Take-Two expects Call of Duty will boost Game Pass numbers 'for a period of time', but wouldnt apply to their new games.

Right, he's not talking about a competitor's sub service, I stated that in my post.

Your post was making it like he was talking about a competitor's service.

By competing subscription services I meant services that they do not own.

For the part I underlined....this thread and the article I posted...he's literally talking about subscription services in general....and offering his opinion. Which can be seen as criticizing.

He criticizes how companies choose to use it. I always say Game Pass itself isnt the problem..its how MS is trying to position it than can be a problem.
We can all agree on that TT would be irrational in its situation to launch a GTA VI day one on Gamepass or another service if they are also not their own. Their great IPs have prestige, they are bestsellers even across several generations. But that does not mean that he is stating that other editors and Studios are being irrational. Especially for what has been pointed out, because it would be disrespectful and arrogant for him to give his opinion on the specific situations of others. That is why "To US" and "for our properties" stand out. If it were a global criticism it would not be necessary.

For me, his words have nothing conflicting. It is simply a CEO defending his own business strategy based on his specific situation (Imagine saying that perhaps another strategy could be better or more effective than the one they apply 😅). In no case is there criticism or disparagement of the business decisions of others or the validity of subscription services in general.

There is Gamers, and then there is Consumers.

It is actually bad for Consumers for games to be in Subscription, because they lose their greatest power to vote with their money on what they want to support. This is what happens with fans of Netflix TV series, who are incapable of funding the production of continued sequels because Netflix doesn't do that. And thus popular series on Netflix get killed because it doesn't serve Netflix, causing the audience to suffer.

You want to get games for cheap/free? You think you win that way?

By not paying for the product, you lose control over the product. Voting with your wallet was the only power you had, and you are giving that power away in Gamepass. You lose the vote on what kind of games get made, and thus you lose games you want in the long run.

Yes, I am telling you getting something for free is bad. Nothing is free. There is always a price to be paid, and historically the cheapest way is to pay cash up front.

1, COD isnt going anywhere if GamePass number dont spike massively.

2, GamePass is not the only way to get COD or vote with your wallet.

What you are saying definitley applies for new games and IP that rely on engagement numbers and sales. However, the COD's, Forza's and GTA's are immune to it.

These people never see the bigger picture and long term plan and how that will ruin gaming.
