I guess I can see why would he wasn't at Evo.
What annoys me about a Pling is that he dropped a bunch of rounds because instead of taking the guaranteed damage he would intentionally drop the combo to set up for a relaunch. TAKE. THE. DAMAGE.
Also there are a few situations where he continued to play high risk as Ling does but that wasn't necessary. Just get in 2 hits and be done man.
Nin eats lows like I do. I think he blocked AOP+4~3 ONCE. Also, why did he die to straight f+3,1,1+2 in the first round? I don't think any of that is guaranteed.
I finally did an online tournament last night and man, it was a blast (need some more people to play with on Xbox though, is there a spreadsheet of sorts?)

Asuka is not a very popular player at all lol. I hit brawler with her, but I don't think I've seen one player higher than a grand master with her, and that's out of over 800 matches; the only characters I've seen less than her are Kuma and Gigas.

Back in REV Major PH there was one station that used a PS4 Pro... and the international players (especially JDCR) complained that there was a lot of lag on that station compared to those which used standard PS4s.

I've seen one above Brawler, but yes, she is rare (mine is also a Brawler).
The only Tekken 7 tier list I've seen has her AT the BOTTOM. I refuse to believe that.

Yeah, quite a change from TTT2 where she was eeeeverywhere in the lower ranks. I'm thinking the fact that her decent combos are less super noob friendly might have something to do with it.
Dimeback got 9th at EVO with her and there's also Fergus, those might be players to look at for some ideas.
the higher the resolution, the more delay gets added. Thats why some EVO guy setted up all machines to run the game at 720p before the tournament started but some players were resetting the resolutions anyway. Higher resolution doesnt add too much extra delay but the ps4 version already has the most amount of delay compared to xb1 and pc version, lowering it as much as possible is best for these high level players.

I feel your pain brother. I played a Master Raven last night, beat me about 15 times before I finally beast him and left. (Just so tired and was up too late for work, should have just stopped after the 1st match)
However I did save the matches on my PS4, so one, I can review. And two play Master Raven and now I have some great tips on what to do with her! So I can play her, and best of all know what I'm fighting against next time we square off.
I would suggest doing the same.
When I play a session I try to play my couple of favorites, and then spend some time with a new character, even if I'm not planning on keeping them as a main. But just knowing what the new character is like and how they are played etc. helps a million.I feel your pain brother. I forgot the PS4 is always recording stuff in chunks. I got so used to not being able to share anything after Persona 5. It would've really helped with the Alisa I fought like 2 hours ago for like 20 matches. What an annoying bastard. His defense was too good. I had to do a bunch of monkey shit I'd never done before with Xiaoyu to be able to find an opening, so I definitely learned some new tricks despite the dozen or so losses.

I'm the same. It might not make for a great W/L ratio or rank but i think it -is- great for getting better. So don't change a thing.

FWIW top Euro players rate Asuka as probably top 10 in the game. Then again we have quite a few high level Asukas over here.
She got great buffs in 7, her only weakness remains having the worst 10 frame punish in the game.

I had a blast at EVO. Managed to get out of my pools, but then quickly got bodied by an Eddie player. I have no idea what that dude is doing. Played a bunch of Tekken in rentahamster's suite v. some pretty good players. mostly some drunk dude playing Kuma making bear puns the whole time. It was hilarious and fun.
Think I'm ready to start learning about how to fight characters and learn/master movement in this game.

Funny, I spent a lot of time getting bodied at the Tekken Casino by a Gigas player who was drinking Jack and telling me frame data while doing so lol.

I love Xiaoyu. She's so fun to use. Once people figure out how vulnerable she is to 10f jabs during RDS strings though...things get a little tougher. I have to get a lot more creative and it becomes harder to win. It's a good thing they still haven't figured out that her RDS 4 is launch punishable lol.

Man connections get really rough once you start getting yellow ranks and higher. Pretty much 2 out of every 3 opponents I play gets horrible lag spikes and freezes at some point during the match that renders it pretty much unplayable. It didn't happen prior to this, really, so I dunno if it's the game's matchmaking struggling to find people with decent connections with the smaller pool or what but it's getting pretty anti-fun pretty quick.

