Tales of Xillia Remastered |OT| Another One

Since I already have the original games physically, including all the others, I'll just wait for the remastered editions to go on sale digitally.

This has coop? or is it local or ah, fuck it, man. I'm tired, I had a few and I'm a fucking lazy. I'll come back and look myself. I'm so fucking annoyed with myself, rn.

I'll probably get this one down the line, but I still have to play Zestiria as well.

I heard about 3 Tales remasters coming, so Xillia 2 is to be expected, right? And if the last one is Abyss, then at least that's one I won't bother buying, unless they remake the combat system from scratch.

Is it normal that I can't switch characters in combat? I tried to set Milla as leader but I can't even control her unless I put her to Auto, and then she's just going to play automatically without my input even if she's the leader. Very weird.

Do I need to progress the main story to switch characters? I guess I'm gonna stick with Jude for now.

EDIT: Apparently you just need to press L1 + D-Pad to change characters while in combat. It didn't work in the first zones, but now that I'm at the beach area it seems to work fine.

Can these cunts just do an Abyss remaster like we've all be asking for

I got tired of them not doing it, so I made my own earlier this year.

Btw the port is quite solid, and like Graces F Remastered you can basically use the Grade Shop fully from the beginning. It's basically a pain free experience.

But:
- There is a 120 FPS cap. Why? Unlock that shit.
- The anti aliasing is pretty bad, the only option is Off, SMAA or FXAA. This is a forward rendered game for sure so why not include MSAA? The game barely uses the GPU so you could upsample to 8K even, but I'm not gonna bother.
- I feel like the game aesthetic did non age as well as Graces F. Graces F is lower fidelity but it's more charming imho.
- The fact that I have to manage both the action points and the TP is tricky. You really have to be careful about Artes usage.
- I wish there was an option to disable the flick-the-stick to dodge. When you are out of TP and try to use an Arte, most of the time it performs the dodge action, which is dumb.
- The camera has a bit of acceleration. Slightly annoying.

I'm enjoying it so far, playing Tales of always feel cozy, you know what to expect.

What the actual fuck. That looks amazing! I recently replayed a bit on 3DS again, but I'm busy with Dragon's Dogma 2 now so I didn't continue far as I only play 1 game at a time until I 100% it(most of the time). But I was planning on replaying it on 3DS after I'm done with DD2. I have a feeling they don't have any source code anymore or just don't give a shit. But damn, those screenshots looks amazing!

If you have a PC/Laptop built in the last decade, you should be able to run it on PCSX2 at high resolutions without breaking a sweat with those HD textures as well.

It says "work in progress" but it's basically 99% of the entire game covered, minus some inconsequential things.

HD Textures d/l here:

Whats the point of a challenge if the gradeshop already is usuable from the start. I dont like these trends making a game easy like a breeze from the start

It's completely optional tho.

And I like it. 🤷‍♂️

I only want rereleases of the 2d ones, to include the ones we never got in the US. Thankfully, at least some of them have fan translations… but give them to on a modern console with trophy support and I'm there day one.

As for the 3d ones, eh. *Shrug*

Not everyone is motivated by challenge. As long as it's optional, I see no issues at all.

I'm motivated by fun gameplay and/or story.

I'd also like to support games like this. Knowing that I have a chance of beating it bumps it up in my queue. I have too many games to play and very little time, as it is.

Anyone get this on switch1/2? Is it all on cart? I know the eshop version is like 13gb or something. It's not. A dedicated switch 2 game so it's better to just by the cart but some of these pubs don't put the whole game on the cart or use it like a key card.

Google Ai says it's a 16gb download even with the cart, but I don't believe it.

Popped this in for a bit, base PS5. It's kind of a mixed bag.

+ IQ is sharp and pristine
+ Auto saves in every area are appreciated
+ I don't remember if it was the case on PS3 too, but the map shows supply items and side event locations which makes everything a lot more easy to manage. To this day, and even for its remaster, it's impossible to play Vesperia without a guide cause you miss almost 50% of the game's narrative content in unmarked side events.
+ The FMV/animated scenes look really crisp, the AI up-scale on them is FANTASTIC.

