Students in Denver left their classrooms in a massive walkout Tuesday to protest President Trumps decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program for undocumented immigrants, Fox 31 Denver reports.
The students from West High School and North High School marched to several Denver parks and a nearby college campus. Many students carried signs in support of the program.
Police also escorted some groups of students at intersections, according to Fox 31.
The protest came after Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Tuesday announced the administrations plan to over the next six months rescind the Obama-era program, which allows young people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children to remain in the country and get work permits.
Approximately 800,000 people are recipients of DACA, with an estimated 17,000 of them residing in Colorado, according to the Denver Post.