Was watching Jeondding's stream last night, the first after EVO, and he gave some lore about his top 8 matches. Here's my translation.
He swears he should have beaten JDCR in their match, because JDCR was totally off his game, making input errors and getting hit by all kinds of stuff he doesn't normally get hit by. In addition, he gave away a match and was thrown off for the entire set because of a button issue. When he played JDCR, his buttons were configured completely wrong. Knee had played previously on the side that Jeondding was on, and Knee uses a different button config than most players, using the four buttons one column to the right on a typical stick config. Jeondding's only tournament experience are in Korean Tekken leagues and Mastercup a few times in Japan, so he's very inexperienced when it comes to console tournaments and just hopped on and started playing without a button check. You can see in the first seconds of the first match, he realizes the buttons are messed up and starts checking his buttons. JDCR also realizes the situation and backs off for about 10 seconds. Jeondding asks JDCR what he should do, and JDCR says just play on. Jeondding is flustered at this point, but moves his fingers over to Knee's setup and plays on. He actually adjusts himself really well to a really weird button config and starts getting into his groove. He pointed out all the various moments when JDCR was just getting hit by random stuff that he never got hit by when Jeondding would play JDCR and the fact that JDCR rarely gets counterhit, because of JDCR's nerves. Jeondding swears that even though it's impossible to believe, being his big tournament and it being the biggest Tekken tournament ever, he wasn't nervous at all. He says it just feels like he's playing matches at the arcade against JDCR. He talks about how he didn't really understand the depth it takes to be the best as a progamer and that the best players do a lot of things outside of just being good at their game. Once he got to EVO and saw how JDCR and Saint would maintain their physical and mental condition in preparation for their matches by eating and sleeping properly, he realized that he didn't take EVO nearly seriously enough, noting that he was playing SF5 on his stream 2 days before leaving for EVO (lol). The first match ends and he regrets everything that went on in it, really feeling like it should've been his match. Between the first and second match you can see him ask JDCR how to go into button config and JDCR explains it to him (lol), then tells him to move over. It's pretty shocking that a person so ill prepared and with little experience was able to take the eventual EVO champ so close to being sent to losers bracket. He does a throw in the second round of the second match intending for JDCR to break it so he can get on the 1P side. This is where he mentions that choosing sides is something he's very unfamiliar with, as on the arcade version of Tekken 7, each player can choose whichever camera side they want and he much preferred 1P, but lost Rock Paper Scissors to JDCR before their match for the choice of side. In the final round of the final match, Jeondding says he doesn't know why he didn't just lame out the rest of the match, instead of aggressively trying to close it out like he was. Then in the final comeback moment, Jeondding thought the match was over for sure with his combo and in his mind was saying "Bye JDCR!", instead we got "No, no, no, don't do that! Get up!"
Then he goes onto his match against Saint. He says it's not even worth calling a match, Jeondding lets Saint use his stick and he instead uses JDCR's stick. JDCR's stick was totally ill suited for him and he couldn't play at all, and gets destroyed. Can't move properly, dropped combos, and the discomfort and distraction just made it terrible. He doesn't really points fingers and blames himself for not being prepared for a console tournament in regards to things like settings and sticks.
Before he goes into his match against Bats, he wonders aloud why the Korean version of Nightbot doesn't do anything for his channel, while he sees him (it?) doing all kinds of useful things for other streamers. The chat all laughs at him and points out that Nightbot is not a person but a bot that he has to set up, and it paints a picture of someone who plays a lot of Tekken but knows very little of technology, shining a light on all his troubles with the console aspect of tournaments, and just looking kind of airheaded in general. The chat calls him a technology dummy, others hope it's just a joke or trolling, while others are astounded that this person could be this good at Tekken.
Finally he goes into his match against Bats to get into Top 8, there's not much to say besides the fact that Bats was intimidated by Jeondding, and Jeondding mentions he does Rodeo a lot on Bats because it's known in Korea that the Japanese are not very good at breaking throws.

If you're talking about his swinging neckbreaker thing, that's his 1+3 grab. Can use either 1 or 2. His only command grab is his beatdown one that leaves you standing and him at +5, which is a 1+2 grab.
Will check it out in training tomorrow if I can remember. I kept getting nailed by the same one, and I think I managed to break it once by sheer accident lol

Thats pretty interesting, even Aris on the stream thought they were button checking. Hope he gets back for future Evos or other tournaments. I really liked his play style and was secretly hoping to take the eve championship with his Eddy.

He has a normal job and stuff, and he said on stream that his previous mentality was just playing Tekken because he enjoyed it, but after experiencing EVO, he really wants to give being a professional gamer a real go. The main thing holding him back is that true sponsorships for Korean Tekken players are in very short supply with JDCR and Saint being the only ones in Korea who can be called professional Tekken players and he wants a sponsorship.

That's no longer true in Tekken 7, holding back is a relatively safe option now compared to the older games.
