Steam Star Wars Sale - Includes Lego Star Wars!

Just noticed that Steam are having a sale for May the 4th. Finally includes Lego Star Wars at 70% off. All that waiting has paid off!

Also worth noting they have added the X-Wing and Tie Fighter games but I'd actually recommend you buy the GoG versions as they are more complete and in general GoG versions of old games are made with love.

Also worth noting that GoG have two sales on at the moment for Star Wars games.

Star Wars Blaster Bundle

Star Wars Saber Bundle

complete saga is great, although using an older graphics engine so doesn't look as nice as their newer game.

Not a fan of clone wars with the weird RTS levels

X Wing is on Steam? Will buy.

GOG just announced an upgrade to X Wing/TIE fighter so might be worth checking that out in case it is different from the version on steam.

Looks like everyone is having a Star Wars sale this week. Xbox Live & GoG.com are having sales too.

from GOG...

http://www.gog.com/news/star_wars_day_on_gogcom

"-- Collector's CD-ROM editions of: Star Wars™ X-Wing and Star Wars™ TIE-Fighter. The space-flight simulators finally become complete exclusively on GOG.com. The Collectors Edition, often considered the absolute re-release, combines upgraded graphics with the classic MUSE sound system, and a refined flight engine. It's a free upgrade to all of you that own it, and comes with every new purchase as well."

In addition to 70% being the deepest discount the Lego Star Wars games have seen, this is the first time they've been discounted by 50% or higher in over two years.

My understanding is that the GOG release of X-Wing only included the 1993 floppy edition and the 1998 X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter-engine-based remake, omitting the 1994 Collector's Edition CD version (which contained additional sound clips and various engine improvements that'd been made since the floppy version's release with TIE Fighter). Maybe GOG amended that oversight?

EDIT: Okay they definitely amended that oversight, then

They released the Collector's Editions today as free upgrades.

How is that Clone Wars Lego game?

Lego Star Wars 3? Just alright. The RTS stuff is more tedious than fun, and it forces you to do a LOT of it. The core 'traditional' Lego experience otherwise is fine, but the RTS stuff surrounding it is all that really sticks out when I think back on it.

It's good to see Disney starting to embrace digital sales. I already got a lot of these from the Humble Bundle though.

Battlefront II is $3, but it says :
"As of May 31, 2014, online functionality, including network multiplayer and wireless chat, will no longer be available for this title. We regret any disappointment as a result of the shutdown of the services supporting these online features."

So there's no way to play multiplayer? :(

Actually, you can use GameRanger. They have servers set up to play and it's real easy to use it. I played it a month back and there were still plenty of people playing.

You gotta use Gameranger or hamachi or some other virtual LAN service I believe.

So like are those lego games any good?

they are fun and cute, but its the part where they never see any discounts over 50% that matters. well matters for collectors mostly

About time, I've been waiting for that Lego Star Wars game to go on sale since 2010. Also I pretty much got all the Star Wars games thanks to Humble Bundle :P

Heads up on buying old games on Steam- don't, they don't know what they're doing. Get those games on GOG.

Freespace 2 was released on Steam last year and doesn't even work. I had to go to the forums to figure out how to get it to launch, and even then, the process was not simple. Steam doesn't even check that shit. GOG makes sure the game will run properly.

Eying with the Sabre bundle on GoG. Have never played any of the Jedy Knight games and am also still missing KotOR2 in my collection.

But the full discount only applies if I include Empire at War, Battlefront 2, Republic Commando and Starfighter, neither of which I really want. How are those?

Empire at War is neat. It's an RTS that mixes turn-based space conquest with ground battles. You could build a Death Star and blow your opponent away.

Battlefront 2 is great, online does still work but you have to use GameRanger or Hamachi and the single-player is fine but not what you get the game for.

Republic Commando is fantastic, I haven't played the PC version but the Xbox game was great. Although I don't think it has controller support if that's your thing but I'm sure there's a way to fix that.

Starfighter is fine. It's an arcadey space game where you shoot at dudes. Nothing special.

How is that Clone Wars Lego game?

I thought it was great.

It was the first fully 360-PS3 generation LEGO game I played and it really showed in the graphics and the set pieces. There are hundred of guys on screen in places and some cool action moments like fighting on the back of a giant falling robot. Like the rest of the LEGO games it's full of content, focuses on replayability, and

There's an RTS-lite mode that focuses on grabbing control points. It's a cool addition and varies up the gameplay, but it's so easy to the point where it's basically impossible to fail, so it's not nearly as good as it could have been.

I never watched the Clone Wars show or movie, so all the characters and stories were new to me. Kinda refreshing since most of the other LEGO games are based on stuff I've already seen, but I don't play the LEGO games for the stories.

Probably going to get the Star Wars Collection and Lego Star Wars Complete Saga. Might get Lego Star Wars III too. Was going to just buy FU, RC, KotOR, KotOR II, BF II, and EaW individually, but it costs the same amount as the Star Wars Collection. I own 5 of those 6 games on disc, but I want them digitally (and ripping the discs to my computer and doing it that way is annoying).

I bought SW Battlefront II a while ago. I had to stick something in my microphone port on my PC to get it to work. Strange I know.

Not always the case from my experience.

While it is true that GOG goes further than Steam in that regard, it's still dependent on your PC's hardware. Even with GOG trying to get it to work I've had issues with some older games like Populous: The Beginning.

After I got rid of my AMD CPU and ATI graphics card for Intel and Nvidia I've had less issues though, so just check before you buy on either store.

QFFT

Picked up that Lego complete saga, easily in my budget with that 10 hours of call pay from Saturday

If I get Parallels or whatever it's called to get Windows on my Macbook Air, can I plug in a PS3 controller to use with these?

I can't for the life of me find a clear answer on Google, don't want to buy these sets unless I know that would work.

Finally! Been waiting for lego star wars to go on sale for a long time...
I've even seen the lego harry potter and LOTR games selling for like less than £4 each on ebay, so awesome!
