Tekken Director Katsuhiro Harada Is Tired Of SJWs

So someone asked Harada about including a nordic fighter (viking) to Tekken, Harada then went on a rant about how he can't design any character anymore without fearing a backlash from western SJWs

I guess Harada still remembers the SJW backlash when he revealed Lucky Chloe from Tekken 7 , of course they tried to force him to remove her from the game but Harada had another plan

Harada is also aware of the Western SJW epidemic in gaming and how SJWs really hate the Female body.

But don't worry guys, Harada will still make what he wants even if the SJWs hated it.

Pretty much. Whats happening nowadays is the same as Ned Flanders.

Remember that Simpson episode where Ned Flanders records every program and midia and watch them all day just to be sure that nothing offensive or innapropriate is happening? He doesn't care about the programs or the midia for that matter.

I can respect that coming from a creative person. It doesn't matter if I like it or not. It doesn't hurt anyone if he is doing what he does and it isn't illegal. If I don't like something I don't buy it and don't get outraged about it and taking it to social media. I wish all creative people would see it that way and put their own creativity to work instead of maneuvering through the minefield trying to not offend anyone.

I hope more people stick to their guns. Its becoming ridiculous, we are getting to a witch hunt in the medieval ages point. Your hair, it offends me, your sex offends me, your man spreading offends me....just shut the fuck up already. The only reason people succumb to this, in gaming particularly, obviously they want their game to sell and these SJWs can kill a hype fast. We are reaching a dangerous point because I really do believe all this is going to implode and backfire at one point.

SJWs don’t play games, they ruin them.

That’s sadly how I feel the Western market will look like nowadays. Having to make changes to certain aspects of games who’s authenticity came from there due to a small minority of random bitching people who constantly yells at anything that doesn’t “ appeal “ to them.

This whole thing is going to turn out like the Catherine Full Body situation, where you have a small portion of people uninterested into this kind of game who goes on this fucked up logic that if they don’t like a game, nobody shouldn’t either.

It's likely that more and more developers, especially in Japan, will get tired and just start doing whatever they want. I'm pretty sure Dead or Alive 6's team learned a valuable lesson from the reviews of the game about trying to appease the easily offended.

No matter how much ground you give them unless they get an unconditional surrender and a full political victory, they'll never be satisfied.

In the meanwhile, the SoulCalibur team did whatever they wanted because they knew they had nothing to lose, and they were successful.

I remember playing Tekken 2 - 5 at the arcade and not ever knowing who he was. Now a days people shoot out @ messages with suggestions on how he should do his job. Things have gotten a lot uglier and its all thanks to social media. I never had a single person come up to me while I was playing Tekken and vocalize their concerns over some personal issue with the game.

Things have taken a wrong turn altogether with the new generation, not only SJW but millennials as well.
They see it as being right and standing up for what they believe in and while true the other side potentially sees it as ruining and/or taking something away.

My face is tired.

I can't understand how SJWs have such an impact. People just seem to have an abundance of f*cks to give about too many things. Maybe I'm just old, but if it were me in this situation I would publicize this in a tasteful way to combat the ridiculousness of SJWs sticking their nose in literally every crevice of society.

SJW: You don't have enough diversity in your game"
Me: It's a ninja/Samurai game.
SJW: So do you have a black ninja, white ninja? Hispanic Ninja?
Me: There weren't very many black or white ninjas in the Edo Era. Sorry.
SJW: So I can't create a ninja that looks like me?
Me: I've made sure that all ninjas in the game follow what's historically accurate.
SJW: I don't see any gay or trans ninjas in the game.
Me: I'd imagine it would be quite dangerous to have a sex change in that time...

Harada has my sword, my bow, and my axe

Much respect to him and other Japanese developers, they all have my full support! Don’t be afraid and just create what you want!

Bought Season 2 Tekken 7, Idolmaster platinum stars, Soul Calibur 6 Season 1 and Dead or Alive 6

Keep this up these are all awesome games which makes me very happy, don’t let the non gamers ruin them please!

Never played Tekken, but I've been playing Soul Calibur 6 recently and I think the character designs are worse than they have ever been.
Its seem creatively bankrupt when all the come up with is even less clothing on women, even bigger boobs with even better boobs physics and ever more detailed nipples poking through the tight outfits.

While the male character deteriorate into ridiculousness.

Still a great game when it comes to the mechanics, but the visual design is really bad.

Good design begins beyond the stereotypes. If Harada can't make it there maybe he should make space for new, more talented designers.

