested back into your cruiser, you're unlikely to come across the available actions to load back up. With Azmorigan, you can spend an energy and swap out "Gonk" for a WED-15 Repair Droid . Or you can even swap out Azmorigan, himself, for a crew like Ketsu Onyo should the moment arise. All you need is the idea. With Azmorigan, your whole collection of Scum and neutral X-Wing crew upgrades is suddenly fair game.

Well, I was *really* close to end at or near the top (i.e. Dengar could have easily died when I still had both Firesprays), so I definitely did it much better than in the other regional even if I only had 1 extra victory. Quite happy. In my vision of these tournaments, a 3-3 is a great result. To go beyond that you need a nice combination of a really good list, really good playing, good pairings and good luck. And that's not an easy thing to get at all. My best chance to do some noise in a regional was actually Barcelona earlier this month, but my mind (first game) and the dice (second game) killed my options.

The table looks amazing and it actually was one of the prizes that were raffled at the end of the regional (a waste in my and many others opinions, as its value of 600€ could have been used to raffle a gazillion extra things). But I didn't like at all to play on it. The glass surface was like an icerink, and the LEDs around the borders were terribly distracting especially each time they switched colours. But yeah, is really pretty.

I have to laugh, because the general sentiment when AM came out was "this card is terrible, you will always be stressed". Now everyone bitches about Mindlink like it's a pre-nerf Whisper.

Agree with you there. It's a great card, but just a little bit overpowered.

A lot of the issues people have with Palp and Roo is the lack of range restriction. Perhaps Attanni would benefit from a range 1-3 limit?

I would love to have won something like that no matter how slippery it might be to play on. I'll have to copy that design in the future and try to make something similar.

I got in two games today. I played a game against a Punisher and two Bombers loaded up with a ton of Proximity Mines using RAC + Whisper. We restarted after a couple turns because the other player set his dials wrong and was going to fly everything off the board. It went really well for me though. RAC died of course, I was Attack->Vader>Gunner>Vader-ing quite a bit, so his Chirpy's health didn't last long. The second match was a poor man's Dengaroo versus two Scum Firesprays: Emon and the mid-PS generic, both with a ton of bombs. I took that one as well.
So that's four for four over the last two gamedays. I'm pretty happy with it though.

See I disagree. I think Attanni is just fine. It only passes focus and stress; what we're seeing is Attanni + Manaroo being the issue*.

When Attanni came out, Stress-bots and other stress giving mechanics were all the rage. This is the main reason Attanni was so considered DoA when it came out. But, those sorts of mechanics fell out favor, mostly because U-Boats trashed Y-Wings which were the main stress giving mechanic. Well, U-Boats are no longer really a thing beyond the usually torpedo-less Dengaroo.

Attanni itself is more useful the more ships that have it, which brings a cost in itself: you need pilots with EPTs. It also means that as your ships get destroyed, it becomes less and less useful (a single ship with Attanni might as well not have an EPT at all). In the end, it's a superior PTL IFF you were planning on Focusing as your second action every turn anyway. Yes, there's the lack of stress, but that also impacts your ability to perform maneuvers, is a risk with debris (which I think has fallen out of favor again?).

While it is true that only one ship needs to pull a green maneuver to Focus the whole lot, it still means that the other ships are either limiting their movement options to shed stress (which is a great way to separate Fenn Rau from Assaj Ventress), or are giving up their own innate action. Assaj is a lot less trouble when she can't move her mobile arc, for instance. Fenn that can't boost/barrel roll to reposition is less likely to be in R1, etc. etc.

I also disagree with the general sentiment of dealing with the list being "kill Fenn first". Fenn has 4 hull and is easier to shut down with stray shots and lucky crits. Assajj OTOH, will handle almost any ship 1v1 and can deal with many ships in a 1v2 situation thanks to Latts. She is, imo, better dealt with FIRST when your ships are at full strength IF you can keep Fenn from R1. Yes, that's a pretty big if, I realize that.

Assaj -> Fenn -> Manaroo, which is like the exact opposite stance of "kill Manaroo first in Dangaroo".

