Taking time off of work/school to spectate E3? Post in this thread.

I'm personally taking off June 6th and 7th to watch E3 stuff, and possibly play some sort of drinking game while watching the conferences. I know that I've seen Mama Robotnik and artwalknoon post that they're taking time off as well. I feel that we at least should take a tally of how much E3 is is degrading productivity across GAF.

I'll keep a tally in the first post.

Grampa Simpson: 2 days (4 day weekend) - June 6-7
Mama Robotnik: 5 days (9 day superweekend) - June 6-10
TruePrime: 5 days (9 day superweekend) - June 6-10
bathala: 3 days
Hero of Legend: 1 day - June 7
Witchfinder General: 1 day (works part time)
Dabanton: 2 days - June 6-7
BackwardsSuggestions: 5 days (9 day superweekend) - June 6-10
AceBandage: 1 day - June 7
Blueblur1: 2 days (4 day weekend) - June 6-7
Bluth54: 2 days (Works friday, but has Monday off normally) - June 7-8
The Broken Ska Record: 5 days (double-purposed) - June 6-10
Stackboy: 5 days (but taking another 5 off for other things) - June 6-10
butter_stick: 5 days (9 day superweekend?) - June 6-10
Doosi: 5 days (9 day superweekend) - June 6-10
Jetku: 1 day - June 7

I used to but not anymore. I will just download the conferences. HD plus no lag. I will stay from all gaming websites.

Thanks for the namecheck!

Mama Robotnik - already off at the weekend, booked Monday 6th - Friday 10th June off, and already off the weekend following. That's nine days to enjoy the build up, the E3 event itself, and a good chunk of time for post E3 discussion too. Maybe I should reinstall my GIF software too, maybe I'll be inspired.

Maybe I'll even try playing a video game while I'm off too, if I have the time.

So a total of 5 days off, but 9 days dedicated to the event?

Since I work part-time I only need to take one day off to enjoy the entire conference without interruption.

Yay for E3!

I think so, I have no plans for the weekend before or after E3 and have been avoiding filling them.

I don't even know, but I work a boring desk job so I can follow it either way.

I'd rather just keep up with it on the internet, cept I'll tune in for the Cafe reveal if I can.

I'm in the same situation. Not sure if its worth missing a day's pay to for sure watch it.

I have a couple weeks saved up and decided to take the 7th off. I should have done the 6th too, looking back, but I'm trying to save vacation pay for later in the year.
Should be fun!

My plan was to have the 6th off and close on the 7th so I could see the conferences, but my sister's going to be off that week, so I may as well take my vacation.

Thats only a small part of it. The Gaf meltdowns are actually far more enjoyable to me then anything that is actually announced.

I only fear that with out Tak Fuji that this E3 will be left wanting after the magic that was Microsoft and Konami's pressers last year.

Well this is my first E3 with Gaf so it'll be quite the experience.

Hopefully taking off the 7th. I always try to take off for Nintendo's conference, but we have a big project going on right now...

I will be able to watch Sony's live, but Microsoft's will come later. I will be on media blackout until I can get home to watch Microsoft on that Monday.

I'm putting in my two week notice tomorrow but they'll probably just let me go considering that there's just no hours where I work.

...I should probably clarify that I'm not doing this because of E3, but it definitely works out.

It will truly be a treat. Well when we aren't getting Errors. However it almost certainly will go down during the Big 3, if something amazing megaton gets dropped the down time will be painful because the reactions are so great haha.

Actually, do we know if Off Topic is going down on monday and tuesday?

Do we have anything going on that week like we did World Cup last year?

I don't know if it counts but a friend of mine who isn't registered here is taking off two days (of work) just for E3.

Took the week off. (I was suppose to do some stuff in the meantime because I was moving July 1st, but I'm not moving anymore.)

I'm going to take two weeks off. It seems a little extreme but I think it's worth it.

I just want to savor the event, just take it all in. I want to read all of the previews of the games we know out there, so I can catalog the changes from the previews to the E3 reveals. I want to anticipate the unveiling of the Cafe and the brilliant and innovative software titles that most assuredly is in store for the event.

After the show is over, I want to digest the information I received and talk about with other people on the internet. I think this will be the most exciting part: to share our hopes, dreams, and speculations with people across the world. It's kind of a shameful admission but I want to learn some of the best photo editing software so I can capture some of the great events in image form.

I know it sounds extreme but damn it, this will probably be the biggest E3 I will have ever experienced as a gamer. Hell, I'll probably be cloistered in my room, absorbing the news and reading reactions as they come in. I don't really expect to go outside much and I've already kind of have a gameplan as to what I intend to eat. I will only go outside to pick up Olive Garden and Buffalo Wild Wings. As for the pizza, they can just deliver it to me.

I'm excited for this event guys. Count me in!

I'm taking the week off from work.

I'm allowed 4+ weeks of vacation a year. I really only care about spacing them out so that there isn't a huge big gap between any of 'em. If another person really wants a specific time off, no big deal; I just push it forward or back a week.

Except for E3 this year. Almost 10 years at my place of employ, and I've never raised a stink about a week, which I guess came to bite me in the butt for the first time ever. Other people get their way because of weddings, or child birth, or anniversaries. Me? E-fucking-3.

Funny thing is, I took last year's E3 week off too and got it without a fuss. It was my first time doing so, and as it winded down last year I thought to myself "y'know, this wasn't really worth it. I can catch up on all this stuff at night and on the weekend. Next year, I'll use my week to escape a heavy work load." But when it came time to pick, there was only one week I wanted.

... Gonna be so bummed if there are no cool surprises this year though.

I think it might actually go down more this year during the Konami event if it's anywhere near last years conference.

Either way for the tally. I'm either not going into work or just watching the conferences there off the clock. Regardless of what happens I'm not missing them.
