Starting today, more games benefit from new PSSR upscaling on PS5 Pro

You know that you can turn off updates and play the original disc version, right?
Wasn't the Pro support implemented after launch?

Also, in what way would that justify what has happened, if it has indeed happened? We just got Requiem downgraded after launch by Capcom, if they really did the same to Dead Rising, that has no PC version that could save it, it would truly be one royal fuckup. Especially for all the people who only own the digital version.

Reposting for the new page, as I'd really love to know:

Guys, if anyone has Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, could you please check if the incredible Ray Tracing implementation is still there, just as it was at Pro launch?

For some reason, in the demo RT is now completely broken. Gone completely are the RT reflections on transparencies, and the incomplete ones that are there on opaque surfaces are a noisy mess (this with or without PSSR toggle). In short, it looks absolutely nothing like it did when I originally downloaded the demo, which looked like this:

And Dead Rising is surprising because ray tracing reflections are everywhere! It's not just few mirrors.
It's on most doors, vending machines, walls, even coarse surfaces but then it just looks like grain. I got some examples. Lowest fps I've noticed so far was 53 in paradise plaza with certain camera angle.
I've not played it on pc, so someone gotta confirm if these reflections are there. Even in glasses and camera lens.

Strongly hope this weird ass bug is only affecting the Demo and not the actual game, because I've got a physical copy on the way and, if for some retarded reason Capcom really broke the game, when it previously was the best version by far on any platform (and their best RT reflections so far in any RE Engine game), I'm going to return it without even opening it.

Edit: Disc version contains 1.000, so no Pro support (1.030). If RT happens to be gone, the best version of this game is now lost media.

Well, that sucks.

And I'm not justifying any royal fuck ups. I was just suggesting a fix. By the way:

Well deserved in any case. Physical yihad!!

Demo never had RT.

There should be a fucking option to roll back patches...

I'll give a try but capcom update the Pro enhancement after the releases so very likely the demo hadn't the pro support.

It actually did, which is why I'm so worried:

Found a good vid of RT in dead rising and I confirm - it's everywhere. Very good use.

Yes. The demo is enhanced. It looks great.
The free demo on PSN has RT
I didn't buy the game but I tried the dead rising demo. Some spots look insane, especially for a remaster.

The fact is, the Ray Tracing toggle works in the menu, like you can see the difference right away on the mall entrance in the menu, but nothing once you start the game.

There should be a fucking option to roll back patches...

When I have the time I'll check but I highly doubt PSSR2 broke the raytracing outside they still have to update it and it wasn't part of the list of the early games supported.

Toggle still in the Menu (and works too):

But no reflections on transparent surfaces anymore:

Weird but I guess they haven't tested it yet. It's the demo or the full game? Maybe it's just a demo thing. In Hell on Us PSSR2 forced not work well in different details.

This is the Demo. Have no idea if the main game is affected, which is why I'd love a confirmation.

Just got a Pro yesterday and did the PSSR2 update.

WOW.

What a world of difference coming from a base ps5 all gen. Pristine IQ.

Crimson Desert, Space Marine 2, look fucking phenomenal!

I think they removed it a long time ago from the demo. When I got PS5 Pro I tested it and didn't saw any RT.

So I tried the game and raytracing reflections are still there BUT I could swear in some selective spot doesn't work. I have to try with PSSR2 forced off.
P.S. never mind, wrong impression cancelled.

Thank you brother. Just to be 100% certain, because even in the demo RT reflections, although broken, shimmery mess, do work on opaque surfaces, RT appear on glass?
So that spot with the stairs for instance (opening area), the stairs are reflected on the the glass windows? 🙏

PSSR 2.0 should have been the default option on day 1. 1.0 felt like a beta; the PS5 PRO was rushed.

This shit again? Ask AMD why they waited 6 year to implement machine learning learning

Be happy you are not left in the dust like RDNA 3 users

You can't get this results without big time training

Reflections seems better to me I haven't noticed shimmering at all. The only thing it's about the opacity, reflections seems darker and you have to stay very close to the glass surface to spot the reflections but definitely they are still there. Also at some distance and some different perspective seems raytracing reflections disappear but again could be something it was alwayslike this, I don't remember exactly how worked previously

But it's worse than that.
In 2020 AMD released CDNA1, which was basically a later GCN GPU with 4 matrix cores. It had no support for FP8. But it had support for Int8, just like the Pro and nVidia GPUs of the time.
And it could do 184 TOPs in Int8. But AMD decided to miss another opportunity and never brought those Matric cores to their consumer GPU.
RDNA2 could have had Matrix cores, capable of running an ML upscaler since 2020, if AMD had decided to do so.
Of course it's not as simple as copy paste, but AMD had the tech, and choose not to use it on the consumer GPUs.

Not everything has RT though.

RE9 as soon as it gets the photo mode update for sure

Tried out Black Myth Wukong and fucking hell it's gorgeous after the update

Feels like a brand new game

BMW ? which mode ?
I can only play action games at 60fps so the 40fps mode they added after a few months in was a no-go for me.

Does performance mode use PSSR ?

So there's a AC Shadows native patch coming for PSSR 2 or is it already out? I'm curious to know what the toggle is doing for it now.

I only play quality modes

But I did switch to Performance mode for a few mins and it is much much better than it was on the base PS5

Can't see shit on my phone. How far behind is pssr 2 in comparison in this vid

Upscalers are in the same ballpark right now, there is not that much difference between DLSS4, FSR4 and DLSS4.5 (outside of foliage that is much better vs. more noise with RT compared to 4.0).

J Required J Required is right, source is doing some weird comparions (like using model M for ultra performance instead of model L) so I woudn't pay much attention to it.

Out of curiosity i tried Hunt Showdown today with pssr2...holy shit it looks fucking amazing and im playing on PC nowadays with DLSS4. It basically looks like a native 4k image to me, everything is super sharp and detailed upclose and in the distance aswell, vegetation looks amazing too. I was really surprised how sick the game looks now on Pro

I have the ps5 pro I own a huge tv worth 5k .Pssr 2 stil has smearing issues my tv is not the issue at all but pssr2 does have smearing problems tht playstation mods refuse to talk about and simply block you if you make criticism of it. On a huge tv playing avatar frontiers of pandora pssr2 looks worse in motion then the FSR option. Im hoping Playstation keeps updating it because while not in motion it looks incredible and detailed but motion has ben subpar stil on large tvs

The motion smearing has significantly improved, but it's not perfect and it will never be, at least on PS5 PRO.

FSR pixelates things instead of blur, and if you think that looks better, just play with FSR enabled.

If you want the best of both worlds, go buy some high end PC and play the game in native 4K.