As for range restriction, I suspect that might be a FFG's response, but I'm not sure how much it will actually solve. I will also be annoyed if Attanni and Manraoo get the 1-3 restriction, but Palp comes away unscathed. Palp aces defined the meta for what, at least two entire Regionals/Championships cycles? Palp aces loses top dog and everyone loses their minds that anything can oust it. It's like Stockholm Syndrome or something.

* Much like pre-nerf U-Boats didn't have a single issue, Manaroo isn't "the" issue. Being able to get 16 hull / 7 shields in with 2+ AGI on each ship is pretty tough. Assaj + Latts is an obvious combo people are already sick of, etc. etc.

Mindlink is perfectly fine, manaroo is the issue. Everything should always be ranged restricted, everything, including Palp. Giant oversight by ffg, but the cats out of the bag and I don't think that's going away.

There is a lot of things ffg fucked up on and I don't see most of them being FAQ away.

See, I can't confirm this, but I've heard from 2 different people that say there's a range nerf coming to palp and roo in the next FAQ. Only reason I'm inclined to believe them is because their level of play is high enough that the guys they hang with at tourneys are playtesters and one of them also seemed to know about the small ship only change for deadeye before it happened.

I'll eat the crow if that happens. Lol. I don't see them FAQing a lot of the insanity they've introduced into the game.

I would hate to see them start banning cards but tie/x7 needs to go. -2pts for a free evade? Absolute insanity.

It's a difficult card to fix, really. I'd say maybe if they added the stipulation that the ship must complete the maneuver in order to get the evade? It would give low PS ships a chance against them as it would promote blocking as a tactic. I honestly don't know with that one. The title is good, but the defender was a poor ship before it existed.

Yeah... I'd much rather the 600 be spent on more prizes for more people than a fancy lightbox no one would have the space to use. Mats roll up, are lightweight and can fit in the boot of a car. That is just a nightmare. Imagine if while moving it one of the pieces becomes loose on the inside? Nah. Even if they took a ship, sprayed it gold and stuck it on a podium I'd prefer it.

Finally received the Asajj cards, and I'm really happy with them. Perfect cut and great definition (the pic is terrible, I really need to get a good app to take them). Although I fucked it up with the few extra Emon cards I included in the deck, uploading the wrong image XD

They look great. Glad you didn't get the dodgy quality print that I did. I'm sticking to their cardstock cards from here on after the last order. The fact that it took me 3 weeks just to get them to agree to reprint the order was bad enough.

I had two fun games over the weekend. The first was against 2x Punishers loaded with Cluster Mines and a Bomber. I flew three x7 Defenders in a tight grouping, to see what all the rage was about. I had Ryad w/ PtL and Twin Ion MkII, and two Deltas with Stealth Devices. The list did really well and only one Delta was probably in any damage of dying, and that was only because I started blowing through Cluster Mines with it since it had already taken damage and I wanted to clear some of the tokens off the board to make better channels to fly through.
The other game was a TIE Shuttle with Kylo and Vader flanked by Backdraft and a generic SF. I flew Dengaroo but made some adjustments from last Monday. Last Monday I won with Dengaroo but I built a really dumb list. I found one of the Dengaroo variants, copied it to Aurora, and then chopped it up and made a lot of changes. Most of the changes I made were terrible though and I didn't give much thought to them since I needed to out a list together that day, but I found out why they were bad as soon as I started playing. Like Engine Upgrade on Dengar when I'm also running Zuckuss crew and Overclocked R4. I boosted on the first round of the game to get in attacking range right off the bat, and then never boosted again due to stress. Little things like that which became really apparent why they were bad ideas. So I looked at some and found what is probably one of the more 'standard' Dengaroos. He didn't know whether to go after Dengar or Manaroo, and I didn't particularly feel like telling him to target Manaroo, but he eventually disengaged from Dengar to chase Manaroo. It didn't matter though, I beat him and didn't even take one shield damage in the match (I had banked four shields on Gonk though, just in case).
