Like I said in the Mario Odyssey topic:

I wrote the review for Gamer.nl, its a Dutch review though.

I gave it a 9,5. This is pure packaged pleasure. Hundreds of puzzles and platform sections. Controls are perfect. So much fun.

Only (small) setback: some smaller levels don't have as much to do as the bigger ones and after a while you start to see the way you get Power Moons is pretty much the same in each level, although of course the challenges accompanying it are different each times. They're very small problems though, compared to the pure fun that this game is.

I'll try to answer some questions if there are any.

95 minimum, been playing all week I think it's the best Mario since 64.

Now queue 100 people telling me how wrong I am to think Mario 64 was the best one up to now lol

44 critics in and its 97 on Metacritic. Nintendo stays winning in 2017, i think with this Nintendo will win the holiday season if they can stock up the shelves with enough Switch units.

Did you play with the joycons or pro controller? Im concerned about some moves that seem like easier to do with joycons, but I would prefer to play with the pro controller.

Nice, was just about to make this thread since all we had was that troll thread.

Looking great so far. My prediction going in was 97 metacritic. Aggressive, but based on early returns it can be done.

Makes it so hard to resist getting a Switch. But I can't do it for one game, and I still have UC:LL, Horizon, and South Park to finish. Plus Wolfenstein to get through. And Battlefront 2 in a few weeks. I don't have a shortage of things to play.

Both. It is true that one move (the one with the hat spinning around) is more difficult to do with the Pro Controller, but you hardly ever need it. I played most of the game with the Pro Controller and it was fine.

You get more precision with the Joy-Cons, yes.

So my two things....

1- Is it too easy or is there definitely challenge to be found?

2- How big is the game? In the other thread someone spoke of the game being not as big as previous games, which would surprise me.

Golgo 13

The Man With The Golden Dong
Highest rated game of all time on Opencritic currently, holding at a 98/100.

Holy shit guys.

I saw that review that said the game was easy, and I'm inclined to agree from what I saw.

However Nintendo is gonna have a hard time topping this concept, then again I said the same about the galaxy series.

He's kidding dude because you didn't give it a 10.

I understand that.

Listen, this website I wrote it for only gives whole and half numbers, like 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, etcetera. I guess I would be around 9.7 if that was a possibility on the website, but its not.

This is a fantastic game, just under Breath of the Wild for my game of the year, or maybe on the same height as Horizon.

1. I found it mostly easy, but once you have to search for the more challenging power moons after getting the easy ones it gets harder of course. It never challenged me as much as some of the last levels in 3D World though.

2. Big enough in the sense that there are hundreds and hundreds of power moons. There is a lot of after-credits content, mostly in getting more power moons from the levels you unlock during the game. Ive played through the main game in about 8 hours, but the meat of the game is going back to the levels after that and getting everything,

I do not need a switch.
I do not need a switch.
I DO NOT need a switch.

This is about how it's getting for me. I want one, but it's really hard for me to justify $500 (everything I'll need) just for a single game this year. I already owned a Wii U since day one, and own all of three games for it.

Seriously though, I spent a fortune (comparative) just to play Mario 64 upon release, and I don't regret that at all. Ironically, OOT and Mario 64 were the first games I played on that system too. It would be easier if I wasn't already paying off my credit card.

How is the exploration, do you feel you can sink quite some time in the kingdoms, or are they not that big?

So what makes BotW better in your opinion? Clearly both are great games but what makes BotW edge out Oddesey?

Metro Gamecentral highlight potential problems with pacing and overall difficulty outside of the plentiful smaller challenges. They note it's not massively bigger than past Mario games but obviously they don't think it affects an overall hugely positive experience. They specify that post game will give veteran Mario fans a lot of bang for their buck.

But there’s far more than 1. You should also get BotW, MK8D and Mario+Rabbids at a minimum.
Golf Story and Disgaea 5 are great on the go as well.

Depends on the kingdom. There are like 5 REALLY big ones, 5 medium sized ones and a few small ones that are, imo, too small. That's probably the only dissapointment I had. But even the medium sized ones have so much to discover.

You can't really compare the games of course but imo BotW did more to really refresh the series, while Odyssey feels like a sum of all the wonderful parts of Mario history. BotW just blew me away a tad more, I guess, but again, its really difficult to compare the games directly. Its more of a feeling and its highly personal.

Can you put the scores in the first post, OP?

Polygon: 9.5
Super Mario Odyssey is almost certain to be counted among the best games in Nintendo’s star series.

The Verge: An Absolute Delight
There are many moments in Odyssey where it doesn’t necessarily look like a Mario game, but more like the squat plumber has been transported into some other virtual realm. But it always feels like Mario — because it never stops surprising you.

IGN: 10/10
MASTERPIECE, Super Mario Odyssey is a brilliant adventure and love letter to the series that made Nintendo a household name.

etc.

Gameexplain review says the story itself "can" be rushed in 10-12 hours, but there is over 50 hours of content in the game. Lots and lots of postgame stuff.

If I didn't have a PC and PS4 with a bunch of stuff still lined up, then for sure I'd already have a switch. But I can be patient. I think.

This is correct, I blasted through the main game in about 8 to ten hours but the meat of the game is in postgame.
