Swedish model gets rape threats after ad shows her unshaved legs

Dude, the point is when I click on a link saying nsfw I expect to see naked ladies or men or at the very least suggestive images.
There was nothing there and we disappointed !
/S

But seriously, he's not saying one shouldn't participate, he's just saying (and I agree) that if that pic could cause issues with your boss should he/she see it on your screen, then you shouldn't be browsing neogaf at work in first place because there's absolutely nothing about that particular pic that makes it any less safe for work than..anything, really. Any anime pic, any videogame screenshot, any picture really is as safe as the one in the OP.
If your boss or whoever has a problem with it, then they have a problem with you browsing internet at work, which btw is totally understandable.
I can understand that. I've probably argued that point in my past. But it's lazy. The OP was considerate and, except for one poster, you could look at the photo in another place (ie home or cell) and still come in here to discuss without worrying about your boss.

But like i said, being considerate can be hard at times.

I'm not a mod. I don't make the rules. But i can still comment on things. With a hope that tomorrow will be better in here than today.

Been married for 17 years. I only shave my legs if I'm going to be wearing a skirt or shorts or dress. Husband still fucks me on the regular and has no complaints about my disgusting hairy legs.

This in my experience is how most long term relationships work.

So get over it. Shaving is a chore most of us don't do on the regular. Sorry

Yep. And once winter hits and its pants only I have no reason to shave. I only shave when my legs are on display for the public, at home everyone else doesn’t give a fuck.

Its so messed up that not publicly conforming to beauty standards can cause an actual threat to a women’s safety. All of the guys in here whining about how icky you think it is should consider what it would be like if you might get harassed, raped, or killed because you didn’t feel like shaving your stubble one morning.

sorry, dudes.

I hate the feeling against tights. I'll definitely shave when wearing tights. But many times I'd rather be doing something useful, which is literally anything other than taking the time to shave my legs.

We only care because we were trained to care. By the time women largely stop doing it, boys and men will be used to it and old farts like me will just be yelling at clouds.

Tbh I still can’t tolerate long black socks with basketball shorts or flat brimmed caps.

You literally have to CSI "Enhance and Zoom" meme to get to the point people are mad at

I opened the page, thought something else by the wording as maybe a statement, thought the picture was wrong, then I had to zoom in ridiculous to see hair

Like really?, Your mad at that!

So now people's own curiosity at zooming in pissed them off, so not even the models fault!
Oy Vey!

You'd have to be blind to not see it. The picture was deliberately composed to showcase her leg hair.

Nah her leg is the foreground focus and quite hairy. Source: phone

Im fine with hair, but the difference in colour between her head and leg hair is really off putting. I didnt know I had an issue with this until I saw that. I learnt something new

Body hair can look different depending on angles and lighting, I'm a natural brunette and my body hair usually appears brown from afar and at certain angles/lighting but in fact about 90% of it is actually blonde.

Those idiots making such threats must have been taught that they have complete freedom to harass and insult anyone they want anonymously. I blame unmoderated environments like YouTube comments for letting this shit happen.

On the topic of hair: I find it a pain in the ass to just shave my face daily (finding the random hairs and occasionally the random wtf hair on my neck). I couldn't imagine having to shave my legs daily which is far more than just the simple 5 min job I'm complaining about.

Well, she's beautiful and good on her for not abiding by society's expectations of beauty. I feel sorry for those who went out of their way to threaten her and hope that they improve their character.

Eh, takes me no more than a couple minutes. You do it in long strokes all around the leg and then you're done.

I like leg hair on a woman. Come at me, bros.

I don't understand such comments. So inappropriate. They are her legs, she can do whatever she wants with them, and still be fabulous.

I got a question
First I I openly accept girls who choose not to shave and they don't have to, good for them I could hang around with a girls who wear shorts and are not shaved anyday

But is it wrong if affects my attraction in the girls with noticeable hair on their legs? Like the way a lot of girls would not be as attracted to some men with Facial hair, chest hair and back hair on men ?

....or am I still displaying ignorance?

I don't think you're in the wrong for letting it affect your attraction to some random person on the street you might not ever see again, but it crosses into weird/fucked up territory if you (the colloquial you) need to let that person or other people know how gross you think it is.

also if it's a person you are/would be dating long term, you'd just have to accept the fact that we literally all grow hair.

Can't stand women with unshaved legs ( never meet one and doesn't want to ) but sending rape treats is fucking disgusting, what's wrong with people...

.... You don't even want to interact with a woman if she isn't shaved?

If so, you're legitimately part of the problem. Good luck with your moral high ground, there.

For the title, the Ryan Reynolds "But why".gif is perfect. Just can't understand what goes around in the mind of people that issue threats about something like this.

My thoughts, and I doubt I'm in minority with these thoughts, are:
"Okay, so she decided not to shave her legs, her body, her choice, none of my damn business."