- Some of the textures look very poor, like they barely got any uplift from PS3
- The anti aliasing is kinda poor, only the really high resolution seems to make it bare-able, lots of notable shimmering in motion. This is an issue the Legend of Heroes games also have, for some reason they only do TAA on the PC versions.
- The asking price for this remaster is too high, should have been $10 less.

Why did this game need a remaster? I loved it and it was great as it is. It isn't even that old.
Where else can you play it? If I remember correctly it was ps3 only. That leaves a ton of people without access. I have it for ps3 but my ps3 is I it's last leg, wifi and Bluetooth don't work. Controllers don't work even plugged in.as they don't hold a charge. Thumbs ticks are tacky like they melted down.

I play jrpgs on switch so I can move from TV to couch to porch etc... Like I used to wirh vita/psp and ds/3ds.

There is so much from the ps3 era that is stuck there. The more remasters the better.

Drowning is shit to play. I was in the same situation when it released on PS3 ugh. Eventually I'll play this.

The more I'm revisiting this, the more I'm realizing why I had completely blanked out on the original release.

It's a pretty big drop off in quality as the follow up to Vesperia.

The characters, locations etc are all nowhere near as good / memorable.

$10 or less? FOH…less is a fine argument, but $10 is just a dumb argument 😂

I said should have been $10 less than it's current price.

It's $39.99, should have been $29.99.
Ohhhh, my bad lol. I was gonna say, I figured you, out of all people, wouldn't go that outlandish. Yea, $30 would have been the sweet spot. I'm good with $40 because it's one of my favorites in the series, but $30 would have probably been a better option for those on the fence to jump in.

If I enjoyed the combat in Tales of Destiny DC, should I get Xillia remake or Grace F?
I tried Vesperia and while I do like the combat, I just couldn't stand Karol as a character for some reason. Are there any similar character in Xillia or Grace F?

I played 4 "Tales of" games until now: Symphonia, Vesperia, Zestria, Berseria. Finished all of them.

Hated Symphonia. Meh'd to Vesperia. Ok'd to Zestria and Berseria to a degree. Berseria was the most enjoyable one but I wouldn't call it masterpiece.

Because of my previous Tales of experiences I cannot get hyped to this franchise. Maybe I should try Arise.
This is very similar to me, I liked Berseria mostly. It was the only one I have finished. Vesperia is the second closest, then Symphonia. I lost the desire to finish the games and almost lost interest in finishing Berseria too. Maybe the games just aren't for me, lol. I have Arise but haven't even started it.

I think it's still a decent game but Vesperia was the last full package Tales game with a world map and actual unlockable costumes. The character design decline didn't come until Zestiria.

Going through Destiny DC right now, Graces F uses the same CC system so you should be right at home

I started using Auto-Levelling because it takes ages to level up every character manually. I had 30 GP to spend per character, ain't got no time for that. They should have made it much quicker, they system is extremely slow. If you take into account levelling up, setting up the new skills, setting up the new arts, you are gonna be in the menu for >30 mins. Rinse and repeat in a couple more hours.

For those who remember playing this on the PS3.

Is it worth doing an entire second run with the other character, as in is there different enough content to justify a full game replay?

Currently playing as Jude and outside of the intro and maybe one scene, it feels like Jude and Mila are together all the time, not sure if the other run will have enough new content.

Meh, not really. There are some extra small tidbits of story, but nothing worth a whole playthrough for. I'll personally do it for the trophies, but outside of that not a lot of reason.

from what i got from the np review no not unless you're really into the Lord the girl has some extra cutscenes to add some more substance but that's about it

My fucking god! Th Remaster is showing every treasure chest on the map!!!
What is wrong with modern devs I can't take this shit anymore, on the OG version you had to find treasure yourself, like explore the map, now u see everything! -.-

You can disable all of that if you want.
