Steven Universe keeps popping out in threads so decided to come by and ask is it worth watching? Love, Adventure,Over The Garden, Regular Show, ect. Watched two episodes a lone time ago when they first came out and didn't really like it. But seems like the popularity for the show has exploded.

The first few episodes weren't anything spectacular, if those are what you saw. But if you like those shows, this should be right up your alley. Keep watching and you'll probably be hooked before you know it.

Where is the best place to catch up on this show?
These places have all the episodes

Cartoon Networks website also has some of the episodes.

Yeah if you enjoy those shows you should definitely give Steven Universe another try. Just stick with it as it gets better and better as it goes along. Also the show is created by Rebecca Sugar who was behind some of the best Adventure Time episodes.

The beginning of the show is completely different than how it is now. The show matures as steven matures. Its kind of similar to the early episodes of adventure time versus ones with, say, the Lich but with way more complex character drama thrown in. Trust me, if you continue watching the whole season you'll be very satisfied by the end.

Anyone else think Rose isn't completely gone? I'm thinking she left a part of her laying dormant in either Lion or Steven. With how heavy a DBZ influence we're getting, I bet they pull a father-son Kamehameha in the season 2 finale.
It has been repeated several times that Rose only gave up her physical form, Steven's gem is LITERALLY Rose, she just [for the time being] can't manifest a body.

There is a theory going that if Rose were to manifest a physical form it would kill Steven, like how the mirror was destroyed when Lapis manifested.

So T-Pain watches Steven Universe!

Of course. Pretty much half of her created steven, so the other half has to exist in some form somewhere I guess.

Do we even really know this, or is it just an operating assumption?

Considering Pearl was reluctant about making Alexandrite (I can't remember the exact quote) I think that would've been the first time they ever fused four gems together.
judging by the eight arms and 5 gems in the correct spots, it's a mixture of garnet amethyst pearl and rose

Pearl said she didn't want to do it cause "fusions are only for emergencies", she just thought the situation wasn't fusion worthy.

Haha, that's weird I was talking to my sister today and she told me that my Mom and her got into Steven Universe. Never thought that'd be a show either of my parents would watch, but I think that's cute :p

Hmm, I wonder if the season is going to have the same format as the last season, as in 'not much lore in the first half of the season' 'lore drop in the middle of the season' 'back to not much lore for a little while' then 'shitfuckton of lore at the end'.

I was kind of hoping the show would go all dragon ball z with each episode directly tying into the next, but I guess that stuff is probably going to be reserved for the end of each season.

Well this is actually a season 1 episode that was pushed back into season 2 to make room for StevenBomb.
When the chance to strip new episodes across an entire week came up, the decision was made to shuffle three Season One episodes later in the air order, AFTER a two parter created to serve as a season finale. This was done for a very specific reason. These three Season One episodes (Open Book, Story for Steven and Shirt Club) are largely STAND ALONE EPISODES. These stories could fall almost anywhere in the series’ timeline and not feel out of order. They will air peppered through the very first few episodes of Season Two.

As the review pointed out, it is a small shame these episodes are aired out of order since the smaller character moments pay off in later episodes. In this case it would have been for Full Disclosure...which aired last week. It is nice to have the more focused slice of life episodes after the craziness of the Steven Bomb and the next few episodes are a welcome breather.

Side note:

Fandom seems to be having fun with the idea of Canadot.

Enjoyed the episode but just like expected it didn't add anything to the lore, characters or relationship advancement. Steven and Connie continue to be cute together though, this is the part I really do wish there's some age progression so they end up together like an eagle and a warrior wizard lady.

Guessed the "Connie" thing but what was revealed caught me by surprise. lol. Really thought they meant something else.

With Steven's voice dropping so quickly (seriously, go watch Gem Glow then this episode. It's staggering) I think they'll age eventually.

Just realized that Steven is voiced by a kid and not by a woman doing a kid's voice haha. So yeah these guys honestly seem brave enough to not keep the status quo of keeping characters the same age throughout and aging characters as their VAs age.

Unrelated but part of me is sad that Steven didn't turn into brooding Batman in the episode before this one. He was so close to becoming "my parents are dead" Batman

It would have been an interesting shift for season two but Steven's charm is kind of what keeps the show going. Without that, this is turns into an action show.

"Steven do you want some cookie cats?"

"Cookie Cats? Those were things old innocent Steven enjoyed. New Steven likes dark and brooding snacks. Hand me some Triscuits"
