I would LOL hard if Dungy just to spite Rexy and do an Epic Cock-Block to the JETS

Steelers chairman Dan Rooney has arrived from Ireland. Weighs in on labor. Still doesn't like 18 games. "I would rather not have the money."
See? That's what it's all about: the money. Goodell's "BETTER GAME FOR THE FANS AND THE PLAYERS" line is utter bullshit and everyone knows it. Rooney Respect +1. At least there's one owner that's not all about greed at the expense of the players and the game.chuckddd said:Anyone see what Dan Rooney had to say on 18 games? per Judy Battista's tweet

I don't want it changed, mostly because I'm a fan of "if it ain't broken, don't fix it." I haven't heard a compelling argument yet why it should be 18, but I honestly haven't looked into it much. I'm curious the reasonings. It seems an odd number, just to add 2. Would they really have an impact?squicken said:nooooo. 18 games is better than another playoff round. Football is great b/c every week matters. I don't care if they go 18 or 16, but don't add more playoff teams. People who are against 18 games, are you against it b/c quality of play or player safety?
Are you saying you are comfortable with the physical and neurological damage players suffer under a 16 games schedule, but are uncomfortable with the increase in damage a move to 18 games would cause?
Or b/c you don't want 30% of games played by backups and practice squad guys?
Mike Wallace is one of the best big WR's in the game and the steelers have defense that can score more than some teamsTalon- said:Last I checked Ben doesn't have a Michael Irvin or Emmitt Smith to take advantage of.
Much less a decent offensive line.
You're just mad that Freeballin' put up 5 TDs on the Seachickens.jakncoke said:lol, for that Freeballin going slip during his next jerry curl juice commercial shoot and tear his knee up and ruin your 2011 season

I get the 16 out of 32 teams in playoffs = stupid, but the games aren't a series, it's 1 and done

eznark said:I rewatched the Steelers game since my drunken haze on Sunday made me misremember things and let me just say....bravo Sanchez. On a day when quarterbacks truly played like ass or didn't play at all, you played a pretty surprising second half. I'm not a believer in the guy, but I do think he'll have an Eli-like career. He won't be dependably great, but the ability to show flashes of greatness will be there.
Zeke said:Mike Wallace is one of the best big WR's in the game
Wellington said:I was saying that to all my friends on Sunday. Frankly I think he'll be better than Eli down the line. I expect a big leap forward next year for him (if the Jets retain Schotty).
Wellington said:(Yes, I know my opinion on Sanchez isn't the popular one, but he definitely wasn't the reason the Jets lost Sunday.)
I really, really, really hope we don't give anyone the kind of money he wants. God that would be terrible. Thank God we have Ted Thompson, Frugal GM!Buckethead said:Look on the bright side, if we don't pick up Nmandi, we'll always have Raji.
eznark said:McNabb for Cutler straight up?
I don't see how this stuff is an issue with Cutler. I missed most of the thread from Sunday through this morning, but the poor sap has taken more sacks than anyone else in the league the two years he's been with the Bears and has missed one game because of league rules. This guy has taken absolute BEATINGS. Questioning his toughness is ridiculous.yankeehater said:Great OP. I am really excited for this SB, it is rare that the 2 best teams get in, but I definitely think that is what happened. I hadnt gotten to chime in on the Cutler stuff yet but it will be curious to see what happens to him going forward. Ike Resse yesterday on 610 said that he thinks Cutler has lost a lot of respect with his teammates, and he wont be able to get it back. He said it was just like when Mcnabb wouldnt take a shot to keep playing against the Panthers in the NFC championship game. He said a bunch of guys never forgave him for that, and that his relationship with the team never was the same.
Word. And the way Shields is playing, he is the next Nmandi.eznark said:I really, really, really hope we don't give anyone the kind of money he wants.
eznark said:McNabb for Cutler straight up?
Fuck that, Shields can actually tackle and blitz!Buckethead said:Word. And the way Shields is playing, he is the next Nmandi.
When he figures how to completely turn his head, watch out. Tramon and Shields. Weeee!
That is the rare trade that both teams would want nothing to do with. Mcnabb is old, coming off his worst season, and he was a bad teammate last year, and Cutler is a headcase that plays his worst in big games.
Was going to say that haha. He looked really good coming off the edge on those blitzes.eznark said:Fuck that, Shields can actually tackle and blitz!
eznark said:Shanny and Cuts are BFF's and Chicago has always yearned for McNabb. It's the perfect trade of the 2009 off-season!
eznark said:Not yet he isn't, but he could be. In 12 of his 18 games he has had 3 or fewer catches this year. He has been a total non-factor in the playoffs. He is certainly one of the best big play threats, but on that team he should have far, far more catches.
He is absolutely fantastic, don't misunderstand, and I think his low total his due to the way in which he is used but you have to factor that in when talking about him. If he were a bigger threat on the intermediate levels like he was against New England and the Jets in week 14 I'd call him one of the greats, but he just doesn't do it consistently. Lord help the AFC North if he ever does.
eznark said:Chicago has always yearned for McNabb.
DeaconKnowledge said:It's not his fault; he's always underthrown. Even in the AFC Championship Sunday, Wallace would have had a sure TD if Ben threw the ball another 5 yards; he beat Cromartie easily.
Ben has a cannon for an arm and he still can't catch Wallace half the time.
Buckethead said:It'll be interesting to see how the Carson Palmer situation plays out.
I think he's the best old and busted QB left.