Man, I have bad news for those guys if they ever expect to be a steady relationship: Your wife and/or partner is not going to shave her legs 100% of the time, for the rest of her life. You will be exposed to leg hair on a woman! GASP.

I know people who have either very fine hair or are hairless on their legs.

It's pretty common in asia according to Google.

Your lady is not usually going to let it get in the 1 centimeter category though, and that's because even though it's certainly sexist, hairiness usually gives off a masculine vibe. Maybe this is because men are by and large more hairy than women. We seem to, as we've evolved, exaggerate certain traits about our genders to increase the potency or distinctness of the gender. Body hair became one of those things a long time ago. I think it's pretty cool to break these archetypes though, as they are superficial in the end.

I keep all my body hair trimmed or shaven. My junk is always tongue-bathingly-smooth, and I'm ready to shoot porn at a moment's notice should the need arise. I'd happily shave/wax/laser off more body hair, but I'd never grow it out; no matter how much society tried to shame me into compliance.

So you do you, hirsute homies. Fuck the misogynistic internet bullies.

Why would you threaten to rape a woman because of something you don't find sexually attractive/arousing on her body?

I mean, threatening rape makes it seem like her hairy legs are a pretty big dealbreaker. How do you even get it up at that point?

Because it's about bringing violence against a woman in the worst way possible, not about having sex.

So you don't find her attractive because she doesn't shave her legs but you'd rape her? I don't get it.
Rape isn't about sexual pleasure. It's an act of violence and control.

Potential wrong quote?

I understand the stigma/cultural status quo, but why quote me? What does the above have to do with N7.Angel saying they would not want to even interact with a woman who has body hair?

Honestly, I think it looks cool. She's beautiful, love her hair (on her head) in particular.

Even more honestly, it doesn't matter what I think. It wouldn't matter if I thought leg hair on women is the most hideous thing ever, because she should be respected regardless and should do whatever she wants. Don't know how else to put it, it's such a painfully simple sentiment, yet it's practically impossible for huge swaths of people to not be scum.

those threats must've come from some really unstable teenage hormones

anyone over 20 having a problem with this is who we should feel sorry for

Oh totally, and women shouldn't feel the need to display their femininity in that way if they don't want to. Not everyone has to play that game, and while all choices have consequences, they shouldn't include anyone being disrespectful. Live and let live.

We need to get over this whole “women have no hair on their bodies except their heads.” Bullshit. Women have hair. Let them have hair.
I agree completely. What's crazy is how utterly strange that photo seems to me, because I'm completely not used to seeing such hairy legs on a lady! If my wife has even a millimetre of stubble on her legs she panics, such is society.

But then it's only recently become acceptable for men to have facial hair for professional purposes. In my last job I had to be clean shaven, such was the policy for customer-facing employees. And that was pretty common until the last few years when beards suddenly came back in to fashion with the hipster movement.

As for the rape threats, little disgusts me more in this day and age. Cowardly, pathetic, insecure individuals hiding behind internet anonymity typing the most abhorrent words imaginable, as if they don't deeply affect both the person they're aimed at, and also other survivors.

Some GAFers in this thread should be deeply ashamed of themselves too, very worrying.

Because it's not about sexual attraction.

It's about showing women their place for not abiding the social norms you champion. You know, the ones where women are the fairer sex and so on. One of the social norms in place is that women should shave their legs to look pretty and stuff. Here's a woman who doesn't, clearly scandalous, so for the sake of everything righteous she has to be punished so she'll learn to never do that again. Therefore rape threats!

This is how some people view the world, really.

As a woman who decided to shave last night for the first time in 8 months, I did it because I just got a new mattress and sheets and wanted to feel the silky smoothness against my legs. I gotta say, it was amazing.

I don't shave for anyone's appeal but my own, it's too much work to expect me to shave every week because "it's gross" somehow. These men sending threats are deranged.

I always thought it was hilarious how society has nothing against hairy arms on women even though some arms can be almost as hairy as the legs. Beauty standards are inconsistent and stupid.

Sounds like people who have never been in a serious relationship.

I wouldn't be surprised if the same people making threats are the ones that moan about not being able to find a girlfriend because women don't like nice guys.

I’m fine with body hair. Shave, don’t shave, whatever. My wife shaves when she wants to and I don’t care. You do you.

I've definitely been made to feel self conscious about the hair on my arms before (and seen really mean comments directed towards pictures of women where you can tell they have arm hair), but yeah overall I'd say the legs (and armpits) get the most concern. I dunno, maybe arms are predisposed to being less hairy, usually?

Talking about a dating situation, big nope for me.

I don't see why I'm part of any problem lol, Women can do what they want, I'm not saying that all women need to shave or not, it's their body, I'm just saying that an unshaved women has 0 chance with me, it's fine, they're millions of people that are probably fine with it.

I don't want to have sex or date a woman if she is not shaved either. It is their choice and that is perfectly fine just like choosing not to date a girl if she is unshaved is also fine. What is not fine is sending her death threats or bullying over it.
