Yeah, I wholly expect Mario Odyssey will be amazing, but I do think Edge have a bit of favouritism towards certain series.

I wasn't a big fan of the 3D World approach so the fact that they've moved on to something new that is apparently extraordinary is great news to me.
Although I've been on blackout for the game and am already regretting reading a couple of posts in here! The one thing I didn't want to know is how many moons there were! Oh well. I'm like the only person who considers 'numbers of levels / items' to be a spoiler, so it's on me.

Well I can't wait to play Odyssey. Thing is, I still remains suspicious of that kind of review score.
Now that would be something. I don't see it happening though. Metroid is in a much trickier position than Mario.
Prime and Pokemon are probably going to either be 9 or 10, Switch is really just starting and this bodes well for Nintendo.

Im guessing there will be 13-15 kingdoms. Tostarena has 69 moons. This is probably one of the highest moon counts for a kingdom in the game. 900 / 69 is 13, which is only two more than the number of Kingdoms we know about,
They showed off a conventional lava level yesterday in the Japanese commercial, which Im going to assume is one of the final side levels on the moon. The other stage Im betting is Isle Delfino, which could actually also be that level because of its Volcano. If the lava level is neither of these and is its own thing, that puts the count at 14.

Ah, gotcha. Well Gamespot has actually been giving out more 10s lately than they used to, while Edge has been giving out less.
Anyway, for those worried about the amount of moons, the majority of what we've seen in the various videos have not been cut and paste challenges like the Korok seeds from Zelda, so I wouldn't worry that gathering moons will get repetitive.

Yeah, this game probably deserves a 10 like Skyward Sword did.
Only 20 in 21 years, and 20% of them are 3D Mario titles.
I mean.. thats a really really good list and the 10s theyve given overall are still insanely scarce. Shame people are really going to use Skyward Sword of all things to dismiss it. Its still a solid 9/10 for me

After playing it recently, there was no doubt about it scoring high, plus it's Nintendo and Mario, normally a successful combo. It's a joy to play and a fantastic game, can't wait to play the full game.

The Zelda review thread was glorious and I expect Mario's to be as good.
There are issues with Skyward sword but overall I really like that game too so I wasn't bothered by it getting a 10.

Eh I'm not really a Nintendo fan but I think Mario will win it if it's on the same level of goodness as Zelda. Otherwise Zelda.
Regardless Nintendo definitely seems to be doing good things this year. Hard not to be a fan of sorts. Especially after many people (myself very much included) thought the Switch was dooooomed.
The bouncing between 97-99 was legendary