Huh? SC6's character designed is based on Soul Calibur and is much more restrained than some of the later SC games (Ivy especially). These are also established characters that have been around for 25 years. It isn't like they are going to suddenly be turned into completely different characters (unlike, say, SC5).

Boy, do I disagree with you here. SC6 looks great. It seems like what you want isn't Soul Calibur. However, for the people who do want Soul Calibur, it seems to be perfectly in line with what they wanted (unlike, say, SC5).

Soul Calibur's character design was always ridiculous, but SC6 took it to a new level. Several characters look like caricatures of strippers straight out of the mind of a 14 year old with blue balls.

Voldo, Taki and Ivy mostly.
Their designs are basically the same as the first Soul Calibur. How are their designs "worse than they have ever been"?

Some of the others just look like fanservice for the pedo crowd.
Man, fuck off with that shit. Don't like the game. Fine. But don't go around calling the people who do like it pedophiles. The only character that even looks halfway young is Talim and she's well past the point of sexual maturity - and the only one sexualizing her is you. The game never does.

This tweet hits it pretty close to home:
"I'd like to challenge such a theme design.
However, the time has come when the challenge is very difficult.
Because there are people who complain about characteristic design as "This is a stereotype!" "

The thing is, what is a stereotype to one is how the group is represented to another person (this may be how some live their identity). But there is much worse, when you make efforts to not create stereotypical characters (i.e.: you hire sensibilities "experts/consultants" to assist with the design/writing, look it up, that exists) the same mob will turn around on a dime and complain that the character "do not represent group x" well enough.

Anyway, aren't fighting games characters a stereotypical bunch? Does anyone think Brazilians look and act like Blanka?

Takis suit is tighter, her nipples are now fucking obvious.
Ivy suit is even smaller. Just enough so her pussy lips don't pop out.
Voldo is still Voldo, though. He was embarrassing since SC4.

I like the game, thats why I am bothered by these horrible character designs.

lol, yeah well, age of consent is 14 in part of Europe so I guess you are correct. Still just barely, though.

You think big boobs and tight tiny clothes are sexualization but this babyfaced innocent schoolgirl look isn't?
Bruh...

He's in a bit of a though spot as a director at Bandai Namco. I really want him and all other devs everywhere to make what they want, without giving a flying fuck what the some hive mind echo chamber is shouting. But obviously, the games he works on need to sell and need to have marketing planned etc, so "company business men™" obviously want maxium reach for their products for the broadest possible customer base and the highest potential to sell to that base. And you can't really fault them for wanting that. At the end of the day, people need to earn money. And if you happen to "offend" people, you might risk minimising the potential sales...

The sad truth is that people are offended because they choose to be. Being offended is a choice that a person makes, in my opinion. It is not something that is done to you but something you do to yourself.

Taki's nipples has been a part of her costume since at least Soul Calibur.

Ivy suit is even smaller. Just enough so her pussy lips don't pop out.
Again, more or less the same costume from Soul Calibur.

I said sexual maturity, not age of consent - two different things.

You can sexualize anything... and apparently you do.

I think everyone is.
Now we just need more devs willing to ignore SJW's. All it takes is a few games not bowing down to complains and still selling well for devs to realise that the vast majority of SJW's complaining online aren't buying games either way so there's no point in listening to them

Again, more or less the same costume from Soul Calibur.
It makes a difference whether a nipple is just a dent in a low poly boob or a fully modeled nipple on a highly detailed boob.
Increased realism will challenged design.
Not only with sexualization, but also with violence this will cause new problems.
We always killed people in games, but with ever increasing realism the context changes.
The step from game to porn or game to snuff movie is literally just a step of increased realism.

And that's fine - but there's nothing "pedo" about it.
I think thats a cross you'll have to carry if you are into that.

I said sexual maturity, not age of consent - two different things.
And I said she looks 14 at max. Is that sexual maturity to you?

You can sexualize anything... and apparently you do.
So you are turning things around on me. Its not the character designs which are intentionally sexualized, but I am sexualizing them alleging sexualization?
Thats dumb, man.

Harada is such a boss.

It shouldn’t even be controversial that he is allowed to design games the way he wants, without bending backwards to implement cynical “inclusivity efforts” designed to appease the mob.

I believe you need to get out a little more. While her age in VI is unknown, her character design perfectly fits a relatively petite Asian woman (which she is) that can be well over 18. You know, Asian women exist, and their looks shouldn't be banned from games because they somehow look young to you.

Source: my better half is Japanese. She is 33, and to me, she looks like she's 25. When she goes out to drink they ask her ID card.

You seem to be part of that easily offended crowd Harada-san is talking about.
