Take Two CEO on VR: "Thankfully, we didn't waste any money on it. "

My first VR experience was on psvr, and similar. Low resolution, basic controls. But my god, it honestly felt like I was inside a sci fi spacecraft. My brother and I were blown away. Technology finally convinced us of something without smoke and mirrors...on low end hardware.

We went in imagining it as being like 3dtv 2.0 with the screen close to our face. Lol. No.
Yeah it's mental. I can't wait to see what Sony do with Psvr2, built from the ground up on a console built with VR in mind. I can see the SSD helping with stuff as well.

I can't wait to play a Skyrim like game in VR and just spend hours wondering about

no one is forcing you to comment

I reply to anyone who quotes me. Want me to stop commenting? Then stop quoting me :messenger_grinning_smiling:

So ironic that you cannot follow your own advice.

Can you provide an example of me telling VR fans that they can't continue to enjoy it?

My entire argument in this thread is that some people can't handle it due to health, so it will probably remain an enthusiast device. I never once said that fans should not still be able to have it.

Yet you tell me to leave you in peace, hypocrite much? If you want to be left alone don't comment.

Your entire argument is arguing for arguings sake. No one here is dissagreeing with you yet you still like keep saying it like a Karen.

I can guarantee you that what I said before was that there are ways in which a virtual bar is better. There is no way I would say a virtual bar is universally better for everyone.
This is nothing what you said back then. You even dismissed the real one.
Here is your take:

Really, that in the end are the "only" benefits?! But this is the difference between the real and the virtual!!!

Because of that that I think you are trolling everyone. No problem to like to much something, but this...

why do I keep reiterating hard science in this thread?

Imagine it's 2030.

Imagine it's 2030. You wake up, put on your AR glasses, walk the dog and your virtual pikachu in a meadow of endless flowers which is actually just your dull local field area. You get back home and feel like gaming.

A portal perpetually exists in your gaming area thanks to the AR glasses - it shows a live feed of your virtual house. You simply walk through the portal in real life and suddenly you're in VR as these double as VR glasses. All you had to do was literally walk into your room. You sit on your virtual couch, which is automatically aligned with your real couch. You snap your fingers and get transported to your private IMAX theater that feels as good as the real thing. You play some non-VR games on this 900 inch display that beats any setup possible in reality.

Then you want to play a VR game, so you just continue sitting on your couch and play your VR game like that - and when you reach a calming area in the game, it's more relaxing than it ever could on a 2D display.

See how frictionless the future will be? It will be easier than how you game today even in VR.
When it gets to that point I’m interested!

Okay, so this is more about clubs than bars. Yes, I would stand by that statement, and I clearly said that reality has benefits. I never said that virtual clubs are universally better, did I?

It is honestly true though. Can you really argue that a virtual club where literally anything is possible is not going to somehow make a real club feel dull in comparison? People will still go to real clubs - for those unique real benefits, but a virtual club can be more transcendental and out of the realms of normality.

Real clubs are better in some ways. Virtual clubs are better in many other ways.

The bold is not only a lie but a factually impossible thing.
Yes, you can't exactly make a virtual wish to live for 5000 years. My point is that you can do anything within the context of a virtual world because there are no physical laws that can't be broken. You can even change the perception of your own biology. IE: You could embody an avatar with four arms, be the size of a mouse or a skyscraper, have a torso made of a black hole, hair made of fire etc.

Can you actually challenge my claim apart from the semantics?

Yep, we've found our resident flat-earther guys. The irony of a brainwashed individual thinking others are brainwashed.

I barely watch TV, and I don't even use mainstream media for news; I rely entirely on scientific papers, studies, people who report those, and a little thing called logic that is solely missing from this thread.
Go research blue led light radiation then you sausage. Permanent retina damage.
Huh? I'm not claiming to be an expert. I actually didn't even know much about eye damage until you mentioned it. Just mentioned my personal experience. You come off as really aggressive sometimes.

And apparently VR color displays aren't that big at all for the military. Some of the most strict vision requirements in the world and they're using full-color displays.

Well any way blue light radiation is a big deal.
Fighter pilots have green heads up display in their helmets and cockpits because green light is the least stressful on the eyes.
The military don't want to waste millions of £ on training a fighter pilot for them to loose their sight from a full colour hud.
Blue light radiation eye damage is also accumulative over time. Like being exposed to radiation increases the risk of cancer over time.

I never challenged this. I said that VR is barely any worse than normal displays because blue light hits your eyes very easily even without wearing a headset.

If this concerns you, use a filter.

I'm not saying your wrong but I did what you asked and...

So why does blue light get such a bad rap? First off, there has been some speculation that blue light exposure can cause macular degeneration, but the claims have been misleading. It would take very high amounts of exposure to lead to macular degeneration and it would actually be more likely caused by sun exposure than your smartphone. Furthermore, the risks of macular degeneration are higher from aging, smoking, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and being overweight.

Now go research blue LED light damage.
How about you do it, I already did your research for you and it came back against your argument. If you want us to see it you do the research and show us, but be sure to get a recent article not some years old out of date one, thanks.

While they're at it, I'd love to see them bring back some research on why no masks are better than masks.

this guy was right. it's not the future of gaming for his audience - which is comprised of flatheads happy to push buttons in front of a tv just as they've doing it their whole life. They're super happy to play GTA V for the 3rd generation straight or to save Princess Peach for the ompth time (even she can't stand it anymore, according to Odyssey)

still, I thank him for the VR ports for Borderlands 2 and LA Noire and the upcoming AAA VR project from Rockstar he seemingly forgot about. Guess not wasting money on these means the ports turned a profit, which is good. May more come up.

Been a VR user since 2017 and still buying games. If all the VR games I do be buying were full price AA or triple A or even that 40 euro mark Sony likes to hit with their VR games, I'd easily spend more money on VR than traditional games. I'm closing on 150 VR games as is, minus maybe 20 or so experiences or free games, so 130. That's a feat and I love the medium so much that I can rarely wait for a sale. it's gotta have an attach rate higher than any other system in history if you isolate it as it's own platform and I think that's what keeps it going for now but not every game has to be beat saber for VR to take off on a slight inclined accent over the next decade or two. I suspect because of VR porn, VR will have a higher install ceiling than simulation racing but it'll be quite some time if at all that it reaches the level of a Nintendo Switch or PS4, what I do see though is a market about the size of the Xbox one with dedicated devices, discounting third party mobile phone nonsense and provided Sony keep PSVR around and don't decide to put it to bed. If they do, I'll never have faith in them as a company again in anything other than a console as they are as quick as Google to scrap there projects. Sony need to keep PSVR running and evolving or they'll loose early adopter support as that is where a good chunk of early adopters as residing and loving, it'd be such a massive mistake for them to scrap it. So I predict 50 million of similar generational units in 10-20 years and like the console markets cap this past decade, it flattening off around there.
