Did they actually fix the atrocious lag for online play this time?

I don't think it's a problem with the actual game itself. I think it's a problem with 12 year olds trying to host 16 player rooms with 250k upload speed.

What's up with that anyhow? It turned me off when it was first released and that shit was going on.

I tried playing it last week but I just don't get the game. Nobody will explain to me things liek "ubering", and I kept getting killed by turrets. I got a bunch of kills as a heavy & demoman, but, I doubt I'll be playing it again. Every time I boot up The Orange Box I just want to play one of the HL2 games.

That's a shame, TF2 on 360 is pretty fun, it feels so different to the PC version - better paced, almost. Hulking around giant rocket launchers and gattling guns works well with the slightly slower sticks.

Valve has a nasty habit of shafting their 360 fans when it comes to posting a change log with patches.

no to all of the above.

I knew this would happen. Any thread about a Valve game ends up being console vs. PC :lol

I can't not say anything when people are bitching about non-existant issues.

Im not a fan of fps ports to console, never seems to work well. But TF2 on pc is a gift from the gods.

After extensive playtesting (4 days), they've determined that 16 rockets is still far too many for soldiers, they now respawn with two barn swallows.

I really don't care about the aghast replies. When you ship a game with only one map (gravelpit) that isn't unbearable crap, you've failed. And that's before going into how momentum based gameplay combined with the severe team over solo focus utterly fucks balance on casual servers.

I love Team Fortress 2 on 360. I bought it on PC and prefer playing it on the console. I know, I'm insane. I think I just prefer the slower pace and less people.

On the PC they nerfed the Demoman's ammo reserves. Is that what they changed for the other versions as well?

Are there any dedicated servers for the console versions?

2Fort2 has and will always be the definitive TF map. Been that way since Quake 1.

I really just need to set up bootcamp to play this somewhere besides 360. I was really looking forward to it but the lag killed it for me. Horrible Horrible netcode :(

I think it's because my PC struggles. Even at 800x600 with everything on low I don't get over 30fps. With a GeForce 7600 + 3ghz P4 and 2GB RAM. It confuses me.

The only differences I noticed are:

they fixed the connection bar being covered in the server list
when you walk into a teammate or a teammate's building, it pushes you out faster
I think dispensers give you health slower
you can host 14 player games, instead of just 12 or 16

There's probably a ton of other small things

:-/

i think they fixed someting in the last 2-3 updates to make the game perform better so maybe you should try it again.

Runs fine in 1280x1024 on high with a 3ghz P4, 1GB RAM and a GF 8600 GT

You need to optimize your system if you're getting those framrates at that res.
I have a 6800 AGP, 1800+ Athlon XP, and 1 GB of RAM.

I know. I have no idea what to do though. I'm running XP and have the latest NVIDIA drivers. Other than that I'm kinda ignorant.

Ya, this game is still completely broken. Me and a friend tried to join 8 games today, and every single game was laggy and dropped connection after 5 minutes or less. Every single one. After 30 minutes of trying to get a single decent game in we just gave up. The patch did nothing for the lag. The server browser still sucks too, we each have to refresh the list about 3 times until we actually can see the same games because most of the time only 2 or 3 will come up when there are dozens more out there.

It's incredibly frustrating because the game is FUN, it's just complete shit on the 360. Valve chews, sucks and swallows donkey ass when it comes to coding on consoles. COD4 and Halo 3 have little to no problems with user hosting on 16 player games, TF2 can't even manage an 8 or 10 player match without everything going down the shitter.

I play with most settings on medium or low, at 1440x900, with a GeForce 6800 Go + 1.86GHz Pentium M and 2GB RAM.

I get ~20-30 fps.

ShowDog, I have nowhere near as much trouble on TF for 360. I can't remember the last time I joined a game that was laggy, even.

Slavik81, things are a bit better now, I've overclocked my card and run it in a window, which gets it at a constant 30fps. Still, it's disappointing. I love the game too much to care though.

Kind of weird. But I've generally played all my shooters at 20-30fps. It doesn't really bug me until you hit the teens... although the tearing is atrocious.

I always have to have "wait for vertical sync" on, even though it's not recommended for my card. Maybe that's why I get poor performance, but I will not play without it.

Actually, on second thought... I agree.
With the changes to movement they made despite being more or less the same, it's quite different to navigate it. The changes to the bridge (giving it a roof) and the sewers also kind of bug me.)

Of course, I was a sniper in TF1, and they've severely nerfed my class to the point at which I no longer play him (both on 2fort and in general), so I somewhat wrote it off as that.
